Boulter Estate Housez

I would like to know how the Boulter road Berrimah and the houses are at the Boulter estate?

Is that a secured area for long term living and is there anything that needs to be looked into?

Anyone in Darwin who lives there and has any feedback?

Nine shareholders vote for regional sale to WIN

Nine shareholders have today unanimously voted in favour of selling off their regional TV assets to WIN Television, including Nine (NTD-8) Darwin. The competition watchdog ACCC had already approved the deal.

It means for Darwin viewers, there will almost certainly soon be changes coming to Nine Darwin. The arrival of WIN Television into the NT will see the end of the currently Newcastle-produced 9News Darwin mini-bulletins, to likely be replaced with short, generic, WIN News noodle updates. As for a full bulletin, if it were to return, it would have the WIN News branding, and would serve the entire NT, from Darwin to Alice Springs.

Chan Ward Council By-election

Time to discuss the candidates!

  1. Manik Gowda

  2. Nick Kirlew

  3. Annette Glllanders

  4. Clarence CJ McCarthy-Grogan

  5. Mirella Fejo

  6. Lenny

  7. Shiva Panchalingam

  8. Steve Doherty

There are a couple of unsuccessful candidates from the last council election last year , a previous councillor who was from another ward. Some total newbies for me that I know nothing about. So let's share the knowledge!

Darwin LAN update: we’ve started getting the old-school servers ready

I posted a little while ago about putting together a BYO PC LAN in Darwin.
We’ve now started getting the servers ready and this is the sort of list we’re working with.

Bit of a nostalgia bomb: TF2, Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat, Battlefield 2, PVK2, TrackMania, Quake 3, UT2004, Jedi Academy, Factorio, OpenRA and a few more.

This isn’t meant to be a locked-in tournament list. It’s more about having a bunch of easy jump-in games ready so people can just plug in and start playing.

LAN starts at 9am. There’s also a secret challenge planned, which may or may not involve regrettable old hardware.

Seats are capped because it’s BYO PC and we only have so much power/network space.

What else should be on the backup list? Bonus points for old Darwin LAN memories. Tickets here darwingamers.org

Why are rental prices in the suburbs still so completely cooked

I am looking at shifting out of my current sharehouse and the prices being asked for basic two bedroom units in the northern suburbs are absolute madness. Half the places look like they haven't been updated since the 1980s but landlords are still demanding premium capital city rates. It feels like single income workers are completely getting priced out of the market

How is walking in Darwin?

So I (27F, 5'10) do long distance walking in cities all over the country but particularly in the greater Sydney area where I live and am looking to do some walks in Darwin since I have never been before. I have heard some things about the safety of certain parts though and it's unlike a lot other rough parts of the country. The walk I want to do starts at Lee Point and heads south and remains relatively coastal

Should I be fine with the route I have picked? Are there no go areas, even in broad daylight? Or should I be fine so long as I keep to myself?

How do you think the CLP is doing so far?

Well it's been around a year and a half since the last NT election, how good do you think the CLP has done at governing? What have they done well and what have they done poorly? Personally I didn't vote for the CLP and I don't think they have done a good job. I know reddit leans left so this probably isn't an accurate representation of the general population but oh well. Curious to know what you guys think and why, cheers
