As a 44 year old dad of two who owns both New Balance 574s and 237s I take absolute exception to this comment. How dare we be called ‘boomer stepdads’. We are middle aged men who enjoy comfort.
Elis’ shorts are too short, though. If I’m being picky.
I have been working through all the episodes to ensure I have retro oner status. I am now on the isolation tapes. What a great time capsule of the Covid times. They should be played in school history lessons in 2059.
Apologies if this isn’t appropriate to post or in the wrong place; with the incredibly sad news about Jason Arday, I was wondering what people think will happen with his episode of How Do You Cope?
I remember listening to it at the time and, given the nature of the podcast and how open and personal those conversations with John are, it feels like it will inevitably be heard very differently now.
Do you think they’ll leave the episode available as it is, remove it, or perhaps add some sort of introduction or note to it?
I’m not suggesting there’s necessarily a right answer. In some ways removing it might feel like erasing a conversation Jason willingly took part in, while leaving it completely untouched might feel strange given everything that has happened since.
Such an interesting man. Hearing him talk about his PTSD, the EMDR therapy so accurately (been there, done that) is great. I never saw that side of him.
I realise John is good at really listening and letting the guest's thoughts unfold.
Long time listener of the lad’s splendid work, but there is something I neeeed to know. An itch I must scratch.
When Elis is chatting to his (mostly) Welsh guests and friends in particular, at the end of the call, does Elis say: ta-da, ta-ra or ta-la. Is there a local/regional variation? Or is it vibe all three for the win?
That’s twice in the last two eps that Elis has said he’s funnier and a better speaker in Welsh. I knew Welsh was his first language, but he sounds totally native in English so it never occurred to me there would be a gap.
After hearing that he thinks he’s better in Welsh I’m a bit gutted that I can’t understand what he sees as his best work :(

Favorite - Cymru Connections, John wins again, when they are just bantering with no structure
I love the Friday eps, but I really love the Tuesday eps. But I get sad when I'm fully caught up on the podcast, and being caught up on a Friday episode hurts more than being caught up on a Tuesday, haha. So I always save the Friday eps and listen to both them and the Tuesday back to back on Tuesdays. And then I'm sad until Friday, haha.
I'm tempted but money is scarce, I need convincing :-)

Hi friends - when John was reading his Alien Novel (FOR GODS SAKE MAN JUST READ YOUR ALIEN NOVEL), Dave played some music as a bed that I must have!
I need to listen to it when I read sci-fi, I need to listen to it when I work, I need to listen to it till my wife asks if I’m having a breakdown.
Any ideas?
