I need ideas and inspiration for any ranged combat stunt

Hello guys!

Do you have any pieces of media I could use as some sort of inspiration for my Night Caste?
She mainly uses an Artifact Bow made from 5 different kinds of Jade, but i also recently aquired a bundle of throwing knives, a musket and a normal bow.

As for my character, she it a normal human but she spend most of her youth in a circus as a trick shooter and an acrobat. Infact she is a natural contortionist who is trained to perform all of her tricks in various positions and impossibly tight spaces

If you have any ideas or media recommendation I would be forever grateful to you!

Question

Long story short, my Dragon-Blooded character from the Blessed Isle, Talia Tepet, has a twin brother who, after making a deal with a Third Circle demon, became a recreation of Desus (not Desus doing the deal ).

When they were kids, they were very close. Talia never stopped searching for him after he left for the war against the Bull, and after a series of events, he has shown tiny glimpses of emotion toward her including hugging her and even shedding tears.

So, she’s going to see him again soon and actually have a real conversation with him. Do you think she could make him feel more, or cause even a small change in his heart?

I know he isn’t going to change sides or fight against the Bull, and she isn’t going to ask him to. I’m only wondering whether she could inspire even the smallest change of heart.

Am I Imagining This Spell/Charm??

I have a majority of the 2e books and some 1e and I swear to god I had seen a spell or charm before where the character could transport an entire city to the underworld.
Not change the area to a Shadowland — literally just yeet the whole place and make it appear in the Underworld. I thought I had read it in the Dreams of the 1st Age but looking for it again in all of my books — I can’t find it.
Now I’m wondering if I imagined it or if it was some random homebrew I found online.
Anybody else find this before??

Exalted Essence App: GM Screen (Beta)

GM Screen Beta is now live!

If you are a GM, you can now access the beta version of the GM Screen directly from your campaign page.

The GM Screen is meant to be a dedicated space for running scenes and encounters without jumping between different pages. Right now, you can use it to:

  • Run combat from a single dashboard
  • Track PCs and NPCs in the same combat tracker
  • Set and clear the active turn
  • Update combat values like Power, Defense, Parry, Evasion, Soak, Hardness, Resolve, and Guile
  • Manage motes, health, anima, status notes, and combat notes
  • Create and manage campaign NPCs
  • Add multiple copies of the same NPC into combat
  • Promote eligible humanoid NPCs into full character sheets
  • Save a current scene title and GM notes
  • End combat cleanly while keeping your saved NPC records intact

Access is GM-only for each campaign, and many tracker edits save automatically in the background.

This is still a beta release, so some things may change as I continue polishing the flow and fixing rough edges. Feedback is very welcome, especially from anyone actively running campaigns in the app.

Thank you so much to everyone who has been using the app, testing features, reporting issues, and suggesting improvements. This update exists because of your feedback :)

3e Starless Mistress, a weird local goddess, any feedback appreciated

Aloha!
heads up, Some adult themes certainly, but I don't think it rises to NSFW.
I whipped up this god during a down time as a sort of plot device I guess. Please have a look at her charms and let me know if they're too much or not enough. Here's a sheet if it matters.

How many players have you had in your Circle of Exalts?

How many players have you had in your games and what edition was it? What would you consider the best number for your favorite edition and have you ever had a group that was significantly over the normal group size?

Where can I learn more about 'Animal Avatars'?

I'm currently reading through Lunars Many-Faced Strangers, and the concept of 'Animal Avatars' came up, Spirits that are neither Gods nor Elementals that embody the various animal species that live in creation. What other books have these guys? And did they originate in older editions or are they something introduced in 3e?

Paradise in Shadowland - How to compromise with what two players want without totally throwing out setting rules?

So, my players are working on developing a place.

They found an ancient broken temple-manse to the Elemental Dragon of Fire in one of the caldera of a snowy volcano range, which had a geomantic explosion during the Shogunate and killed everyone in the surrounding town and farmland that supported it, and a shadowland bled up through the fractured geomancy and has kept the ghosts there all this time. They've been fixing up the place, repairing the geomancy and the temple to make the place livable again. It's chock-full of ash and the manse produced a Gem of Endless Summer, so the god-queen of the party wants to use the unique environment to grow a bunch of tropical crops that they can monopolize trade on in the North, and turn the place into a wealthy holy land of warmth and delicious fruit and all that jazz.

The thing is, the necromancer of the party also wants to preserve the shadowland (and he's both the necromancer and geomancer of the party, so the restoration is certainly his direct business, including attempted integrations), both as a piece of preserved history and for religious reasons that tie directly into the idea of making it into a paradise, tying a reward afterlife for good adherents of their shared faith to this holy land where people will be able to meet the righteous dead. And like, the main *thing* of shadowlands is affiliation with death in substance as well as spirit, tending towards food shortages and illness and gloom and all that stuff.

If I were a more headstrong GM or my players enjoyed butting heads more, I might just tell them to figure out the conflict of interests, but that's not how our group rolls, so I'd really like to find a compromise that doesn't sap the weight and themes from shadowlands as a setting concept while still letting them work towards what they want for the place.

The corebook talks about the colors of shadowlands sometimes becoming "flush and violent in their intensity" and foodstuffs becoming "strangely intoxicating," while Sworn to the Grave suggests "blessings and ritual magic can mitigate the worst of these changes," so I'm thinking about leaning into those angles. Give them some work with workings and stuff to make the place flourish, and let the remaining effects of the shadowland manifest through that sort of intoxicating, hideously vibrant affect. If it's being connected to an afterlife, and there's an integration being done between the fire demesne and shadowland, there could be something of a pyreflame theme, funereal aesthetics developing to go with the place being a meeting ground between living and dead...

I dunno, it's all pretty vague to me. I could use some concrete suggestions if you can think of anything. How should this affect crops, how should this affect the people living here, what sorts of things will make the shadowlandiness of it *pop* without leaning entirely into the sense of desolation and griminess?

Please critique this set of Charms for my Solar's Ephemerally Inducted Spirit

Aloha!

I'm back with another divine familiar for my Solar, 7-Swords Magistrate. The first link has a google doc with his charms, the second has a pdf sheet. Here's a gist:
My Dawn buddy and I went around hiring mortal Master Swordsmen from across the world to "take care of someone." Then the Dawn Caste beat them up and took their sword.

Once we had 7 swords from 7 swordmasters representing 7 directions (Elemental 5, Heaven and Hell), I put them in a desert shrine to the sun to bake off some of their karma, but not all.
then I used the old Ephemeral Induction Technique to manifest a "god of swordsmanship" to police the quarter of Chiaroscuro we're taking over.

His charms are mostly focused on his swords. He's got some boilerplate ox-body, hurry home, materialize and so forth, but he has Evocations for his "Soul Swords" that do weird thematic stuff and some fairly stock 7-Swords charms like a dice adder, (cap 7), a multiattack, a parry booster, and a counter attack.

Please let me know what you think.

Tell for my mountain goat lunar character

Hi. I’m going to play a Lunar character in the Exalted: Essence system. My Spirit Shape is a mountain goat, and I’m looking for ideas for a Tell. I’d like it to be elegant and stylish without being overly conspicuous in human form. The character is female.

Making a Casteless-Lunar Melee Character

I'm using Exalted Essence. While I've been reading through the rules and all almost everyday since I've bought the corebook, I'm still wrapping my head around how the system works. I might be missing some information, so please let me know.

I've been working on an idea for a Casteless Lunar with the Warrior archetype, specifically a "Swift Damage-Dealer" with a focus on melee. I figured Tiger-Style Martial Arts would fit best, both for mechanics and the fact that their spirit form is a big cat.

For Attributes, I've organized it the following way: Force 4, Fortitude 3, and Finesse 2. For Abilities, I'm emphasizing Athletics, Close Combat, Integrity, Physique, and Stealth. I have been thinking of putting a little more into Presence since you can use that to intimidate people, from what I understand.

I'm still figuring out Charms, but Many-Attacks Technique and Fists of Iron Technique seem to be good starting points. Sidenote, are there any that would assist in fighting in their spirit form?

Any input would be really helpful. Thank you in advance!

3e Str Increasing Exercise and Dice Caps

Aloha!
I am under the impression that the Strength increase from the eponymous Charm might count as dice added from charms and therefore apply to dice caps. Or am I wrong and it actually raises your Athletics Dice Caps. Given the scarcity of doubles charms in the Athletics tree (I think there's a double 9s near the capstone), bumping the dice cap doesn't seem unreasonable.

Any insight is appreciated.

Exalted 3e Dice Roller (BETA)

https://faallenoon.pythonanywhere.com/exaltedDice/

Massive thanks to u/Psimo- for the idea. This is a simple dice roller for Exalted 3e, with a few sliders that should help adapt to the quirks of many different charms.

You can roll from 1 to 100 dice (please let me know if that number could be too low) with a base threshold for success of 7, and a threshold for 2 successes of 10. Both can be lowered at will, so you can create a roll where every 5+ is a success and every 8+ is a double success, for example.

You can also toggle different numbers to be rerolled, until those numbers stop appearing. I configured it so that if a reroll number would be a success, it keeps the success.

I should note that I'm not too into Ex3 (I played it for a couple of years when it came out, so... It's been a while). Thus, if you think there are other functionalities required to reflect the effect of other charms, or if it currently isn't working as it should, please let me know :)

My two main concerns: 1. are there cases where your dice can 'explode'? For example, if you roll a 10 you roll another dice until 10s stop appearing? 2. Are there cases where you get non-consecutive two successes? For example, a charm that makes your 8s be double successes, as well as your 10s, but not your 9s.

Sorry for the long post, I hope this is of some use to you :D
