Drop the door handles or wrap around them? (The wiring on these new trucks is a total trap)

Man, spent two hours just trying to get the interior door panels off a brand new 2026 F-150 this morning. The amount of computer modules and wiring harnesses they are cramming inside a standard work truck door nowadays looks like a damn spaceship.

The old-school guys always tell you "if you don't pull the handles and mirrors, you're lazy." But honestly, with how fragile these plastic clips are getting and how easy it is to trip an airbag sensor code, i'm really starting to think twice about full teardowns on fleet gigs.

If you prep the recess perfectly and lay down a flawless, hidden inlay, it holds up just fine in the Chicago weather without lifting. If you pull the handle and snap a blind-spot monitor wire, you’re eating a $400 dealer diagnostic fee.

What’s the policy in your shop now? Are you guys still tearing down every single square inch of the doors, or are you starting to utilize clean inlays to save yourselves the electronic nightmare tbh?

What happened with my matte ppf wrap?

I am doing a diy matte ppf wrap from drive protected on a Tesla model 3 and I have thes light swirls or discoloration the day after putting the driver's side door ppf on. The swirls are not on the outside of the ppf and there is nothing on the car under the ppf.

I haven't heat treated or pushed the edges down yet and have just started and let it sit for a day. Is this something I can fix? Is there a way I can prevent this from happening on the other sections?

Will my paint get damaged if i partial wrap my car with designs?

So i wanna wrap my car with a similar design just random shapes, its barely in the sun, parked indoors, driven like 2x a week usually. I’ll be using vivvid film.

My concers is that when i remove the wrap the design will still be there or residue will stay and u can partly see the design even after the wrap is removed. Especially that it’s black it may show more if it does

Rockrose PPF

Hey everyone, I tried using rockrose ppf on my personal car to see how good it is. It was the worst to install.
Even with plain deionized water it would not tack, it would only tack when absolutely dry. Already seeing edges lifting and even edges with no tension applied. Doorcups were an absolute nightmare because you could not tack with anything besides letting all moisture evaporate so it would physically tack. Other than that it has excellent clarity.

Brand question

Does anyone use RGBG brand? I'm interested in one of their PPF color wraps.

Is this a quality brand? If you've used this brand how has it been for you?

Thanks in advance.

No experience wrapping but I want to start a business

Recently this though popped up in my head. I just graduated high school and work in construction with my dad. I hate it especially with this heat, I thought about something I could do full time and wrapping seems like a good skill to learn. Never have felt vinyl wrap much less worked with it. I told my little brother about the idea and he was down to learn. I own a infinity q50 and wanted to wrap it my self to see what I’m getting my self into. I’m my city there’s like 3 reputable wrapping business with 2 of those owning there own shop, the third being in there garage and me I would also have to be in my garage but if I were to do this I feel like if I want to try to build this as fast as possible I would have to devote a lot of time into learning the process because even though I would be a beginner I still don’t want to put out bad work and build a bad reputation. I feel like there more I could say but it’s getting kinda long Thanks in advance for any help or tips

Wrap Removal From Trim

Hi All,

I recently have been working on unwrapping my car. Unfortunately I had some wrap come still tucked behind the window trim. For reference the car is a GR86. If anybody has any advice on how to remove the wrap without taking off the trim please let me know. Thank you in advance!

Anyone else fighting aggressive tack in this July heat?

Man, the humidity is killer today. The AC in my shop is struggling to keep up and it's making this Avery wrap film stick like absolute crazy.

If you're working in a hot bay right now, remember to float the vinyl way higher off the panels before you drop it. The second the hot metal van panel touches the adhesive, it's gonna lock up instantly and you risk bruising the film when you try to snap it back up.

i had to scrap a whole fender graphic this morning because it tacked down before i could even squeegee the air out. Take your time and maybe use a wet buffer edge on your squeegee to help it slide tbh. Stay hydrated out there fellas.

Are your hands completely dead from this new Color PPF trend too? (Price your labor right)

Man, my knuckles are basically arthritis at this point.

We’ve been getting slammed with orders for this new color PPF (paint protection film) trend this year. Don't get me wrong the margins on a full satin black or liquid red PPF job are fantastic compared to standard cast vinyl. But pulling and stretching this thick urethane over complex bumpers in the bay is an absolute workout.

Had a guy bring in a new M4 yesterday for a full color PPF install. It looks exactly like wet paint when it's done, but getting those tension points right without getting stretch lines in the topcoat took me twice as long as a normal Avery or 3M color change.

To the guys making the jump from thin cast vinyl to applying color PPF: charge accordingly tbh. You cannot price a color PPF job like a standard vehicle wrap. It’s way more labor intensive and your hands will feel it by Friday. Just a heads up for the solo guys out there who haven't worked with it yet.

Vinyl wrapping/signwriting & printing, speedy upskilling tips?

At our crash repair shop, my boss is wanting to bring all sticker work inhouse which i will be running.

I have very little experience except for applying caravan stickers, company logos and frametapes which is majoraty of what we do, all of the printing has been outsourced or freehanded by me on simple things.

ANY tips are appreciated as i currently have no experience with the designing software since nothing is set up.

How demanding is any of the software to design/copy the stickers (I have extensive enough knowledge to build a pc but dont want to go too overkill if unnecessary)

I have experience with blender and photoshop so im hopeful that some things will translate. Will photoshop be useful to use with sticker software?

Are 1080p monitors adequate to replicate the stickers or is this a non issue? I feel 1440p or 4k would be beneficial no?

We will be using a 3 in one laminator/printer/cutter and
our most important work will be replicating stickers on caravans that need them replaced after being painted.

Any and all advice is appreciated, even small things you have found that improve workflow. This is a big life opportunity for me and I need to upskill and perform well as fast as possible. :)

Varnish or Lamination

Hi mga kareddit,

My business is quite new to vehicle wraps. I've been wanting to purchase a laminating machine but I don't have the space for it nor the budget yet. Can I ask for help on suggestions or tips on what we can do to replace the lamination. Is there any type of spray varnish that would give the same effect as lamination? if not, would you know if there are any outsourcing companies who can laminate for us? TIA guys!

What is this mark from?

Recently wrapped hood for the first time and I’m on a driving on road trip (did before to test adhesion) and saw this mark, tried to wipe away and seems to be permanent. Any idea what would have caused this? Looks like some kind of smear; swear it wasn’t there before

Matte vs Clear PPF on Stealth Grey Juniper

Hi all, i just picked up a stealth grey Tesla Model Y LR AWD and i am going getting a full body PPF. I know its not a financial investment but i like to keep my cars looking as new as possible for as long as possible. I am tied between the stealth/matte PPF or just the clear PPF. Is there any difference in maintaining them? Does one last better than the other, show less scratches or damage etc. Basically im asking the pros and cons of each from any owners that have them. Thanks
