Besides being a cute dog, why would I play Phelia instead on Cloud?

and besides play style i guess?

but since Cloud is being proved more consistent and stronger than phelia since FF set came out, why would someone play phelia instead of him?

Having a tutor on CZ, a card that do something when enters, and the stupid bunch of draw, feels like the deck just do everything better.

Advice on midrange/agro jund

I was looking for a place to play some good midrange/agro Jund deck, and came up with this pile of cards that can play agro or value

https://moxfield.com/decks/16wAUczxPEqKg9TE7g3YBA

It's inspired from Canadian Highlander winning decklists, without the banned cards that we have here in DC of course, and a few favourites to replace them.

I'm just wondering if you'd have any advice for improvement here.

I'm not attached to the commanders, I just like that they provide me an agro play and the colours, compared to Slimefoot and squee that is 3 cmc, a mana slot already crowded and I don't have a big reanimation plan.

I'm especially doubting my removal pile, in a SP99 meta, resolving a kill spell seems important.

Can shock lands replace dual lands for 5-color commander?

So I’m making [[The Ur-Dragon]] but most list I found use dual lands which I, obviously, can’t afford any of them so I’m thinking to use shock lands instead. It’s gonna be painful, I know, but probably the closet thing I could afford now.

This is my first time I’m going to do 5-color commander too and he is a dragon so I’m looking forward to try

Why is Vivi so underplayed compared to Spider-Man? Looking for meta insights and deck ideas

Hey everyone!

I was browsing MTG Top8 looking for some new decks to try out, and a question popped into my head: why is Vivi seeing so little play? Isn't it a viable alternative to Spider-Man? Are there any specific reasons why it's weak in the current meta?

Also, how would you build around it? What creatures and playstyle would you go for? Tempo, Control, or something else entirely?

Thanks in advance for your answers, I'm really curious to hear your thoughts!

Asking for more deck Help

Hello again everyone!

After the first round of deck building and thinking Hogaak was legal I’m back asking for some more advice from those who know how to brew. I have discovered my love for value and have been tweaking an ETB deck with Aminatou at the helm. My hope was to make a midrange deck that can play a solid game while out grinding whatever I’m up against but from my research on MTGTop8 it looks like the general consensus is a control shell is the smarter and safer play.

This is where I’m stuck as I have cobbled a near 100 but still short cards and even then I’m not fully convinced that the cards are good enough. (Though that may be more of my internal monologue doubting everything.)

Many of the cards I’ve added were to pull double duty to be good in both the early game and the late game. The soul stone allowing me to make double plays on a later turn or to reanimate more value seemed reasonable and Virtue of Persistence being early removal or an eventual engine looked like potential on paper.

The Mind stone and Air benders Ascension are additional cards that looked like they had potential with pulling double duty but, as I said, deck building has never been a strong point of mine so I didn’t know if I was on to something or if they were a bit to cute to include.

The final thought as I was going through my rares was if there could be some artifact shell that could be stronger than what I was already trying. Urza, Lord High Artificer, Simulacrum Synthesizer and Krang have powerful ETB’s and are strong cards in of themselves but would be doing a ton of brewing because most people are leaning harder on counters than artifacts and so forth.

I hope this word vomit makes sense as my meta is friends of mine who either net deck some of the bigger decks or bringing their own amalgamations but I do hope to push Value town to the best iteration possible so any and all advice would be appreciated because the last time I asked I learned of the correct ban list and that was already an eye opener! (Also, in the mana base there is 6 snow covered plains and that’s a place holder till I can trade for better lands.) Thank you guys in advance!

Is this okay?

First of all, YES, One tournament doesn't really mean anything.

But as we all know, it's not only one tournament, this latest 3*+ tournament just showcase what we all know is happening.

The meta is not *adapting* spider99, it's adopting it, just yesterday I played a tournament with 34 players and it had 8 spider99. (I played against 3 of them and won all 3 matches, this is not a "I lost to X deck post")

I don't think the commander itself has to be banned but something should be done about it, it has all the insanely good blue control shell, the commander can be 2 mana removal and you can threaten an OTKO at turn 4.

Either the haste stuff has to be banned, it only really matters for spider anyway, it wouldn't hurt any other deck, or something else, I don't know what, but something.

Everyone in our pod plays two and threes and we have a guy who keeps pulling out four/fives cause that’s the only decks he makes. our pod is a friend group, but he’s very set in his ways. What is the best way to Counter play this commander?

New to the format and wanna make some decks!

Hello and good day! Myself and a few other EDH friends are going to build/revamp some of our decks to play DC.
I was thinking about using jackal for a creature heavy deck and ragost as my artifact heavy deck. Are there any particular cards I want to be on the look out for in my collection for deck building?

Side note: I am missing black so ragost may become a mathas deck if I feel like I need another colour. Has anyone ever done an artifact reanimator mathas deck in DC?

First top tier deck to approach the format

Hi!
Few friends play Duel and I've never played commander in my life and only play premodern so I'm completely unfamiliar with the card pool, but do I own most of the cards I would need to build basically any deck.

I would like to start playing the format with the most straight forward to play of the top tier deck, so that I can focus more on getting to know the card pool and meta.

What would you suggest ?

Why no one played Crystal Inhuman Princess

Hey I was looking into [[Crystal Inhuman Princess]] for bracket 3 regular edh and could bare make it work because she was easily drifting bracket 4. After some research I found even more cedh deck lists. however I was surprised that I could not find any for duel commander. is it because 4 color in a 1 on 1 is to slow?

Help with Toph, Greatest Earthbender

I'm new to duel commander, and I only started to build this duel deck after pulling the card from a pack earlier this year. Here is my current list: https://archidekt.com/decks/23746822/toph_greatest_earthbender_manlands

After playing it a few times, I feel like the manlands only flavor of the deck is lacking, and since then I have been thinking about incorporating maybe more counter cards (+1/+1). It is in no way optimized because I only used the cards that I currently have.

I'm thinking of buying the singles I need, in order to make this deck play better. Was thinking of reducing protection spells from 9 down to 5, since I want Toph to get killed most of the time anyway. Maybe remove Shadowspear and Skullclamp, too, since I don't have an Urza's Saga yet.

Cards I'm considering to add:

- Bristly Bill, Spine Sower

- Scythecat Cub

- Terrasymbiosis

- Doubling Season

- Ozolith

Any comments on the current list and suggestions for the next version are appreciated. You can roast my list too; I don't mind :D

Duel Commander: 10 Promising Marvel Super Heroes Cards

We sound like a broken record, don't we? The worst part about getting new set after new set so fast is that we have to talk about power creep and irrelevant cards. As we go through these sets, many cards appear to have redeemable qualities but are often slightly upgraded versions of a preexisting card that isn't all that playable. Like so, they might see play in Duel Commander (eventually, or even become a staple, albeit a not very important one). Screaming Nemesis is a wonderful card, but most of the time, it is a Hulking Bugbear. While Nemesis is a staple, no one has ever played a Bugbear in Duel Commander.

In this review and the next ones, I'll try to ignore these cards, the ones that are between a Nemesis and a Bugbear. They might see play eventually, but they shouldn't do much in the format.

What are, then, the 10 promising cards from Marvel Super Heroes that could see play in Duel Commander?

Is Ghyrson Starn viable in Duel Commander, or is he too fragile?

Hi guys!

I'm looking to switch commanders since Spiderman 2099 has become quite boring to play for me.

Staying in Izzet, I'd really like to build Ghyrson. But despite Ward 2, I'm under the impression that a couple of removal spells or a counter on him just ruins your entire game plan.

Is he really that much of a glass cannon? Do you have any tips, decklists to share, or opinions on his viability?

Thank you!
