Celica Mapworks Map Porting, Update, Beacon Academy from RWBY

PythWare here, Celica Mapworks has gone through major fucking growth. You can now port GLB map models to Dynasty Warriors 2 and auto convert the GLB's textures to DW2's TIS file (texure container of TIM files, that's how DW2 handles textures for maps). A lot has changed with Celica Mapworks and Burn Engine. This post shows RWBY's Beacon Academy (images 1-4) ported to DW2 as well as Downtown Vale (also from RWBY, images 5 & 6). Allow me to briefly explain the new design and software

When Celica Mapworks is ran, a new Hub with a rad GUI design will show. I'm still deciding on the transparent 7 spheres or 7 parallelograms for the Hub's GUI but I included both GUI designs to get feedback on which you think looks better. Images 7 & 8 are the 7 sphere approach, creating an orbiting ring. Images 9 & 10 are for the parallelograms approach. When you hover over a sphere or parallelogram it glows. So please, let me know which you like more. Feedback people, if you view the post, give feedback if you can on which Hub design you like more.

Celica Mapworks

The main renderer and editor of maps, if you missed previous posts it can now mod the maps of DW2 and reflect ingame since DW2 now plays in host file system mode. Also supports modding AI pathfinding data so that the AI controlled troops can properly navigate new maps whether they're ported maps or modifications of existing dw2 maps.

SkinWorks

Tool for converting map textures to TIMs and builds the TIS file the maps need.

ScrapWorks

Tool for disabling map files not needed when porting GLBs to DW2

TorqueWorks

Tool for converting GLB models to OBJ (not wavefront OBJ, DW2 has a propietary map format that just happens to have the .obj extension), creating valid VIF1 packets for the meshes (PS2 era after all) for DW2 to render ingame.

FuseBox

Handles modding Event data of maps, useful when you're porting a map to DW2 that doesn't need the specific events of say, Chibi

Misc Toolworks

Miscellaneous tools, other luxurious software i'm making for DW2 modding that i'll show some other time.

Exit

A sphere you click to exit the Hub, keeps it fancy and unique instead of looking like almost all utility software when exiting apps.

I'd say Celica Mapworks is 85% done, Burn Engine is probably 75% done

I hope yall like the post, Dynasty Warriors 2 is now the most moddable game Koei Tecmo has ever released. The modding future for DW2 burns bright.

What’s the battle art I’m missing? I suppose it’s not the UW bow and rope dart BA?

Cause I’m still at 96% before and after unlocking and use the UW challenge Bow battle art.

I won’t be able to unlock the rope dart ember bloom battle art as it’s too hard 😭

DW3 is kind of annoying

I'm just a casual fan of these games, only having played a few titles over the years, so don't crucify me for this opinion. I was in the mood for some 3 Kingdoms action and I know the PS2 titles are fan favorites + this game is getting a remake so I thought I'd try it out. On one hand, it is pretty addicting like these games tend to be, and I can see why people like the difficulty of it. The peons actually fight, are meaningful to the battle, and controlling their spawn points (the gates) helps shape the control of battle. The power fantasy is more in line of a badass wuxia warrior on a battlefield (like the novel...) as opposed to a superhero of something like a more recent title, where you start to wonder why they even need the peons. That said, there are several parts that make the game difficult in a way that is more frustrating than satisfying, and they all work in concert with one another:

- Every little thing stunlocks you. If a peon so much as breathes in your direction your character gets stunlocked. Then they can juggle you or even hit you with their own Musous (peons have that in this entry). Which wouldn't be so bad if you could avoid it but...

- The camera sucks and it's easy to be hit by people off screen because of it. You have no control over the camera besides centering it behind you with the block button. You'll want to be using the block a lot, especially with officers, or you'll quickly be stunlocked and combo'd into oblivion. To block you need to be perfectly still and facing the right direction, which again is reasonable, except the 'facing the correct direction' part can be a little finicky with the bad camera. Also, blocking doesn't protect you from...

- The archers. Fuck these guys. They do a decent chunk of damage, can hit you from beyond the render distance and break your block, stunlocking you and letting you get combo'd by whoever is next to you.

Honestly if the remake just changes these issues, the game would be a blast. Change nothing else but giving me full camera control, making it easier to counter snipe archers, and maybe ease up on the stunlocks, and I'd put dozens of hours into it. Which I'm doing anyways but my blood pressure would be lower, haha.

Dead but alive?

I’m playing Taishi Ci’s story in DW3 and currently playing The Battle at He Fei stage at the moment and I couldn’t help but notice Sun Jian is still alive. Mind you before you reach this stage you play the stage where he dies by getting crushed by a boulder. I didn’t even realize until I was late moments into the stage and he said something. I thought to myself “Wait aren’t you supposed to be dead by now?” I know sometimes this happens with Guan Yu at Yi Ling, I wonder if they’ll fix this once the remaster comes out or it’s just going to stag as is

Give me your pick for the Dynasty Warriors game with the best opening cinematic! Top comment will be added to the image!

Previous Post - Origins had the most beauty in the eyes of the beholders, so on the list it goes again. 2nd place was 5 for its sandy aesthetic.

Once again, here's the rules:

  • Gotta be a Dynasty Warriors game
  • No Licensed Spinoffs like Hyrule Warriors or DW Gundam
  • No franchises spawned from DW's success like Samurai Warriors, Warriors Orochi, Kessen, etc
  • Xtreme Legends and Empires are being assessed independently of their base game counterpart

Really needed help on DW Origins Hex Mark Stage

Stage: Shu - Chibi

Ultimate warrior mode, DWO

Level 107. only have shadow runner and the DLC red hare.

I can't win. Either Liu Bei dies or Sun Quan dies. Used bronze gong, luan weapon.

A. I went to clear east side warriors first. Then go to Zhuge liang cuz he was half health. And then Liu Bei dies.

B. If I continue to kill the big named warriors, Zhugeliang will die.

Can anyone suggest me how to do this? I searched online majority said its an easy match, but it was so hard for me... must be sth I didnt do right.

Warriors: Abyss, a couple of questions (Switch 2)

I just got into the series through Origins and I'm loving the game. KT is having a sale on the Nintendo eShop for the moment, and I have a couple of questions, mostly to do with the DLC.

  1. Does the game get any kind of performance boost on Switch 2? I notice it doesn't have its own S2 edition yet, but some Square Enix games, for example, got a free patch to bump frame rate up to 60fps. Other games have unlocked frame rates that the Switch 2 can take advantage of. What's the situation here?

  2. I think I understand the structure of the DLC offerings. Mostly cosmetic, but there is Origins, which offers a new mode, and Origins-versions of DW characters which are gameplay variants of the original ones.

My question here is one of cost and necessity. Even on discount, I think pretty much every individual DLC is more expensive than the base game.

Is it worth it and/or necessary to get all the Origins-related stuff? For the record, I like roguelikes/roguelites, and I enjoyed Hades, which seems like the game's closest inspiration.

That being said, I don't know how this game actually compares to the greats in the genre, especially as a newcomer to Dynasty Warriors for whom the brand is not really a premium thing just yet.

Buying the base game for $13 CAD seems like a no-brainer and pretty low risk: if the game turns out to be bad compared to Hades etc., it's not too much money lost.

It's the cumulative price of the addons which is what gives me pause. I would hate to buy just the base game and feel like there was clearly meant to be "more."

I've read and watched some reviews, but they all seem to be from franchise fans rather than roguelike/roguelite fans, so it's hard to get an outside perspective.

Any and all thoughts welcome. Thanks!

Seen this ad of a mobile game but is there a full art of this Diao Chan anywhere?

Seen this ad for a mobile game and was wondering if this diao model/art is reused from a different game or it's all original?

Feels so weird to play without hyper attacks in DW

As a massive SW series fan i’ve been so used to how addictive the hyper attacks feel that playing DW Origins feels so odd after grinding SW 4 DX, 4 II and 5 , i know some people don’t like hyper attacks but so do a large majority like how addictive and fast paced they feel, also one of the reasons why i just couldn’t get into Warriors Orochi because of how different the SW roster plays and its agility and pace

Give me your pick for the Dynasty Warriors game with the best attires! Top comment will be added to the image!

Previous Post - DW6 clears stage design in a landslide. 2nd most popular was DW3, which I wasn't expecting.

DLC Attires can factor into your choice, if you so desire.
