Is the 2010 N62 any more reliable than previous years?

Basically title. I've always wanted a manual e60 550i, and locally is a 2010 in the right spec with all the goodies. Has high mileage and the crossover pipe and valve stem seals have not been done. This would be an enthusiast/weekend car and occasional commuter, not a daily.

Anyways, I'm curious if the last year of the N62 is any more reliable/less likely to need these typical maintenance parts compared to earlier years.

E60 M5 setting records in 2026

These are really going up in value. My manual car is an 08 Lci car too, maybe I should keep the miles off.

Weird Noise

Trying to figure out this noise. It seems to be somewhat RPM driven but also at idle it’ll vibrate. Started happening after getting new tires.

So far i’ve replaced all struts, control arms, ball joints and axles. It’s persistent.

I’m guessing motor mount, trans or diff mounts. Possibly guibo. Motor doesn’t rise when checking for bad motor mount, visual of trans looked fine.

BMW E60 523i 2005

Price Is 4850€ on the road

Grazie in anticipo a chi mi aiuterà a prendere questa decisione♥️

Tuning help.

Car - 2007 e60 530xi 6 speed manual n52.

I have been wanting to enjoy my car more recently, and want a burble tune for my car. It is by no means fast nor do I think it’s a race car but my primitive brain just skyrockets my dopamine when I hear burbles and decided I want them has anyone tried tuning their cars themselves here and can push me in the right direction I don’t mind doing it myself I just want to get told the easiest way to accomplish my goal right now. (Before anyone says it’s a bad idea or this and that save it Ik the consequences of burbles Ik the cats can get clogged this and that idc I just like burbles to each their own)

Today is a sad day for me

Let go of my ‘07 e60 base trim today. Bought at 112k miles for $6200, sold at 156k miles for $3300. Spent $10k+ on regular servicing. 7 years of ownership.

I wanted to keep this classic but my back injury won’t let me drive a sedan anymore.

You will be missed, my friend.

Weird transmission behavior

I have a 530d with the m57 from 2004 and yesterday in the highway the gearbox has some weird behavior with a sudden downshift on D/S mode unnecessary and in manual mode it shifted from 4 to 3rd at more than 120kp/h resulting in more than 4937rpm for a second.

No error on board and got home without any problems but I'm worried the Trans might be dying.

It's not the first time the Trans does something strange. A few months back the car went into limp mode when it shifted from 6 to 5 on highway because it looked like the trans had difficulty shifting and gave out a trans error (Red icon) which went out by removing the key and starting again the car.

I've never seen that error again and in the ecu which I used an OBDLink CX to read it and there's no error from the gearbox.

Here is the link to the latest error code read from the ecu using the bimmerlink app https://share.tomasps.com/u/ylgY0r.jpg

Thanks for your time reading this :)

Lovely car, lowly roof trim…

Love my E60 2006 325i, only 145 000 km on the clock, had her since day 1, she’s 20 years old though and the roof trim is sagging badly. Anyone got a way to fix this without taking everything apart and having new trim installed?

My 100€ project E60 Journey

Long time lurker and felt like I wanted to share my journey of restoring and upgrading this old beauty.

I've always loved the E60 and especially the M5, but for that one I don't have enough money to buy one but perhaps one day.

I had the opportunity to buy this from my friend who ran into an issue with the gearbox. It would not shift into gear anymore and then she took it to a gearbox specialist and they told her that she needs a new ''used'' gearbox and that would cost her 2500€. After some thinking she asked me if I want this car because it was pointless to her to fix it because it had multiple leaks all around the engine and other problems.

Long story short...

I dropped the gearbox oil and took out the mechatronic to find out that the sleeves were absolutely perished and that's why the gearbox could not hold pressure to change gears. So a 2500€ fix was done with new mechatronic sleeves and new oil. That costed me whopping 250€.

Took me a while to get it fixed and to former glory, but today after installing the rear bumper today I can finally call it ''finished'' for now.... (Some things I still have adjust for example the front struts. I have a feeling I did not install them all the way down because the gap is too big)

Things I have done to this car:

- Valvecover gasket

- Oil housing gaskets (Both)

- Mechatronic sleeves and gearbox oil

- Basic maintenance: Oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, cabin filters, brake fluid, spark plugs.

- New water pump, thermostat, serpentine belt and rollers, Mickey Mouse flange

- New brake discs and pads on all corners

- New brake line hoses

- Front struts and shocks. (Front shocks were snapped, classic). Absolutely horror stuff because the bolts were completely seized).

- Bought M-sport bumpers and side skirts and a steering wheel from a scrap car. Restored them and painted them for my color. Restored the steering wheel as well, it was pretty trashed.

Probably bunch of other work was done which I have already forgotten, but that's what comes into my mind for now.

I've received a lot of inspiration from many of you so I decided to share this if this helps someone out there to finish their projects ;-)
