Moving to Washington

Hi Everyone!

We are planning to move to Washington from across the country. Please share your recommendations for any tips we need to know, or what you wish you knew before your move that would have made things easier for you.

Right now, we are in the process of saving for the move. How much did you save for your move?

We have not put our house on the market yet and will need to do so before the move.

We will need to look for houses there. I toured the neighborhoods/ town of Lacey, Tumwater, Olympia, Puyallup, and Yelm.

How much did you save for the moving truck, pods, etc., or things that most people don't know before or during the big move that we need to know or save up for?

Is it actually possible to sell your house and find one before the move ?

Do You need to put your stuff in storage and then move into an apartment (in a different state) while you look for a house? What did people usually do?

what did you do for your big move to a different state?

Thanks for your help?

What should a detailed moving estimate actually include before I hire a company?

Our company is moving cross-country and we found a mover who gave us an estimate and a contract. Before signing a contract, what information do you think should be included in a moving estimate? Should it clearly outline labor, transportation, packing services, insurance options, and any additional fees?

Please Share what you look for in a moving estimate and any tips that can help others make a more informed decision before booking a mover.

I’d also like to hear about any experiences you’ve had reviewing moving contracts. Were there any details you wish you had checked more carefully before agreeing to the terms?

Thanks.
