Hi! I’m currently a costume student who spent last term recreating the outfit Margot Robbie wears during the ‘Return to Barbieland’ scene in the Barbie Movie.

A lot of (literal) blood, sweat and tears went into this costume, and I’m really proud of it so thought I’d show it off!

It consists of a bodice, jacket, skirt, petticoat and boater hat. I designed the fabric myself on ‘Procreate’ on my iPad.

I’ve included a few photos of the construction process. I hope you like it!

Me and my friends are dressing up and going to Universal Horror nights. Since they are doing a Fortnitemares theme, we wanna make our outfits based on fortnite lol. Please help with ideas and advice on how i could make renegade lynx’s hat. what pieces would i need to make it look the most accurate. also is there a better sub for this?

Finished this flowy two-layer noble dress with hand-sewn embroidered trim. Pastel purple chiffon outer layer + pink satin slip underneath.

This dress has lived rent free in my brain for years since reading this for the first time. So, since I went to see Phantom of the Opera earlier this year, I thought it was a good opportunity to make and wear it! Too bad the lighting sucked to capture the painted/gradient details.

These are just some of the photos. I absolutely would love to just gush about the making process, but I'm not sure if anyone would want to read that. But I would love to make more of her outfits in the future! (And maybe make them less janky)

I'm still working on one of my jester costumes but I feel like this would be appreciated. It's not close to done yet. Other than tightening the fabric does anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking red lace. This is actually a full hood that goes past my shoulders.

One of my friend’s graduation parties coming up, and the theme is 50s-90s so I thought it would be a good idea to go as Chandler Bing!!!!! I found an outfit I like but it’s gonna be a pain in the butt finding all the pieces. Here are some pictures. I need to replicate the entire fit head to toe if possible!

I recently finished recreating Cersei Lannister’s blue kimono from the early seasons of Game of Thrones for a theatrical performance.
Everything was handmade, from drafting the patterns to sewing the garment, painting the cherry blossom details, and building the oversized sleeves. My goal wasn’t just to reproduce the costume, but to capture the elegance and presence Cersei had in those scenes.
I’d love to know what you think, especially if you notice any details I could improve for an even more screen-accurate version.

Hello. I like to diy alot of my own funky clothes. But I need help with figuring out thinks to make and sew. Also any tips on makeup would help.

I'm not against making anything or upcoming or thrifting.

Any tips on ruffles, hair accessories, makeup and styles, jewelry, shoes, purses and whatever. All Ideas are welcome. Dying, bleaching, adding appliques, beadwork, embroidery and many more.

Also my style leans more jester and vintage. I am obsessed with vintage jester dolls and wish to incorporate the style from those doll into mine. Think brinns company jesters from the 70 and 80s. The fancy porcelain ones

I'm trying to decide which pants match the base for my costume best and I'm not sure which option is the best fit: Blue, Green or white? I want to try something a bit more fun than just plan black pants.

A friend suggested the green ones thinking the white would be too much. I'm currently leaning towards trying the white ones and then maybe dying them gray/a shade of purple if that doesn't work out since they are 100% cotton?

New to this craft, but really enjoying it so far!! I was inspired to create something for an upcoming ren faire - dark romantasy theme.

I need some ideas of where to go from here! I’ll be wearing this top with a black flowy skirt, but beyond that, I am at a loss of what to create to go along with this!

Unsure how I should go about making or constructing a gorilla hand around me . I’ve thought of pool noodles, chicken wire , paper machete ??? I have a good 2.5 months to work on this .

so i want it to be overly decorated like gaddafi had it, and i want it to be white, and i want to wear a hat with a rope like thing around it, here are the thing i have on my shopping list:

Sunglasses

a hat with a medium sized brim

rope, a lot of it

a coat, i found a cheap one from a military surplus shop, but I'll have to bleach it and idk how

white pants, with a wide opening at the bottom (?)

idk where to find ornaments

i also intend to use it while filming videos for Instagram, i want to have a recognizable personality online, i intend to do nonsensical videos in a field of wheat near my village that make people go "tf am i watching".

This one was so fun! I love historical costuming and cute calico critters. This time I got way better photos, and she just looks so adorable lol. Everyone was so nice and kind with my last post I thought I’d try to do something a little more detailed than I’ve done before! I was thinking of maybe making a working class one next, but no clue what era, thoughts? I also made an instagram for those who might want to see more photos or find it interesting, also was thinking of starting to document the process of making one of these things, for anyone who’s it’s “historical_calico”, there more up close photos on there!
