So I finally have Hard Life Garage LLC, Im really excited to be at the beginning with all the unknowns in front of me. Who knows where this will take me, but im taking my camera with me. Every track day, every drag strip, every blown engine and hopefully some good times sprinkled in. ๐๐
Im working with CPE and testing their new cutless engine mount design. Looks like it is going to solve needing to trim the inside lip for the mount. I know alot of tou have followed my journey with my E60s, borh my N54 and V10s. After nearly 2 full years of working on them I finally achieved my goal of getting all my E60s fully restored, everything is basically brand new on all 3 cars. The 535 does have about 2500 miles since its build so thats not "new" anymore, but the other 2 are just now finished. The Red Baron is going to get a paint job soon as I find the right place.
As for what I soent out of my bank account to buy all the parts a d have all 3 cars ru ning how they are now. I could have bought new G80 M3 and had money left over for mods with what it cost to do this. ๐ข But the 2 M5s are staying, im going to sell my 535 to make room for the truck I need to tow my cars to the track. The wife and I just got home from bringing back this extremely well taken care of 2008 factory manual v10 M5. Drove 13.5 hrs straight through and it never broke a sweat. I think I have a sickness when it comes to these cars, I absolutely love them. This car is ridiculously clean for an 18 yr old super saloon. Keep in mind, if you have an NA manual sports car they are most likely going up in value. I think this is my final E60 M5, It doesnt get better than this. Plus this is my 6th E60 and currently have 2 of the M5s. I explained to my wife that the first one would get lonely and therefore we had to. This car is pretty much a fresh as you get, everything on it from brakes to suspension well to nearly everything has been replaced with factory new parts, even has an orginal set of brand new OEM edc struts. Normally I would put coilovers on it, but this car is staying stock expect it has eventuri intakes, full exhaust, and custom tune. The rest is stock. (I am keeping the other M5 i just built, I have been getting some DM's asking if it was going to be for sale. ) Have a great weekend everyone.

So for anyone who has a hard time bleeding your brakes after replacing parts. I replaced the front calipers, lines, master cylinder and brake booster. I was only able to get a solid pedal, under pressure and with the engine off, soon as the engine started it would fail and loose pressure. I was told to try to bleed it at the abs pump when doing the bled procedure with ISTA. In other words dont open the bleeder at the caliper each time you activate the abs in ista, you crack the corresponding line leading to the wheel ista is cycling the silinoid for.
Well after 2 weeks I finally got all the air out.
๐ฉ I swear last week when we bled the brakes it was solid no air. Now the first time i try to drive it the pedal started kind of hard then went to early stopping the car. I thank God its a manual.
So anyone got an idea? Maybe there was air stuck in the abs pump that came out when the car finally rolled and the car bounced and moved around? Or is it a nightmare and after just replacing the master cylinder could it be the brake booster?
Oh also its affecting vacumn, (thats what kind of makes me think booster) because I also got a stumble and rough idle, but no codes. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
In the last 2 weeks I have came across and over came more problems than I have the entire 7 months of this project. My current LCI update on the interior has taken a few different turns. First we were keeping the original single button controller so I didnt have to cut my console out. But it ended not working and after a fee days of trying everything today I cut the console to fit the 7 button controller. This also screwed up my interior trim, I have to do some re wrapping now and I think I want to order some stiching and try that. Here are some photos from just the last few days I tossed into a vid. Cant wait to finalize the paint. ๐ช๐
So I didnt realize till now that the SMG shifter bezel does not fit into the standard e60 LCI trim when upgrading from CCC to CIC. The 2010 bmw e60 M5 is the only one that came with the CIC idrive controller and the SMG shifter bezel. So they are hard to find. Wondering with all the 3d printed parts and how hard it is to find for the guys with a Pre-Lci car thats upgrading to the LCI parts. Would be great if someone already has a solution. I even wrapped the standard lci trim already. That was probably 20$ of Alcantara I wasted. ๐ฎโ๐จ I was going to install my CIC setup yesterday untill i seen this. Talk about feeling stupid. Im getting better at wrapping Alcantara ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I have been restoring an M5 over the last 5 months. I had the front calipers off for 4 of those months. Now that I have refilled the system even using ista I cant get out the air. I have tried the pressure bleeder set at 2 bar.. still couldn't get it out. When the engine runs, the pedal falls to the floor and never gets a hard pedal, when its off either. Tried both vacumn and pressure... someone suggested to crack the breeders open and let gravity do its thing overnight. But I see possible problems there.
So i installed my home made Alcantara trim, I tried to match the Alcantara headliner the car came with, I got really close ( the rest is LCI trim and I need to swap it over ) The trim the car came with was ruined by an ignorant previous owner) Ignore the bad photo quality these were taken in low light.
