Songs that fit my band

I have been in a (cover)band with 2 friends, and we don't know a ton of songs that coukd be played with 3 people but still sound kind of full. I have 2 years of guitar expiernce and recently started working on vocals(if it is close enough to what the guitar plays i can probably manage) our drummer has 6+ years of experience and our bassist is still a bit new and has about a year kf expierence. We mostly like soft rock/hardrock. The police, AC//DC, golden earing, Bon Jovi, Boston. Amd stuff like that. Any suggestions would help!

Social media and marketing

I guess I’ve done ok so far because we have gigs and more are in process. But: do you guys use AI for your flyers? Do you post a calendar of events, why and why not? I’ve heard at least one band guy say he won’t do an event calendar because he doesn’t want people saying “eh I’ll just catch them later, look at all these gigs.” Do you do you tube clips: I have just done Facebook and instagram reels to show our work. What are your dos and do nots for social media?

Understanding music and practice behaviours for bands

Hey everyone,

I play guitar and help organize a small Brazilian samba band here in Amsterdam. Over the years I've realized how messy music organization can get — scattered tabs/PDFs, people learning different versions of songs, forgetting songs I already knew, rehearsals wasting time because everyone prepared differently, etc.

I started getting curious whether this is just a “me/my band” problem or something more common among musicians.

So I put together a short survey about:

  • repertoire management
  • practice habits
  • rehearsal organization
  • and general musician chaos 😅

Would really appreciate hearing how other people deal with this stuff:

Thanks a lot 🙏

Where are you advertising your gigs?

We're a well-established cover band in Ventura County. We usually just advertise on Facebook, but our numbers have been dwindling recently so I'm thinking we might need to try some new ways of encouraging people to go to our gigs.

What else are people using besides Facebook?

meetup.com? Physical posters? Are there other online sites that are good for this sort of thing?

What about location-based subreddits?

A couple people mentioned to me about email lists ... I don't think we even have any of our followers' email addresses, though....

How to advertise properly

Hi

We are a new covers band and have had one gig.

We advertised it as us being blues & soul as I feel that sums up the average vibe of our set list even if we do have a few "rock" tracks.

Chatting to someone who attended and they said that they didn't think we fit that description and called us more as a rock band.

What do people think based off our current set list.

Set 1

• Bad Woman Blues A (Beth Hart 2019)

* Born Under a Bad Sign D (Albert King 1967)

* Made for Lovin You Bb (anastacia)

* I Try E - Macy Gray (1999)

• Come Together C (Beatles 1969)

• Somebody Else’s Guy C#m (Jocelyn Brown 1984)

• Piece of My Heart E (Erma Franklin 1967)

• Rise to the Sun G (Alabama Shakes 2012)

• Sunday Morning C (Maroon 5 2004)

• Who do you love Bm (Bo Diddley 1956)

• Hey Joe E (Jimi Hendrix + others 1966)

Set 2

• Can’t Get Enough of Your Love C (Bad Company 1974)

• Long Train Running Fm (Doobie Brothers 1973)

• Give Me One Reason F# (Tracy Chapman 1995)

• Losing You C (The Temptations)

• Higher Ground Eb (Stevie Wonder 1973)

• Going Down D (Freddie King 1971)

• Heavy Makes You Happy G (Staple Singers 1971)

• Feeling Alright C (Traffic 1968)

• I Can’t Turn You Loose C (Otis Redding 1965)

• Don’t Wait A (JJ Cale 1982)

• Hard to Handle C (Otis Redding 1967)

• Roadhouse Blues E (The Doors 1970)

Question re this sub

Hey y’all. Best of luck in your projects, especially if you are playing this weekend! I have a question: are we allowed to promote our own gigs on this sub? If not, is there a sub I can do that? My first gig is tonight and I’m worried about attendance of course 🥺 ty!

Booking conflict help

A good problem to have but…we have two gigs a week apart. The first gig has been a regular every month but the crowd is older and just interested in drinking. The pay is not great, acoustics are bad. But…the owner has been there since the beginning and keeps giving us paying gigs…

Enter a new booking, it’s very close to the first bar but is much busier area. It has a younger and larger crowd, better pay, better acoustics. A really fun place to play with walk-in traffic.

The owner of the first bar called and asked me not to play the second bar a week after our gig at his place. He said we have a history, that it’s the same clientele and general location, etc…

What do I do? Stay with the original guy and the older hard drinking crowd. Or switch to the new bar which we’ve only played once and don’t have a regular gig…

Help…

A New Way For Cover Bands To Be Found

PartyBands.com - Finally a platform that gets us.

“Bands are discovered through the artists they cover”

Let that sink in for a moment…

That's right. As catalogs grow, genre alone creates too much noise and not enough signal.

Physical media required exclusive categories.
Digital discovery allows overlapping identity.

Onboarding cover bands now. Got videos on YouTube? Even better! No credit card required. Free 30-day

Unfortunately i can't play an instrument well so i was wondering what options do i have? I want to avoid getting copyright strike or being told by Youtube that i can't upload the video. Also not all songs have independent creators that allow you to use their song backing track or people that created it.

Do you guys use AI for this? or pay someone on Fiverr to do the production or play the music?

Note: Have used karaokeversion.com but it doesn't have some English songs i want on there. Also i wonder where people get Japanese backing track.
