Inn of the Last Home modelled in C4D.

The beginning of my DragonLance fan project.

I was a huge fan of the books since I read the Chronicles and Legends in my teens in the 90s.

Recently I decided to start making a personal project based on the series to practice all different aspects of 3D and compositing. Hope to be sharing more of the project here as I go along.

I’m new to this setting

So I’m super new to this setting and curious what makes this setting work as is and what’s unique? I have looked online and don’t see much answers that like explain it well I guess. I keep seeing this setting as this great thing.

Let's say you want to play Dragonlance in D&D 5.5e in the Age of Mortals...

For the purposes of this thread, forget the idea that W&H reset the timeline. :)

A little context -- a few years ago I released "A Pandemonium of Draconians" on the DMs Guild, but then life took over and I didn't follow it up. Fast forward to now, and I have a few half-started projects that I might want to dust off, clean up, and put out there for the world. However, IMO, the Age of Mortals era is better for 5e / 5.5e than the classic Age of Despair/War of the Lance era. The ease of healing and different "power sources" for classes in 5e, just make more sense to me in the Age of Mortals.

So tell me, what would you want to see in terms of Dragonlance content for D&D 5.5e, that touches upon the Age of Mortals -- or touches on something else that's not the War of the Lance time period?

what are the core themes of dragonlance, from a TTRPG perspective?

So, I'm going to narrate a new campaign, and my players decided to go for Dragonlance. I've read a few novels as well as some old comics (from the 80s/early 90s I guess?) but in order to properly prepare, I wanted to ask the hive mind:

What are the main things I should emphasize in order to make my players feel we're playing Dragonlance and not just "Forgotten Realms but we kill dragons"? Things from adversaries, general themes, etc. would be enormously helpful.

Thank you very much for your help :)

Fizban makes his case for being chaotic good in Dragonlance comic #4 (Jan 1989) also a bonus image from the same issue because the cover is awesome if you ignore the nipple hooks

Send Help! Book Quotes Needed

Hi 👋
My father in laws birthday is coming up and to surprise him, I’m rebinding some Dragonlance books into his own personal special editions. To make them special I wanted to put a short quote from the book on the back cover. The problem is I haven’t read them and I don’t have time to read them before his birthday. This is where I’m hoping y’all can lend a hand.

The books I’m rebinding are:
Dragonlance Chronicles Ominbus
Dragonlance Legends Omnibus
The Legend of Huma
Kaz the Minotaur

If people have suggestions please drop them below and let me know which book it’s for. I really want to make these special for him, so I’m hoping you can grant me some wisdom!

Here’s the new Magius story I’m more interested in this fall!

Coming this fall!

THE SPELLS OF MAGIUS: WIZARD'S DAGGER

Fantastic cover art by Elena Zambelli!

A brutal attack on a Solamic patrol leaves the two survivors caught in the midst of a dangerous plan put together by the wizard, Magius, who has infiltrated the ranks of Galen Dracos's renegades by declaring himself a traitor. However, while, on the surface, Magius's plan appears to be a straightforward attempt to thwart Galen Dracos from completing his monstrous magical orb, the war wizard has a more personal reason for his subterfuge that could, in the end, risk everyone and everything...

THE SPELLS OF MAGIUS: WIZARD'S DAGGER!

=====

As indicated above, this novella takes place near the time of THE LEGEND OF HUMA, and will stay focused on what I've written in the novel. It will, of course, have no ties to the trilogy by Margaret and Tracy --- which everyone should definitely check out --- and is considered non-canon by WOTC. Nevertheless, I hope you'll welcome it as you have the previous two projects.

And if you haven't picked them up yet, please check out our KAZ & HUMA projects!

Need help with Shadow Dragon reward

My Level 14 party is finishing up a quest for an evil Ancient Shadow Dragon - Fade - where they rescued and returned her eggs, the last one having hatched in transit. They named her Yamakage ~ “Shadow of the Mountain”

My idea is for Fade to reward them with plenty of lore and information as well as a choice:

- they could keep her now humanoid tainted shadow wyrmling (Yamakage), but it would be hunted by her other spawn as training to make them strong.

OR

- they could each receive a shadow talon boon from her that would give each person a 1/day Pass without a Trace, Summon Shadowspawn or Misty Step or something comparable. HOWEVER, to activate the spell they would need a shadow dragon talon to stab their shadow with. (If they pick this: The talons would then be ripped from Yamakage who would then be fed to her siblings)

TLDR: what boons would a shadow dragon mother give the party who returned her stolen child?

EDIT: Fade is evil aligned and hired the group only because even though she is sworn to Takhisis, she doesn’t want her eggs changed to draconians

EDIT 2: probably leaned in too hard on the evil aspect lol. I’m now considering the boon to be “Shadow Travel” which will essentially be Teleportation (2/day). They take a shadow dragon talon and scratch into the shadows of those traveling and they will be teleported to the destination. Yamakage is fine 😅😂

Shadow of the Dragon Queen Liveplay

Hey all, I was wondering if there’s a highly recommended decent audio quality live play for Shadow of the Dragon Queen? I’m interested in eventually running the module and nothing gets me excited to run like hearing how much fun other people are having!
