Initial Facial Prosthetics Test-Sabretooth Cosplay

Initial Facial Prosthetics Test-Sabretooth Cosplay

So this is my preliminary trial on the facial prosthetics for my Sabretooth Cosplay. Not sure if this is where I’ll end up landing, but I’m wanting to see how it will all work together. Definitely open to suggestions on how to make it better. I definitely think the eyebrows need a little trimming. Not sure about the white eyes yet. The fangs look OK but they keep falling out so I’m not sure they’re gonna work.

Update on my western Mandolorian

A few weeks ago I posted my helmet and some of my gear, but now I’m proud to present the final product, though some final touches still need some doing.

Could it be...

That these first, often transparent, kind of flexible layers befor you color your eva, which cost an arm and a leg can be replaced by slightly thinned down craft glue?

Note that I live in switzerland and my glue might be different from your glue somewhere else 😅

Help with attaching harness inside can/barrel

I am building a wearable Coca-Cola can out of a cardboard, 55 gallon drum. I'd like to install a harness inside it to make it more comfortable to wear, but I can't figure out how to attach said harness to the inside of the can. Photos of the can itself and a quick mockup of what I'm thinking. What would you do? Ideally, I'd like most of the weight to rest on the belt, and not on the shoulders.

Using EVA foam for a book/journal cover. (The sketch is just a messy doodle I made for the concept art.)

I make Venus Fly Trap themed art mostly and I will be making a costume that reflects that aesthetic (basically a sorcerer that controls Venus fly traps with a bunch of items and clothing pieces that are shaped like a VFT or covered in a VFT design). One of the main pieces I want to go with my costume is a grimoire/spell book with a cover that is the shape of a Venus Fly Trap that opens and closes manually. I was going to use leather but I want to see if I can use EVA foam instead.

What are your suggestions?

Do you think EVA foam would hold up well when crafted into a book(not the pages)?

I know how to book-bind and I use the sewing method. Do you think the EVA foam would get real badly warped or tear after opening and closing the book a few times? Because I also want to make it into a junk journal for scrapbooking art after I use it for cosplay.

Do any of you have any tips for me?

Sinon Sniper Rifle

Hello! I’m wanting to make Sinon’s sniper rifle from Sword Art Online, I’ve had a look online for any tutorials but I’m struggling to find any. I’m thinking about making the rifle with PVC pipe and EVA foam, but don’t know really how to go about it. I want to make sure the prop can detach into pieces as well. Any help would be appreciated!

My Finished Dead Space 1/Remake Cosplay!

Worked on this over the last 3-4 months and got to wear it to FanExpo Chicago! Had a lot of fun making it, extra details can be found at my [build log](https://ilijaroknich.com/#cosplay-2026) on my website for anyone interested. I'm happy with how it turned out, Dead Space has some of my favorite environment and character designs in gaming, so it was really cool to get to be a part of that for the better part of a day.

How to attatch a tube to my wrist in a way that points to my palm

So I have a smoke machine hidden within my jacket and a fish tank air tube running down my sleeve and a fake tattoo made out of nylon, but the tube won't stay in my palm.

I've tried a watch and a bracelet but neither keep it from rotating in place which causes the smoke to not go into my palm. I've been using zip ties but that's not super comfortable or practical.

I would prefer the opening in my palm but I'm good with any and all suggestions.

What do we think?

Best place to buy an axe for cosplay?

Hey there! I was wondering if theres a good place I can go to get a realistic lumber axe for a cosplay? I've looked at ebay and etsy and most of the axes there are plastic or foam and more hatchet sized than axe, I was hoping maybe to find like a rubber one or maybe like dulled metal axe (although i dont know if that one is the safest). Do you guys have any other safe websites I can go to to buy from? thank you!

Question about finish

I printed and painted this helmet, for a finish I figured rustoleum ultra 2x gloss clear coat would work well, I did several coats, but some of the paint is easily scratched. The base is pla, sanded with 120, then 220 grit, painted with woodfiller, sanded with 220 again, primed with rustoleum ultra 2x, then painted rattle can and acrylics. Finally I finished with 7 coats of gloss clear coat.

I'm thinking of now scuffing it and doing a water based polyurethane finish, as it may be harder. My biggest concern however is damaging the paint, specifically the acrylics. What grit of sandpaper should I use? AI is saying 220, which seems a little too aggressive.

If I do polyurethane, I'm going to be brushing rather than spray, and I'll likely go satin finish.

My first ever cosplay attempt from 2 years ago for Halloween.

So this is a cos play weapon of Hidan's Three blades scythe from Naruto shippuden. Using a variety if adhesives and glued, I took three of the cheap halloween scythes you can usually find at walmart in the costumes and props aisle and cut off 2 of the blades and then glued them onto the shaft of the third. These costume scythes are deconstruct able which is why the pole isn't smooth and flat. It comes in pieces and because of the blades indentations for the designs I couldn't accurately paint the blade heads. So its not a 100% screen accurate recreation but I am proud of what I made as a first timer.

Glue and Paint for Big Sword

I got Yasha Nydoorin's Magician's Judge from Critrical Role 3D Printed for my Yasha cosplay. I've used wooden dowels to connect the different parts (not all are finished) but I want to glue them too. I just don't know which glue is best for this.

I also want to paint it so that the metal parts look metal and I want to be able to paint the details on the crossguard too. I don't need it to be super professional and I don't want it to look used, old or worn down.

I will be taking it to Critical Role's live event in October In London so I will be sanding down the sharp points but I'm not sure of the best way to do that either.

  1. What glue is best to use with PLA Matte 3D prints?
  2. What paint is best to use on PLA Matte 3D prints?
  3. Do I need to do anything to it before I paint it?
  4. How do I sand down sharp points?

Any ideas on how to do this?

Sorry if anything was unclear; I'm using a Translator

Mechanical parts aren't my strong suit, so...

So far, I’ve only found minigun tutorials where you hold the weapon from the outside, so the motor's position doesn't matter much; however, for this project, my arm would be inside the weapon, and I couldn't figure out a way to fit the motor inside the barrel alongside my hand. Since only the inner part of the weapon would rotate, it would be a small mechanism... at least, that’s how I imagined it would work.

This nearly 1.6-meter-long Anban sniper rifle is the longest model structure I've ever disassembled.

If we had a super-large 3D printer, we wouldn't have to go through the trouble of disassembling the model.

Would it be wrong of me to ask my dad to pay me for a helmet he wants me to make him?? I’m sorry if this is the wrong subreddit to ask

So I just got into making stuff with Eva foam, and I made a Roman helmet that turned out shockingly well, well kinda really good. and my dad really thought it was cool and asked I could make him a spartan helmet.

And well the Roman helmet took me probably like 20-25 hours in total, so I’m guessing the spartan helmet may take somewhere around that long.

Anyways I feel like it would be nice to be payed to make that for him because there’s other stuff I want to make for myself, and I bought all of materials with my own money, so I’ll be using a decent amount of my foam roll, I’ll need to buy new paints for the color he wants, I’ll probably need a new can of plasti dip.

And again there’s a bunch of other stuff I want to make so I feel like it would be fair to ask him to pay for the helmet.

But I may be totally wrong, and I’m sorry if this is in the wrong subreddit I just couldn’t think where else to ask

The hardest part of 3D printing isn't modeling, it's disassembling the model.

Why disassemble? Because we can't afford super-large, high-end printers! 😄
