Walking pads

Hi folks,
Has anyone here bought a walking pad? Where did you get it? How was delivery being in Darwin? It’s cool enough to go walking now but the build up eventually be back. I used to have a normal treadmill but it was just too big in my unit.

Darwin locals

I just wanted to say that I've never in my life felt so included and loved as I do in Darwin.

This city is just full of beautiful souls even though we have some odd problems as well haha.

Must be the warm climate's doing.

NTG jobs

Who here works in an NTG department that has come from another state finds that their job is an utter shitshow?

The anecdotes shared from my partner, colleagues, and friends bewilders me. Hubris, incompetence, poor management, narcissist's galore, dearth of talent, plainly toxic work environments.

They're desperate to keep growing the population, however, enable countless fuckheads to bully and manipulate to where people can't wait to leave.

Who hear shares this opinion, I'd also love to hear those who disagree with this to give me some hope.

Am very pro Darwin apart from this factor.

Make Territory Day a public holiday

Territory Day is easily one of the best nights of the year in the NT, but most people still have to work on 1 July and then back up again the next morning.

It is the day that marks the Territory gaining self-government and it is one of the few celebrations that genuinely feels like it belongs to all Territorians.

Other states have public holidays for major local events. I reckon it is time we did the same for Territory Day and gave people the chance to properly enjoy the celebrations with their families and communities.

I’ve started a petition calling on the NT Government to make Territory Day a public holiday.

https://www.change.org/territoryday

Would be great to get some support and hear what others think.

IT in Darwin

im about to graduate from my masters in IT.

right now i'm working for an US based company. the contract will end on sept 30, and i'll be pretty much jobless.

I've got good amount of experience working in Cloud, Security and SWE sector mostly on HealthCare and IoT companies.

how realistic is it to get an IT / Cloud job if I stay in Darwin? I'm scared if I will just be replaced with a SKILL.md file if I don't get into industry fast enough.

Remember to report people letting off fireworks after 1st

These pricks letting off fireworks after 1st will get our fireworks restricted. Enough people get pissed off, it will happen.

So report them to save our fireworks

Darwin CBD turned into a used fireworks dump on Territory Day

'It is what it is' or should we do better? Compared to the Northern Suburbs, the Darwin CBD was a temporary dump late last night, early morning.

Where to buy a decent camera drone in Darwin? (noob looking for recs)

Hey darwin people, i've been wanting to get into camera drones for a while now and finally got some cash put aside. Dry eason is perfect timing wanna capture those insane harbour sunsets, the tides coming in or some footage over the mangroves near east point reserve. Anyone flying one around here? Leaning towards a Dji mini something (4 or 5 pro) to keep it under 250g and easy for beginners. Camera on them looks really sharp for 4k stuff, especially in the golden hour light, reckon a solid kit with spare battery would set me back 600-900 bucks or so.

Where are you guys getting yours in darwin? any local shops or good online options with fast delivery to the nt? Also whats the go with good flying spots and times without causing drama with rangers or locals? first time flyer here, don't wanna bin it straight away haha.

Mereenie Loop

I realise this isn't close to Darwin but wasn't sure if there was a central Aus subreddit.

Has anyone driven the Mereenie Loop between Kings Canyon and Alice Springs since the weekend rain? I'm just wondering about the current road conditions and if a RAV4 could handle it. The staff in Yulara felt that if it hadn't been washed out it would be fine.
