I wanted to share my first ever cosplay project

Hey everyone!

This is a Warhammer 40K Space Marine build made entirely from EVA foam.

Before starting this project, I had never worked with EVA foam, never built armor, and honestly had almost no crafting experience. Everything I've learned has been through trial and error, and lots of patience.

So far, I've spent around 20 days on the build. Both arms are finished, and the helmet is currently still a work in progress.

I'm really proud of how it's turning out so far. Every piece has taught me something new, and I can already see how much I've improved compared to when I started.

I'm aiming to finish it in time for my first cosplay competition, so any feedback, tips, or constructive criticism is more than welcome. I'd love to hear what you think and what I could improve before the final paint job.

Thanks for checking it out!

Any advice on how to start this mask?

So I am trying to make this mask for Chota from Dorohedoro. I am not even concerned about how i’m going to see through it, i’m more so trying to figure out what I even use as a base for this.

I need help with gun prop in airplane

Hello guys I am currently working on a gun prop for a Joel (TLoU) cosplay, and it occurred to me that I am going to need to travel on airplane to attend to the event and I never travalled with an prop that looks like a gun.

So fellow cosplayers I need your advice, how should I do it? Wrap it on bubble wrap and pray? Mailing it to the hotel is out of the play unfortunately 😕

Obs: I was thinking about dividing it on 2 parts and assembling it with magnets on both side so they connect , so its not a completed gun on transport.

I don't know if changes something but its 3d printed so its plastic, and it is the hunting rifle that you acquire in the game

Edit: I am Brazilian, its a domestic flight, I have a checked bag

I made the ekko sword from the Frame Perfect skin of 2xko.

This is the second sword I've added lights to

TitanFall 2 - Jack Cooper Helmet

So this is the first prop I ever 3D printed, painted / processed, and finished. So I'm definitely open to feedback. I still have to add the back belt part but I haven't been able to find a strap or belt that fits the bill yet for cheap. I also added some foam on the inside so you can put it on comfortably. Drilled out vent holes for intake at the front and added a battery powered fan to keep cool if worn. The last couple photos are from the original print and assembly.

I definitely think I could do a better job with the acrylic wash to make the indentations look more pronounced. I also had trouble doing this in the already dark / black parts, so any recommendations is welcome!

Is there any way to stick this to my skin?

I bought a cyberpunk spine for my back and I wanted to know if there’s any way to stick it to my skin because it’s little hefty and I want it to stay on all day.

I turned an umbrella into a giant flower that blows bubbles.

This prop features:
✨ A bubble machine mounted on top
🌸 Flower petals made from bubble mailers
💡 Fairy lights inside for a magical glow
☂️ A collapsible umbrella base for easy storage and transport

🌸🫧 Meet my newest creation—a giant flower umbrella that blows bubbles!
I built this prop using an umbrella base, a bubble machine mounted on top, flower petals made from bubble mailers, and fairy lights inside so it glows beautifully. Best of all, it still folds up like a regular umbrella for easy storage!

Need help with a visor for my helmet

I need help with my visor for my soundblaster helmet, it needs to be clear so i can see through it, but if a 3d print it clear it will be extremely hard to see through due to the amount of layers. I want it to be the same shape as the 3d model, because if its too thin its not going to look good any advice for someone kinda new at this stuff, preferably something easy and cheap.

My cosplay in progress

This won't be the original Kerfur from the game, but a reworked image with a Kerfur head. Kerfur the Bartender. And this is not the whole range of emotions)

Build an ejectable Raiden's sword in Metal Gear Rising

updated: Sorry guys I got the name wrong in my title. as pointed out in the comments, this is Sam's. my apologies.

This currently is only a proof of Concept, a prototype.
still needs some fine tune and iterations.

Scabbard: wood
Tusba: 304 steel
BLade: 9260 spring steel through harden heat treatment.
handle: wood core with 3D print parts
Gun parts on scabbard: 3D print parts

in next iteration we'll print Petg parts in Metal, probably 316L steel
and maybe work on the ejecting mechanism to make it somehow a concealed structure.

Glued my prop incorrectly but praying the paint job somewhat made it alright.

This is my first ever time making a prop so yeah, it looks rough.

So, I had to have a friend’s dad print it because I don’t have a 3D printer. I put the parts together to envision what I wanted before gluing. Then he said “oh I think it goes the other way” and I was like “oh okay” and my dumb ass didn’t think to check who was right. I didn’t realize until AFTER using the world’s strongest and stinkiest glue that I had it right the first time.

I tried to somewhat hide it by adjusting the color palette to mimic how it was supposed to look. I’ve already accepted my fate but damn… I should’ve checked or at least trusted my gut.

Moral of the story: ALWAYS USE A REFERENCE BEFORE DOING ANYTHING! Even if someone tells you something or you think you got it. Setting epoxy does not forgive your mistakes.

Also don’t use setting epoxy indoors. I made this several weeks ago and my house still smells in that same room.

Bringing multiple prop weapons to a con a good idea?

I'm wanting to expand the scope of my cosplay by adding in a gym bag with maybe like 4-5 prop firearms and melee weapons (short pump shotgun, smg, cleaver, etc). But then I got to thinking is that too much? Would prop check people hate that? Would I even actually need that many?

Maybe overthinking it, just curious what others think about it

What paint works on neoprene rubber

I’m repainting a neoprene cosplsy duit. The inside is fabric backed. But I’m doing the smooth rubber side. I tried regular acrylic paint but it cracked. Any advice is much appreciated

Any suggestions so I can actually see through it?

So I’ve already printed the pieces and everything, I have a black cloak that I will be using for it as well as a thick black cloth for the “headdress” but I’m not sure how I am going to make it so I can actually see. Any suggestions for a material I could use? I was thinking a sort of mesh but I think the one I have may have holes that are way too big so you would still see my eyes. Maybe if I really stretch out an old black shirt or something? Let me know any suggestions please

Can I bring 3d printed bullets to a con?

Hey guys! Sorry if this has been asked already, but I'm finding answers regarding weapons, but not the bullets. I want to wear an ammo belt with fake ammo in the loops and was wondering if they're 3d printed, will i be allowed to bring them into a con? Will they tag each individual bullet if so? TYIA

Dota 2 antimage persona (Wei) swords

Made it as usual with 3d printing and acrylic paint. Blade with gloss varnish, everything else are satin varnish. I almost lost my mind trying to achive that specific blueish-purple-violet color to be close to the in-game render.
