Hi,
we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Westminster’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Famille vs. Kachina Southwestern Grill), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

Here’s the iPhone version, with categories that actually fit Westminster’s food scene:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota-restaurant-ratings/id6744969212

And here’s the Android version (finally live):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

P.S. I’m not from Westminster (I live in Gothenburg). I’m not collecting data, not selling anything, and the app does not use AI-generated content. I’m posting in a few different subreddits because we now support more regions, and I genuinely want honest feedback from people who actually know the area.

Best thing about Derby?

You get a lot of negativity about Derby posted online so I want to know what you think the best thing about Derby is? For me it’s the roundabouts in Sinfin, there’s so many it reminds me of Milton Keynes.

General Advice for people on the r/ meeting up!

Noticed a lot of people doing meetup/looking for friends posts and just wanna remind people:

  • Don't meet somewhere you don't know
  • Make sure someone knows who/where you're meeting
  • Meet in a public place
  • Have your own way home
  • Don't get in random people's cars
  • Keep your expensive shit at home
  • Trust your gut if something feels off
  • Don't be a moron

I know stuff like this is common knowledge some people on this r/ are so nice and friendly all it takes is one dickhead to take advantage and something bad happens to someone.

BUT If you do have a fun time let everyone else know :D

(If you have any other things to add just comment them below)

Carer needed to help me get out and about once a week

Hello,

I'm a disabled person based in Derby and I'm looking for a honest, punctual and chatty person to care fir me for 3 hours a week on a Saturday one week and a Sunday the next. Your responsibility would be to help me go out and do the things I love such as: go shopping, go to the park, visit national trust, go to the Peak District etc.

I have a physical disability and am registered blind, support is more companionship and things like pushing my wheelchair etc. No personal care required.

The hourly rate is £16 & £0.40 fuel expenses per mile.

You must drive and be willing to provide a dbs.

Please message me on 07949549558 if interested!

I live in Derby and wanted to go to a cool antique place, but a big one, not a small 15 minute walk around one.., I want to go to one where I can walk around with the Mrs and have a good day out from it. Any suggestions?

Recently qualified PT looking for experience

Hey, apologies if this isn't allowed, but I'm not looking for any paid clients or trying to promote a business (I haven't started one yet).

I've just finished my PT qualifications and I'm looking for a few people who'd be willing to let me gain some practical experience working with them. I'm offering 3 completely free sessions, mainly so I can build up some experience, get some feedback on how I can improve, and have something to add to my CV while I figure out how I want to go about setting up as a PT over the next few months.

I plan to specialise in working with clients with Neurodiversity, but I'm open to everyone generally.

There's absolutely no obligation to continue after the 3 sessions, and I'm not looking for payment or trying to turn this into clients.

I'm also more than happy to hear any advice from people who have been working as PTs for a while, particularly if you have any tips on getting started. Thanks!

Library or workplaces

Hi guys, I'm travelling up from the South, my Airbnb doesn't allow check-in until 2PM - I arrive to Derby around 10AM, I was just wondering if there is anywhere I can sit and do some work like a library or any quiet, safe place?

Never travelled to Derby before so any help would be much appreciated! Thank you :)
