Gen M tour

Has anyone been to one of these events?

Saw an insta ad for it and signed up for because I’m bored and considering changing my Z4 out for an M4 convertible.

I know they are to generate sales, I’m just wondering if it’s the high pressure timeshare style approach or I can just say no and get the heck out when I want.

Thanks

F87 M2 - Peak BMW design?

In my eyes the F Chassis was the peak of BMW, in terms of . The F87 seems to be the successor for the beloved E46 M3 which is why I believe it’ll be a true future classic.

Brand new 2026 M4 Comp xDrive jerks really hard and won’t upshift in Sport Plus

Hey everyone, I just picked up a brand new 2026 M4 Competition xDrive last week and I’ve noticed an issue since the very first or second drive. In Sport Plus mode when I accelerate in 2nd gear the car jerks really hard back and forth and refuses to upshift even though it’s in fully automatic mode. A few times it has sat around 5,000 RPM and just wouldn’t shift until I manually did it myself.
The car only has about 150 miles on it now (it already had around 20 miles when I got it from the dealer and the issue started right away). I’ve been very careful during break in keeping rpms under 5,500, zero highway trips, varying the load and waiting for oil temps to reach 200F before any spirited driving. No launches or anything aggressive and there are zero warning lights. I took it to the dealer and they said Sport Plus is supposed to feel aggressive and that this is normal but it feels excessive to me. Fellow G82 owners, does this sound normal during the break in period or does it seem like something might be wrong?

M2 cs vs New M3 cs HS.

Which car would you choose and why?

I’m have a M2cs in Velvet Blue on the way, but I’m thinking of passing and ordering the M3 cs in Techno.

My reasoning: I owned a MT 1995 M3. I’ve always wanted a Techno Violet car. And I have been thinking of getting a manual car to enjoy on those weekend trips. This car would be a garage queen.

Thanks for your comments.

M4 break in period

I’m getting an x drive competition tomorrow . It’s has about 275 miles on it

I understand the break in period to be 1200 miles and then take it in to get tuned.

Are there any modes or configurations I should avoid , or best practices before the tuning ?

Thanks in advance

App Trail plate in IOMG

North Carolina used IOMG (or something pretty close) for their App Trail plate. I was happy to get rid of the ugly standard plate.

KW V3 on G8X Platform

Has anyone driven both stock suspension and KW V3s on the G8X platform?

From what I understand, both OEM and KW V3 dampers are twin-tube with progressive springs, so I’m wondering how big the real-world difference actually is. Can valving alone make a significant improvement, or is the difference more subtle?

I’d appreciate feedback on ride quality, body control, rough roads, and daily driving impressions from people who have experienced both.

BMW M3 cs HS order sheet

My dealer just called and I put in my order. Looks Like Imola Red is a limited color. So if you want that, get the order in early.

Looking at M cars

Been a car guy my whole life, looking for my next fun car. Currently between a c8zo6, an M2/3/4. Not locked into any one style of car, but idk anything about BMW. Would be a bolt on car, what’s the details here. Auto vs manual, AWD vs RWD, etc. would never be a drag car, more of a daily/show/fun car. Any hangups going AWD and adding power? What do I need to know.

Anything to look for if buying used?(2024+) budget of 70k-110k

G80 M3 Z-Pipe

There has been a lot of hype regarding the Z-Pipe. I’m gonna quote ADRO here and say “not for everyone”. I personally have never been a fan of the single mid-pipes tone. However if you’re someone that does enjoy it, by all means MAD has you covered.

I personally like the reduced rasp and higher frequency exhausts that the Z-Pipes produce. However the whole Valvetronic Designs HFD and Yonristic have all the hype but as you know parts are from China. While VD has changed overtime and is now assembled in America I still couldn’t justify $3000 for a full system.

I decided to jump to Alibaba and get a full system for about $1500 with shipping and the results are amazing! Even the installer said the fitment was even easier and better than some of these more expensive companies.

Absolutely no drone and it sounds like a GTR R35 while on throttle and a bit more like a 370Z stationary. If you don’t like how those sound I’d advise the single mid pipe or equal length route.

No further modifications as I’ve only had this car for a month so it has stock downpipes

Alibaba manufacturer I went through was Jiangxi Boska Trading Co.

F87 M2 Competition as a first RWD car

Thinking about getting an F87 M2 Competition (2020–2021) soon. I’m 23 and currently drive a 2022 GR Yaris, which was my first performance car and I absolutely love it. The thing is, the M2 Comp would also be my first RWD car and I’d be lying if I said I’m not a bit intimidated by it lol.

The GR feels super planted and confidence inspiring with the AWD, so jumping into something with a lot more power going only to the rear wheels feels like a pretty big step. I’m not planning to drift it everywhere or drive like an idiot, but I do enjoy spirited driving on back roads and weekend drives.

For people who’ve gone from AWD/FWD performance cars to an F87 M2 Comp, how hard was the adjustment? Is it manageable if you respect it, or is it dangerous as people say?
