One question: why is Alma Wade's name, in her old or "elderly" form, called "hag"?
Damn this looks fun, watch with headphones
The women dancing in the forest in a circle that’s a HELL NO dog LOL
Does Snakefist remind anyone else of “the dude” from The Big Lebowski? I feel like someone has to have brought this up at some point lol
DISCLAIMED: PC only :( and a few caveats to boot, as it is an older standalone mod, not a game

It's odd I couldn't find any post or comment on this subreddit mention this mod. It has all the 'bells and whistles' of FEAR - creepy ambience, horror, pretty good FPS gameplay, 2004-esque graphics with the creepy Source engine visuals but cranked to 11. Even though it is a mod, it has proper voice acting (quality varies), plots, characters, pretty good writing, set pieces and, interestingly, diverse gameplay. I won't spoil much, but it's more than just corridor shooting.
For a good chunk of mod enthusiasts, it's one of the best standalone mods out there and we waited for its continuation for well over a decade. Unfortunately, writing this post is how I found out its creator had passed away a few months ago... What he produced was one of the most memorable mods out there and I hope you will have the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate his work.

Unfortunately, it's not easy to get it to run smoothly. Here are additional steps.

Why waste time with all of the above? Well, I don't think there is a game out there that gets as close to FEAR's vision as this standalone mod does. Perhaps there is no bullet time (bar for one great scene), no near-future tech-y timeline, it's a bit more supernatural, but the FEAR inspiration is unmistakable and very tangible almost everywhere. And the mod is highly atmospheric. FEAR vibes are immaculate. And the soundtrack is fantastic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKjGrG4viNo
RIP mxthe. You put together a great team that produced a terrific mod. Thank you and you will be SORELY missed. Waiting is indeed hard.
For me it had to be Jin Kwon death. Especially after she tells you she doesn't want to die alone , and that is exactly what happened.
It's because Warner Bros. is very picky. For example, I think the DBD game already has crossovers with Warner Bros. characters, but Warner isn't making the new FEAR game and it doesn't have any crossovers with DBD. One question is why Warner Bros. doesn't want to make a fourth game, but they don't even want to do a crossover. There are still many fans of the games on Reddit and social media Yes, it's not a small number of people, and she's doing well. She doesn't launch a collaboration; I don't even know if, out of nowhere, she'd become totally famous globally again. They allow crossovers.
Alma Wade is perhaps the greatest psychic in video games and is becoming one of the greatest psychics in pop culture, probably surpassed only by Jean Grey and Emma Frost and possibly superior to Xavier.
Its nature is not only that of a genetically mutant psychic being, but also that of a hereditary psychic/spiritual gift. that the Alma probably inherited it from someone and passed it on to their children (possibly to their third child, okay?)
creation of alma-verse THE Almaverso It is the subconscious of Alma, a mirrored dimension of Alma's traumas that, in the first game, only psychic characters could access, But in F.E.A.R. 3, the almaverse was merging with the real world, tearing the fabric of space-time.
To tear spacetime apart requires an amount of energy equivalent to the Planck scale, which corresponds to a concentrated energy of approximately Joules (or GeV). compressed into a particle or region smaller than the Planck Length (meters).
To get a theoretically estimated idea, there's also the notion that tearing the fabric of space-time requires several supernovas. With the Joules of Planck energy concentrated, alma That energy could create a black hole.
Creating and stabilizing a wormhole opens shortcuts in space-time. Connecting two distant points in the universe. Allowing instantaneous interstellar travel. Would require negative energy to keep it open.
Or create a black hole as well. In F.E.A.R. 3, Alma Wade was causing real blood storms in the world; During her traumatic gestation, she could bring down planes with just her screams. She could cause storms, break the planet's gravity, make it rain blood.
Telepathy: Unlike ordinary telepaths, soul telepathy is a type of telepathy that gives rise to biokinesis. Souls, even in childhood, can cause mental breakdowns. Hallucinations, hyper-realistic hallucinations, and her massive spiritual and physical telepathy. Neurologically, it could cause dementia. Breaking neurons means fragmenting someone's mind.
The person demonstrates that their telepathy is not only metaphysical, like that of many telepaths, but it is physical; it can rupture neurons and cause collapse, strokes, heart attacks, etc.
Empathy: Another power of alma Wade's soul is empathy, the ability to feel and be in tune with emotions, but specifically with negative emotions that amplify his abilities—anger, hatred, etc.
Com isso, ela pode manipular as emoções de alguém, induzindo um medo que a paralisaria, levando à insanidade e à loucura. Neurologicamente, o cérebro está conectado ao corpo, então isso causaria desastres biológicos
Increasing hormones like cortisol, decreasing hormones, increasing hormones, causing effects on sebum, or using placebos.
We see that only people with psychic powers can register some of the soul's abilities, but even then it was still extremely fatal.
People lacking mental strength or those in a weak mental state would be prime victims of alma Any character without psychic defense is easily obliterated by Soul.
The presence of alma near normal humans or people without psychic defenses is like having a Lovecraftian God near a human; the person immediately goes insane.

Spoilers ahead !
Why was Holidays death so damn cruel and over the top compared to everyone else in any of the games ? any particular lore reason ? or did one of the devs just hate his guts ?
Story is whack, atmosphere whack. Playing as Fettel is the greatest thing you can do in fear 3 alongside co-op that is genuinely fun and i wanna know if there's any other fps' with possession mechanics like fettel's gameplay cuz Fettel hardcarries fear 3.
Cuz everyone is on about timeslow but frankly i find Fettel more fun than bullet time the other 2 games were crafted around bullet time and utilize it better but the possession is just soooo much fun.
I honestly consider this expansion to be a proper ending to the F.E.A.R. story, and not its sequels despite Monolith claiming that this is non-canon.
But putting that aside, the game is honestly just very bleak, alongside its horror elements, the situation only gets worse as you near the extraction point
You start out with your companions who are alive and well, but as the game goes on, they all died in horrible undeserving ways, Holidays mutilation is already brutal enough, but Jin’s quote of dying alone in a hospital full of corpses, and fearing the Pointman is not coming, just makes it even more sad and bleak.
And now no one is gonna contact you at this point because they’re all dead. Any remaining friendlies that may still be alive are dead. There is only you, the Replicas and the monsters left. The situation just feels straight up hopeless now, along with the feeling of isolation that you are all that is left, trapped in an empty city full of hostile and monsters.
And in the end when you finally made it to the Extraction point, overcoming all odds and surviving against hell, it was taken away.
You still survived, but what are you left with? A burning city, with a vengeful spirit declaring war onto the entire world.
And you are powerless to do anything to stop it despite your skill and firepower.
It’s honestly a perfect ending to F.E.A.R., since in the end, the bad guys won, and you can’t do anything about it.
Am I the only one who liked F.E.A.R 2 the most over FEAR 3 and the original?(the hospital was really good and how it had all the oxygen tanks and environment and how you could push cover ... but I wish they would have used more abominations and increased their number to rush you with and that unused Doctor remnant variant and less of the endless ATC mooks).
