Solid 7.75/10. Good introductory episode for one of the main antagonists of the series. Liked the concept with the PDA and liked the gorilla as a side character. Solid episode, not the best but a very good intro episode.

Very interesting. I believe that after Herb Scannell left Nickelodeon and Cyma Zarghami took over his position, she decided to pull the plug on the show.
I am looking for a fanfiction on archive of our own. The fanfic is one where Danny is the Ghost King, and he is summoned by cultists who sacrifice themselves for Danny to cleanse Gotham, and he ends up banishing both ghosts and demons from the city. All the magic users flee from the city too.
It has good things but overall it's very ''eh'' episode. I liked some of the Lance and Danny's subplot and it added layers to Lance's character, I can give them that. My problem is, I don't think Lance and Technus plot blended well or even had to be in the same episode. It felt like ''we need to defeat Technus, but we need to pass the exam, but we need to-''
In ''One of a Kind'' they did it better I think, because Skulker was set to be the main conflict, here both plots seemed to be fighing for the #1 conflict spot.
Anyway it has some good really jokes trown in there, that saved it.

About the episode, it's good overall, Freakshow keeps solidifying himself as a villain, the men in white, well it's the best episode with them in it and the only one I actually care for them in the plot, the references to Marvel are pretty good and the climax it's one of the best in the show. Also the buts where the popular kids help Danny are very good too.
I do have mixed feelings about the resolution. I get Danny is going to wipe the memory of his classmates and everyone out there, but his parents... they literally accepted him as ghost, and men in white are not much of a problem anymore. Honestly having Danny's parents know his secret (and Vlad's) could've built a better arc for them and a better season 3 but that's just me.

I remember reading a fic about Danny finding surveillance devices from Vlad in his room, his parents found out, validly freaks out about a grown man creeping on their kid. Except it's because they're enemies, not because Vlad is creeping on a child. I mean, he is, but, I digress.
Apparently the father of Danny is a Mamma Mia situation, where the possible fathers are Jack, Vlad, and Bruce Wayne. The parents decide that the best way to keep the mayor of the town from creeping on their kid is to see if possible father #3 can take said kid in while they figure things out.
I thought I bookmarked it. Apparently not.

For me, it's the moment in One of a Kind where Danny gets a C on his report of the gorilla. Okay sure, C isn't even a bad grade, but come on! A close encounter with one of the rarest animals is worth an A- at least and Mr Lancer has the nerve to tell him to use the library? That's not cool.
Remember, you only get One and you need to overall make it count.
Hey Guys, This show popped into my head after 22 years, I have a very specific question for some of the older folks out here on this sub.
There was a fight scene Danny had somewhere in the City, and I remember there was a shot where he gets sent flying backwards and crashing into a wall. The camera shot was really cool because it was tracking, facing him, flying backwards with him over the city street, as Danny is flying backwards crashing into the wall.
I don't think it was from the Movie, I think it was from one of the later seasons. Does anyone have any idea?
( I think he crashes into his apartment building, Sam is there...I think...)
It was a really amazing bit of animation and I've never seen it since. I'd love to see it again.

I feel like kids today forget, that back in the day on Nickelodeon, there was no way to rewatch or replay something. Same with Avatar, the last Airbender coming out, or some of the best SpongeBob jokes you just had to catch them in the moment as they aired, and you'd be lucky to see it again, or catch a recap episode. There was no way to recapture it so witnessing those moments of stellar animation always felt special.

I really liked it, i'm down for any evil version of Danny and for some drama with his identidy in Amity Park, and any episode where Sam fucks up and the narrative acknowledges she fucked up. Also, Freakshow it's an amazing villain, it's good to see a human antagonist who's not annoying (Dash) or boring asf (Men in White) and that fully comits to being a VILLAIN. It's also one of the only episodes where Sam and Danny's relationship develops in an interesting way other than ''will they won't they'''.
