Mi hijo ama que le rasque la cabeza, se relaja y se duerme. Y cuando no lo hago, me busca la mano con su cabeza, es súper malcriado 😂❤️

Beau Update #11 🖤🐾

sniff sniff …Is this thing on? 🎤🐾

Herrow, everyone! Beau here!

Mum said now that I’m all better, I could write my very own update. I had a bit of a stinky bum for a few days, but honestly… mum worries WAY too much. My tummy was just getting itself back to normal.

Apparently, I also overheard her talking about ordering me one of those fancy DNA tests from the place where she buys all of my snacks, stuffies, & other extremely important Beau supplies. She says she’s going to swab my cheeks, send it off to a very fancy science lab, & they’ll tell her if I’ve developed any food sensitivities or allergies in my YOUNG, PRIME years. Personally, I think they should just tell her I deserve unlimited treats.

I’ve also been slowly earning my freedom back! I’m allowed little 5-minute walks now. Every single time I try to go farther & show everyone the magnificent greyhound that I clearly am on the inside, Mum cuts me off. She keeps muttering something about my spine. Pfft. I feel AMAZING. Honestly, I feel about five years younger than I did before my surgery!

Thanks to all of you, I have so many wonderful new things. I LOVE my stroller (don’t tell the neighborhood dogs), & I have comfy new beds, handsome harnesses, & all sorts of accessories made especially for pups with my perfectly-shaped little sausage body.

Speaking of handsome… I just HAD to show off my fancy new bow tie. Aren’t I just the most dapper gentleman you’ve ever seen?

The best part of all of this is that I’m not hurting anymore. I can’t even tell you how good it feels to wake up comfortable again. I really don’t know how Mum & I would’ve gotten through this RUFF time without all of my new friends. If I could personally give each & every one of you a big thank-you bath, I absolutely would. Unfortunately, Mum says the best I can do is keep you updated & continue being ridiculously cute for your viewing pleasure.

Next month I have to go back to the horrible place (the vet… EW.) I’m getting my rabies shot, & Mum wants them to check my spine again just to make sure everything is healing properly. She wants to know if the soreness was just bruising from the bad man who hurt me or if I’m still showing any signs of discomfort. I keep telling her I’m perfectly fine, but apparently mums have selective hearing when their babies are involved. She STILL won’t let me sprint after squirrels or zoom around like a maniac.

Thank you again, my wonderful friends, for giving me a second chance at a happy, pain-free life. Mum tells me every day how loved I am, & I think she’s right.
Sending lots of love, tail wags, & dapper kisses,

Beauregard (but my friends call me Beau)

Also answering to: Beau-jangles, Burrito Torpedo, Handsome Man, Baby Beau, Beau Bear… & approximately 847 other nicknames Mum has invented. 🤎🐾

Crate help!

Hi everyone, so my three year old daxie boy has never really loved his crate but he’s just dealt with it and been fine. However just lately he’s getting worse when he is left. We take him for a nice long walk before he goes in, he has the tv on. The room is a nice temperature so he’s never hot. He is left for sometimes 2 hours max. He maybe goes in his crate 2/3 times a week.

I left him yesterday for an hour and he has bent all the bars on the front of his crate and ending up hurting his paw. I’m scared to leave him out in case he hurts himself while I am gone. We tried a playpen but he destroyed it.

Any tips please!

Neutering Advice

My dachshund is 9 months old. He weights about 6kg so not technically a mini.

He’s in shape, very energetic and active, and has strong muscles on his legs.

I consider him toilet trained. (As much as he can be for a dachshund!) The past few weeks we have started to notice a lot of behaviour which we are considering marking. He toilets outside the door where our other dog sleeps. He also toilets upstairs at my boyfriend’s house outside the door where his dogs sleep. Yesterday, he pooed on my father’s bed which is extremely out of character for him. He specifically went into the room and jumped on the bed to do it. It is worth noting the majority of the time he does this- he has just been outside and went to the toilet.

He can also be very humpy with certain people and certain dogs.

I’m concerned. As much as I try to limit his access unsupervised so there can be no accidents as per se, he is now 9 months old and I don’t want to limit him too much.

I have read the studies suggesting to wait until 12-18 months to neuter male dachshunds as it can help lower the risk of IVDD. At the end of the day this is my main priority.

However, we are now at a stage where this marking and humping is becoming increasingly regular. I don’t want this to turn into an overall behavioural issue.

I have rang the vet and asked to bring him in for a neutering consultation. Is this the best thing to do? Am I missing something? I’m also a first time dog parent but really trying my best!

I would really appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance

Mosquitoes!?

This sweet girl is Maki! We’ve had her for a few weeks, she was 13 weeks yesterday.

We live in a VERY BUGGY area (SC lowcountry) and my girl is getting absolutely swarmed every time we go out. The top of her little head is covered in mosquito bites (pic 2). Anyone dealt with this or have safe suggestions in repelling the bugs? We have 2 other dogs with thick curly coats so it has never been an issue before!
