How to keep my Sanity high when using Dark Sword?

I just bought the game recently and still don't have that much knowledge about the game. Usually I use tentacle spike that I get from killing tentacles as my primary weapon. Now, I'm looking for another alternative for stronger weapon. I have a lot of nightmare fuel, so I think dark sword could be an interesting choice. But when I looked up at the wiki, it says it drains the sanity.

How to keep my sanity high when using dark sword? Should I just pile up a lot of sanity recovery foods? Or are there any gear or items that can prevent the sanity loss?

Thank you in advance for visiting this post.

I like the geme but it is a bit too slow

Just got the game today and spent around 3 or 4 hours?

By the 4th run I easily reached day 18.

I camped near the morsels, put a few traps and had meat rotting because I couldn't eat it all.

So I spent my days collecting resources to expand the base.

I didn't build walls but had the science and alchemy things, 3 boxes, lightning rod, Crockpot and the heating rock.

My issue is, all those days were almost completely uneventful. I had an attack from a wolf one day which was easy to kill, and then on around day 16 a pack of wolves which spiked the difficulty out of nowhere. For 2 hours that was the only action.

The rest of the game is fun but it lacks action.

Am I doing something wrong

Attempting to beat don't starve completely blind.

I have seen that dont starve is a very popular survival game. But somehow i managed to never see a single bit of the gameplay so yesterday i bought the game and am now attempting to somehow beat it.

Things i have found out:

You can cook practically anything

If your next to a fire at night the monsters cant get you

Do NOT hit the frogs

How to hunt rabbits

Anyways wish me luck guys and i will hopefully post again if i manage to beat it!

What do you like or enjoy about the game?

My friend gave me this game as a gift; he loves it and wanted to play with me, but from the start, it didn’t really call to me. I think the art style—huge heads with little bodies in that Tim Burton-esque way—is ugly, and combined with the goofy animations, I just don’t like it. I had also heard about "confusing mechanics" or something like that, but I still decided to try it with my friend, I had a commitment, after all.

You can skip my experience and go directly to the end, since I don’t think it's that important, but if you want to read it, here it is:

The first issue was not knowing what to do. We were just running around collecting stuff while my friend kept telling me, “Don’t go over there, don’t touch that, don’t get near that, stay away from that,” etc. Well, I know now he was actually looking for gold while I was already getting a little bored.

He found it, set up a base, and then we started to thrive. This was the only time I felt something similar to fun in the game: actually creating items, discovering things, and fighting some of the “don’ts.”

Then winter came. It made things more difficult, but not impossible, however, I found no way to get my sanity back without flowers. My friend died (who knows how), a boss appeared, I managed to get away from it, but the shadows killed me. It doesn't help that every item brokes or decays very quickly, tho we never ran out of food.

I thought spring was going to be easier once the flowers were back, but no—just unstoppable raining that was chilling us to death even with a hat and umbrella on. I died to some other mob, and now we had 50%-25% max health without the potion to restore it back. My friend insisted on keeping on playing even under those poor conditions, he even seemed to enjoy it, until I finally convinced him to restart. We did for a few days, but I just didn’t feel like it anymore.

I guess it’s a mix of the—in my opinion—ugly art style, the pressure from my friend to try it, the "not knowing what to do", very simple combat mechanic, and the lack of a feeling of progression, but I didn’t enjoy the game. It’s not the difficulty, since I enjoy difficult games like Dark Souls, Sekiro, Project Zomboid, Darkest Dungeon, etc.

I don’t think the game is bad, but maybe it’s just not for me. However, I would like to give it one last try another time, and for that, I want to ask: what do you guys like or enjoy about it? Maybe with a different perspective, I can find a way to enjoy the game.

This is my first time making it past 40, and my first world where I could kill Deerclops AND Goosemoose.

I had no idea how crazy this game could get.

I have wortox but when i choose him i spawn as Wilson.

I was playing on PlayStation and when I connected the two accounts, all my items appeared. However, when I select Wortox, I don't spawn with him. What can I do?

I tried a farm with coal stones

It's not very efficient

coals at maximum temperature deal 4 damage per second, besides scaring monsters. It takes more than a minute for a spider to die, and the coals can also burn items placed on them

A masterpiece I made for my friend group before we began our annual 2 week DST phase.

I made this drawing a year ago and encountered it randomly, wasn't clever enough to find a good title for this but just wanted to share it, so I ask for your help to find a good "when the..." quote.

The Constant, in Tomodachi Life!

I really love Don't starve, and decided to create an Island for it. I'm including every character I can, so the woman between Woodie and Wheeler is Lucy (Woodie's Axe) and the one between Wurt and Wickerbottom is a friend's OC, Wilde. Also going to add all cut characters other than Pyro, make everyone custom clothes like Wormwood's, but I'm waiting on that. Level 99 and 28 Mii's so far.

What is everyone doing at endgame

Hey survivors!

So I'm 1300+ days into my world and I've downed every boss to date multiple times (except misery Toadstool because I just don't know if I want to spend 45 mins fighting it), I have a base that I'm pretty happy with and everything is explored.

Just wondering what the rest of you are doing when you're at the endgame stage? Looking for ideas. I feel like I go on to play and I'm just putzing around until the ink blights re-spawn to keep filling my coffers for tatters.

Other than starting a new world, which I just don't really have any interest in, I'm at a loss. So tell me what you're doing!

TIL: keeping the mooncaller in the altar makes an infinite light and cold source.

Just a neat little tip I found out about the mooncaller staff on a vid.

Here's how it looks. THIS IS THE VID

I generally don't know what I'm doing

I'm playing just Vanilla don't starve single player trying to beat all the DLC to work my way up to DST. I've run into the problem of not knowing what to do and getting bored/ losing interest. So how do I make my game more enjoyable and learn what to do? For my progress I've made it to the 2nd tier science machine.
