I'm looking for a free video editing software for my YouTube channel. I'd like for it to be simple to use like CapCut (which is what I've been using until now) but I wouldn't mind having to learn a little. I use a crappy Dell laptop with no storage (i use an external storage thing for damn near everything). Main priorities are, being free, not resource heavy, and no useless, AI bloatware
Does anyone facing this error in capcut?
So a few nights ago I watched *The Player* - Robert Altman, 1992, and at the beginning there's a scene where a character criticizes modern movies for being too much like MTV, too many cuts, and praises the opening tracking shot (what even is that?) of *Touch of Evil* (a movie I really didn't like), and the implication seems to be that the opening of that movie, which I don't remember very well, has very few cuts in it, and that this is somehow... virtuous?
Anyway, tonight I watched *Camera Person* - Kirsten Johnson, 2016, which is a kind of meta documentary made from the scraps of unused footage from other projects, and I find myself wondering what the big deal is. I've only started getting into movies in the last two years or so, (my favorite so far is *Fanny and Alexander*) so I'm learning more about what makes good film making all the time, and I wonder if someone could talk about this a little.
Are cuts considered a kind of failure state? A flaw? Why? Why is it that some movies which feature a large number of cuts and are very disjointed, like *Camera Person*, work anyway?
Does anyone have any homework for me to learn more about film editing as a viewer?
recently began posting my beginner video editor jerney in reddit like i created a gaming video by slicing footages from a 3 hours clip and I tried my best to give the video all I could i have done what I could and posted it in reddit so I could know if I something that I could improve and for content creator client to reach out to me
Instead of that I get a shit load of criticism for for editing is trash and don't mind him like commenting so even if a creator comes up to me for a work when then see my comments they'll be like il move on to another the coments became so destructive i felt like not editing for rest of my life but I luv editing man I grew up watching finzar and many more just I couldn't leave when I reply to the bad comments like "if you have any improvements to say you can say if you are here only of criticism you can leave they'll keep abusing me and say how trash my editing is Im still a growing editor in the industry i don't know how to react man i could have dealt with it if it's a single person man more than one are supporting the person who is commenting shit about me and my time I just don't know
man
Here are some videos I've made for my own channel. It's honestly a bit difficult for me to be objective about it so I thought that maybe I could ask here. How much do you think these videos are worth? For example for the first video would $200 be reasonable?
short vid (5mins):

long vid (18mins):
https://youtu.be/65nzq_WTDRI?si=W4q7YSwtDxnMVHnA
some context: both videos are about the games I've made. With the first I had around 10 hours of footage (it took me 3 days to edit) and the second - 40 hours (it's hard to say, but it was around 3 weeks of work). I guess that it was also slightly easier for me since I already knew the footage.

This is my first long form video and I want to do more, I've seen many good and experienced editors here I'd like to know how I can do better. Please give suggestions or any tips. I would also be open to hire (Payment is limited by region).
I need a edit app for my low end i3 2nd gen laptop anybody know anything?

Hello,
My team and I are in the middle of a marketing campaign so we need more content produced. I’m the one in charge of most of our marketing materials but I’m traveling a lot, and I don’t own a laptop. Most of my job I can do on my iPad while I’m on the move but not editing because I’ve tried so many apps and none of them were good enough for our needs.
On my pc i’m editing in DaVinci Resolve so I’m looking for something similar. I know that I’ll probably have to pay to get a good app but I’m looking for something not in a subscription model (I personally hate it).
Thanks for any suggestions!
I just had a small debate on Reddit about this: is it mandatory to have a YouTube channel and create content in order to work as a video editor? Especially for big channels?
In my opinion, no. I believe there are many great editors who never had highly successful YouTube channels. While it can be an advantage, it ends up being double the work to both produce and edit, so in the end, it’s not worth it to me.
However, to them, it’s basically mandatory, and you wouldn't be able to have a successful career as an editor without it.
What are your thoughts on this?
Hi, I'm a beginner YouTube shorts creator, looking for beginner editors who can make shorts for me.
Follow the link for full description.
Never really edited anything before, but I wanted to try making a Valorant edit. Thought I'd share it here. Hope you all enjoy it!
It’s pretty simple. I am a small YouTube channel that is looking to have an intro to my videos. I will happily pay for what I will choose as the intro to my videos theirs no questions asked to that. I believe there is a cost for other people’s creativity and that is only fair. Just some simple rules.
- ABSOLUTELY NO AI NO MATTER WHAT
- no copyright music
- will pay bonus if you can also create an outro
If you are interested please dm me and I’ll work something out
I like to edit, and use capcut on my phone, downloaded it on my chromeOS laptop, but it closes before loading and says it doesn't support the chromeOS. Any free alternatives for ChromeOS?

Trying to start YouTube channel and need help I’m using cap cut but I’m struggling any tips ?
Firstly, I solemnly swear, this is not spam. I have this form, for my final year research, and I need like 100 submissions minimum. I have 58 so far. The research topic, in short is whether/how the things you watched growing up has had an influence on your creative practice today or contributed to where you are as a creative today. This research is targeted towards VISUAL Creatives, so animators fall right in my demographic.
If as many people can fill this today it would mean the world to me. I just need 42 responses more. Its a 10 minute survey. Everyone who fills it would be a lifesaver.
