Electric fires locally

Hi, my wife is wanting to get an electric fire (the media wall type) but is mega picky. She wants to go and view them in person before purchasing one. Is there anywhere local she could go to view some with a load of them on display?

Hi,
we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Westminster’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Famille vs. Kachina Southwestern Grill), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

Here’s the iPhone version, with categories that actually fit Westminster’s food scene:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota-restaurant-ratings/id6744969212

And here’s the Android version (finally live):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

P.S. I’m not from Westminster (I live in Gothenburg). I’m not collecting data, not selling anything, and the app does not use AI-generated content. I’m posting in a few different subreddits because we now support more regions, and I genuinely want honest feedback from people who actually know the area.

Men's salon/barber recommendation

Recently moved to Derby and need to find a new place to get my hair cut. I have long hair though, so a normal barber won't do. Need someone who can scissor cut. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

39M Does anyone want to come to theatre/West end show with me. Derby based but we can travel

So looking for a new friend to go to a show with. Never been to one so hoping to meet someone with a like minded interest. Not a massive drinker so just there for good vibes. Looking for a friendship, if it turns into more then great if not then no problem.

Dodgy landlord

Just rented a property from key properties in Derby and I’m already regretting it. I was meant to move in within the next two weeks but haven’t heard anything back and they take days to respond to my emails. Anyone had any experiences with this company? Upon looking at their google reviews I am filled with more dread😭

Help needed

Hiii.
So, I’m moving from Derby next week and I have some furniture I’m trying to sell. I’ve been trying for a while but facebook marketplace is dead.
I was wondering if anyone is looking for the following: a kettle (it’s sage green, used for two years), a bedside table (baby blue, also used for two years, originally from Dunelm) and a firm ikea mattress with ikea bedframe.
If yes, please don’t hesitate to reach out, I’m eager to get rid of these things!!

Advice welcome! :)

I’m doing some local research for a potential small café idea in Derby. Would people actually visit a welfare first cat café here, or is it not something people are interested in?

Reasonably priced vet in Derby

Can someone please advise if there are any reasonably priced vets in Derby for a cat to do a dental assessment? Scarsdale Pride Park quoted £299 for a dental assessment alone and I am quite shocked the assessment is priced that high when a standard consultation alone is about £60-70. I looked up online and it says dental assessments costs from £200 to £500. Is the £299 price really the lowest price in Derby? Ta

Looking to meet people working on their "startups" in Derby

Hi,

I’m 30M lawyer i live in Derby and London, and I’m currently building my own legal tech startup. Still pretty early stage and I’m new to the startup scene here.

Would love to connect with other founders or people working on their startups (especially in tech/legal/tech-enabled businesses) who are also grinding away on their own projects. Whether you’re a first-timer like me or more experienced, happy to grab a coffee, pint, or just chat.

Thanks! 🚀

Anyone else doing remote sales/cold calls in Derby?

I’m a remote sales guy in Derby doing cold calls and outbound stuff. Usually set up at different cafés working. Anyone else around doing similar remote sales work? Keen to link up for coffee, work together sometimes, or just share insights, hmu!

Edit, I sell lead gen services to HVAC companies in the US. Average deal size is $5-10k, and they’re not totally cold prospects opt in through ads first.
