Questions to those who venture.

I, a cmdr who stuck firmly to the bubble, recently had a journey out to colonia. My journey out in the black was rather brief, but felt all too long. (About a week, unengineered lynx highliner, no carrier support).

It was so quiet out there, isolated, and lonely.

But now that I'm back in the bubble, part of me longs for that quiet. Part of me wants to abandon the bubble, and venture back out into the black, and it is loud.

Is this normal? And, if so, where do I start?

A mountain in my new colonized system has a face :)

I shudder to think what the odds of this are hehe :) I'm calling it Old viking mountain. about 15 km high above everything else in the area.

What was the highest exploration value of a System you discovered?

I'm really new to the game and exploration. Most time I found systems with exploration value between 10.000- 300.000 Credits and not very often between 3 to 6 Mio.
Now I found a System with a value of almost 26M
so
What was the highest you ever found?
And what was the highest ever found by an explorer?

Optimisation? What's That?

Hello, Friends!

We all know that some ships are designed for exploration - the DBX, Asp Explorer, Mandalay, and Caspian - while others may not be specifically designed for exploration, but are excellent options regardless - the Anaconda, Python, and Cobra V.

But what about ships that are not explorers and which probably have no business being out in the Black?

Personally, I've enjoyed flying the Type-11 Prospector. I've always loved the industrial aesthetic, and found that it can reach some respectable jump ranges with a bit of engineering. The footprint isn't much larger than a Krait Phantom, either., and there's something appealing about the idea of being thousands of lightyears away from civilisation in a flying tractor.

So now I am curious about your thoughts... what is the "least optimal" ship you've ever taken on a long voyage (or want to but haven't)? Why did you pick it? Was it for aesthetics, roleplay, or some other reason?

DW3 Scatterjump - the final one!

Our final expedition massjump from SagA* where each ship was assigned a unique jumpsystem to symbolize the official end of Distant Worlds 3.

It's been a blast! o7

Easiest data reporting tool to set up/help for someone who does NOT understand these tools very well?

I rarely use inara or any 3rd party tools aside from SRV Survey's overlays for exobio help, but I want to start reporting my flight data and market data of stations I stop at.

What's the best tool for that? Do I need to enter the market so the game sees all the data? How's it work?

I had the EDSM windows app reporting my flight logs but it broke for me back in February and I have no idea why or how to fix it, so if at all possible I need a very ELI5 solution. I also don't know if that reported market data or not but I'd like to.

I'd ask in the QnA on the main sub but I was banned from it for asking for clarification on what should go in that QnA since they removed everything I ever posted, and they permamuted me and won't hear any appeals, so... here is my only option.

The Lapis Egg

So on my last day of exploring in Distant Worlds before I went back to the bubble I found this incredible planet. It is 4 times as massive as Jupiter, and has a 4 hour day.

The standing stones of Trapezium Sector EG-X d1-17 (VR ultra gtx 5070)

One of the aspects within ground exploration in Elite that sets this game apart from any other, at least for me, is how it can sometimes just absolutely nail a truly alien atmosphere. Especially in VR as everything just looks to scale and you really get the sense of being on a different world. As the start of a colonization effort I decided to scan all the life forms in my new system. One of the 9 planets is a stunning Ammonia atmosphere world, with very high mountains and giant valleys. I could literally walk around on this planet for an hour, not doing anything, just taking in the views.

I ran into this very mysterious looking row of double standing stones. 10 of them, in a line, almost like a series of gates. With ammonia worlds being the likely birth places of the Goids, It almost made me wonder. Some type of ancient ruin from a time when Goids were perhaps still more human like..? Or just a randomly generated, very interesting looking series of stones...

Who knows ;)

Today, my journey out of the Inner Orion Spur has begun.

My Caspian Explorer is ready, and equipped with a first-class cabin, I’m setting off with my crew on my first expedition out of the Inner Orion Spur into the unknown.

The journey is set to take me from Ohm City via Norma Expans, the Trojan Belt, and Newton’s Vault to Colonia, and from there, after meeting the Colonia engineers, back to Ohm City via the Neutron Highway. By the end, the journey will have covered a total distance of approximately 120,000 light-years.

The first jump is done

Found this large ringed Ammonia World!

I was just out exploring when I discovered this ringed Ammonia world.

I thought it was cool to find a ringed one, this is my first IIRC.

Then I proceeded to scan it, and I was startled to see 15 Probes for efficiency, and it turns out this Ammonia World is 200 Earth masses and 24,000 km in radius.

I've never found a terrestrial planet this large!
Sorry for the generic pictures, photography just isn't my forte!

Marco Qwent Engineer glitch or not?

So I found myself having Sirius Corporation as allies already but it seems that the platform ain't recognizing it
I am also friendly with Sirius Corporation for more than 2 months already
I did leave the game for months and came back, became an ally and that hasn't changed anything yet!

What should I do?

Stunning setting for my 1st Guardian Ruins!

Visited my first Guardians Ruins site at the Skaudai Nebula near the Colonia Highway earlier this month.

Don't know about the other sites but this one had a helluva view.

How far out do you have to go to start discovering unexplored systems?

I'm bored, duh, and I'm basically brand new to exploring, I haven't unlocked any substantial engineering yet but I jumped the gun and got an asp explorer with around 30ish LY of jump range which yeah is fairly little considering I did originally want to get to beagle point, but I wanna leave that till later.

TLDR, I feel like there's some fun in seeing something no one else has seen before (how selfish, I know), so I want to try to find new stuff, hopefully find some cool stuff along the way too. But I have no idea how far I really have to go out, and if it's something too high I'd want to do engineering first so, thoughts?

P.S, kind of alreasy overloaded but, are the exploration ships on PTN any good? or is there better stuff I should look for? Oh also, I don't have Oddysey yet, so no mandy
