When will Filofax release new models of The Original?

I'd like to know if they usually release new ones around a certain date. I'd love to buy one, but the models currently available on the website aren't to my liking. A pastel pink one would be ideal.

What’s the name of this wire type from Filofax?

I’m looking for making my own notebook (I own a Filofax hole puncher for this exact same notebook) but I don’t own their notebooks, what’s the name of the wire? I know the standard wire 2x1 but this one has a bigger space between holes

Is it okay to bring your Filofax to the beach? Or is that a bad idea?

I'm afraid the sand will damage the mechanism of the rings. What do you think?

Finally found my dream Filofax: Pocket Pear Malden 💚

Since I discovered the rings system, my dream Filofax planners have been Kingfisher Blue and Pear Maldens. I’m so glad to have these in my line-up.

I’d still happily purchase a Personal Pear Malden any day, but I couldn’t resist this beauty when it popped up on eBay. This gorgeous Pocket Pear has been lived in, with a few small battle scars, but that’s what makes it even more special.

I plan on conditioning it soon but for now, it’s bringing me so much joy.

Also pictured: my other love, the Filofax Personal Kingfisher Blue Malden. 💙

Slowly (but surely) personalising my filofax

Mainly using paper clips because I need them to divide stuff but I don't like the ones on the market and because I am a metalsmith and they are fun to make.

The one with the Sean glass is for track days and the spider is for work related stuff 🐱

Dyed my Portland cover

I found a personal Portland online in what I believe was the burgundy color, it was in pretty worn condition with quite a bit of the color fading and scuffs in several areas. I was on the fence about the decision to dye it since it’s such a beautiful, vintage (I think?) cover but ultimately figured I’d get more use out of it this way. I used Angelus leather dye (not paint, this is an important difference) after stripping the finish and sealed with their matte finishing coat. I’m very happy with it overall!

Edited to add dyeing instructions:

https://angelusdirect.com/products/leather-preparer-and-deglazer?variant=323815071

https://angelusdirect.com/products/coffee-leather-dye?_pos=1&_sid=e6945cd24&_ss=r&variant=345075859

https://angelusdirect.com/products/matte-4-coat?_pos=3&_sid=0b6118b18&_ss=r&variant=39580229599298

This is the supplies I used, the 3 oz containers are more than enough for dyeing a Filofax. There’s really helpful videos on the Angelus YouTube channel if you’re new to this like I am. Basically, you wipe it down with a small amount of the leather deglazer first to remove the finish, let it dry— only takes a few minutes. Then you can go in with the dye, it’ll come with a wool ball applicator. I did two coats to make it really saturated and make sure the color under didn’t show through at all. I let it sit overnight to make sure it was dry enough for the top coat. This one was a bit tricky, it’s recommended to only do one coat and I’d recommend using a small paintbrush to get a really thin, even application. I used a paper towel and it left some areas a bit streaky. After that, let it dry and you’re done! I went in with acetone on a q tip the next day to clean the dye off the hardware. :)

Found at thrift, what’s missing?

Hi guys, I found this gal at the thrift store and I can’t tell if there are supposed to be binder rings or something else, is there any way to learn more about the model I have or if this is real? If you can’t tell, it’s my first one, thanks so much!!

Passport in Filofax pocket Malden

Short YT video showing the pocket Malden hosting a passport. A Redditor was asking, so I thought I’d post this for anyone curious.

Hello, I am wondering if I should get a new or a second hand Filofax

I’ve seen on the internet that the new ones aren’t that great :/ and some people’s new Filofax have broken after only a couple uses, i either want a Malden or a Finsbury. I like that when you buy a Filofax on it’s official site it’s already set up with the things it needs and the only downside I have on buying a vintage one is that I’ll have to buy the inserts myself, and the accessories. Which choice is better? I care about quality and want it to last for a long time.

Edit: Thank you all for the helpful feedback. It made me think more thoroughly about it 😊

Malden / Finsbury Pocket - does a passport fit?

Hi everyone!

I was thinking of adding a Pocket to my Malden family.

As I travel a lot private and for work it just came to my mind to use a Filofax as a travel wallet. So I can carry foreign money (and store it also when not in use...) in a zip pocket, have notes for the hotel address and flight times, collect tickets and little other things. Also important the invoices.

I have a Malden Personal, which is too large for what I have in mind. So the next size down would be a Pocket.

But I am not sure if the passport would fit into a pocket size. My heart goes with Malden, but Finsbury might also make sense.

My Passport has the size 8.8x12.5cm or 4.92x3.46 inch.

So same size as "Passport" in Midori (makes sense...) and a bit shorter than pocket Moleskine.

Does anyone have them and could test it? I want to avoid buying online and shipping back and the next store is an hour away.

Thanks a lot

How much does it weigh?

Here's something fun. Go ahead and weigh your planners. What do you carry around with you every day? I think I need to declutter mine.🙈

Does anyone have any details on this?

Does anyone know the range of what years this filofax might be from or know any info on the model/style? I believe it’s maybe a pocket dorset?

Deringing a Norfolk?

I really don’t like the size of the Norfolk rings, and the way it works as a ring planner BUT it does fit a B6 notebook (my favourite journaling notebook size).

So I’ve watched general de-ringing videos, I’d just like to know how much the backplate is glued to the leather before getting the drill out. Has anyone done this particular Filofax?
