Royal Toyko - anything else like it?

Nostalgia-
I loved going to Royal Tokyo on Greenville (at Walnut Hill) as a kid. It was so traditional, old-school and authentic. Is there anything similar in ambience open now? I’m talking about taking with the horigotatsu tables (low with the recess for the feet), the paper walls, individual private rooms, etc. honestly, great sushi is secondary!😅. I want to reexperince that dining room
Anything?

1st time visiting: Quick Recommendations

This is my first time visiting Texas. I’ll be visiting in June to join in on the World Cup festivities and catch a Rangers game. I’ll be staying in the DFW area and renting a car. I’ve been researching what to do and where to eat, drink, and visit, but I’d love some local recommendations for any or all of the following. Thanks in advance!

  1. Craft breweries
  2. BBQ
  3. Tex-Mex restaurants
  4. Live country music
  5. Dive bars
  6. Misc: spots or experiences I should make time for

Hidden gem for authentic Turkish food in Plano

Hit up The Prime Restaurant in Plano the other day and honestly? One of the best Turkish meals I’ve had in the US.

Döner was solid, but the cağ kebabı was the move. It’s that horizontal-spit lamb kebab from Erzurum, cooked slow over wood fire. Juicier than regular döner and you can actually taste the smoke. You almost never find it done right over here.

Lahmacun was legit too. And the desserts… bro. Rice pudding was perfect, and the kazandibi (that Turkish burnt milk pudding where they caramelize the bottom of the pan and flip it so the burnt side ends up on top) was exactly how it should be. Chewy on top, creamy underneath.

Vibe was great too. Felt authentic without trying.

If you’re into Turkish food, just go.

We’re putting together a meal train for a close family friend who just welcomed a new baby. What kind of meal would you bring, and from where? They’re pretty easygoing with food. It’s for two parents, a 5-year-old, and a newborn at home. We’re both in Dallas around the Preston Royal area.

Get out and bond over Dallas food

Hi Dallas! My name is Walt and I'm building an app called Bond here in Dallas where we partner with local restaurants and get groups to go eat together. Some of our Current promos:

  • Free tacos at Rusty Taco
  • Free cannolis at Grimaldi's
  • Free truffle fries at Hopdoddy
  • Free Thai Teas at Ka Thai

…and several more great deals in the works.

The idea behind the app is to bring people closer together through shared food and experiences.

Two questions for the sub since y'all know Dallas food better than me:

  1. What underrated spots should I be talking to?
  2. What would actually make you use something like this?

Check us out and go get some free food! https://www.bondliving.com/

Late night eats

We are from out of town staying in grand prairie but willing to drive for something really good. What's open now? We are looking to stay away from Mexican though.

I’m arriving for a work function in June and I have one night to explore and taste Dallas! I’m looking recommendations! Here’s what I’m looking for:

— Tex-Mex or BBQ options
— close to the airport hotels (within 15-20 minutes of drive time)
— open on Tuesday night in June
BONUS: near an attraction or a place for a fun or unique landmark in Dallas
BONUS: if there is a Tex-Mex BBQ joint!

Food poisoning reporting

hi there. New to this sub. I'm wondering if there is a place to report food poisoning from establishments… I already called the owner and warned them about illness after eating at their location but I'm noticing Dallas doesn't have a health report card much like Los Angeles does... there are facilities that have grades ranging from a, B, C, and failing..

I can't tell you how many times in Dallas I have eaten out or noticed just really bad conditions and yesterday I ate at a place called SAN Korean barbecue and have been sick for the past 24 hours.

I've never had the runs like this in a long time. I grilled all the food heavily, but for some reason, I'm still very sick and I'm wondering if maybe because they are so slow they have a lot of food that hasn't been taken care of properly and they served it in an unhealthy way.

This isn't the sub for this delete the thread, but otherwise please help me and let me know where I can report incident
