Just finished

I just finished these with colored pencil. I practiced form and highlight and lighting. The coloring book is so cute! I want to do a series of coloring them. One thing I think that’s lacking is I think the green part could have been better but people said it looked good this way. How do you think the rendering looks? I’m trying to get better.

Practice run

Does anyone else like doing a practice run before coloring the actual page in their book?

I like printing or copying a page first so I can treat it like a rough draft. It gives me a chance to experiment with color palettes, shading, and different techniques before I commit to the real page. 😅

This is my current work in progress, and I'd love to hear what you all think! I'm constantly second-guessing myself and changing my mind, so I'd really appreciate any feedback.

Do you see anything you would change? Any suggestions for improving the shading, color choices, contrast, or overall look? I'm always looking to learn and improve, so don't be afraid to share your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Lloyd and the leopards in leg warmers - with glass rhinestones!

Yesterday’s post didn’t do the sparkles the justice they deserved, so I filmed it too. Here it is, reflecting in the setting sun!

I colored this page with alcohol markers, and then hand-glued glass rhinestones across the night sky and tapped on dots of fine glitter glue. SO SPARKLY! I think I’m going to need to bedazzle all every finished coloring book page in the future!

Just to recap my source book: This is the “Lloyd Lowers a Ladder for the Leopards in Leg Warmers” page in The Legendary Life of Lloydcoloring book. The author hides a little mouse on every page, and little details from the previous page will slide into the next one, too (this page, it’s muffins and stars).

Summer Break Bobbie Goods

I drew inspo from Bobbie’s stickers. So vibrant and colorful. Such a vibe. I’d be here all day with a cute little 🍹 and lots of sunblock. Important. And a charcuterie board. 🤤

Hobbies during maternity break

https://preview.redd.it/43fop5c3rd9h1.jpg?width=899&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6896f9121af5458fc1a8da8f2be98dcdab83a950

I have recently taken to mandala colouring. Needless to say, it was therapeutic and helped calm my anxious mind.

During my maternity break, I have been trying to keep myself occupied with mentally stimulating and creative tasks.

  • I have started solving Sudokus again. I enjoyed doing them as a teenager.
  • I have been learning Spanish at an extremely slow pace via Duolingo. I fell in love with the accent after watching Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad, hence took it up.
  • I’m currently reading Brain Rules for Baby by John Medina and The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood. I like to balance non-fiction with some fiction :)

I am not sure if these activities can actually improve my baby's cognitive capabilities, but these are definitely helping me keep my anxious thoughts away.

I must acknowledge how privileged I am to be able to do these and I am very grateful to my husband and my mother-in-law for their support.

Would love to hear if you have taken up any new hobbies or revisited your old hobbies during your maternity break :)
