Just learned about the fries

This is such a mistake by corporate. At almost $8 for a large fry we got a small paper envelope of fries and just a few in the bottom of the bag too. Terribly disappointing. The fries were delicious, but absolutely didn't get enough to justify a $8 price tag. Five Guys customers know what they used to get when they ordered a large fry and this is disrespectful by corporate to think we wouldn't notice and then have them say that the amount of product given hasn't changed. (This post is a complaint about the change in product size and not a complaint about pricing.)

free toppings or paid toppings

Since when do shift managers decide whether to charge you for toppings that should be free, I tried getting a bacon cheese burger, extra cheese, extra bacon, and the manager is arguing with me that if i want extra i need to pay for it, and even after bringing up the five guys FAQ she kept telling me "i cant see your phone", and "stop, move your phone away from the counter", but shes purposely moving back to not read the fiveguys FAQ on free bacon, and she started scolding the employee that gave me extra bacon and extra cheese free of charge, and I asked the employee "why is she forcing you guys to charge for toppings that are supposed to be free and he just told me "Im sorry man its a long story". Why are the employee being treated like this and whats up with the manager trying to force the extra charges, and whenever I asked another employee about the free toppings they would just go quiet and tell me to talk to the manager thats trying to overcharge me. can i do anything about this or do I just have to go when the manager is not there, because every employee always give me the extra bacon and cheese free of charge. I didnt mean for this to be a big thing but why is the manager purposely trying to argue with me over free toppings cause she wants to charge me, five guys is not cheap bro, I try my best to cut down the cost and save.

London - good or bad idea to work at FG for free food?

A burger + shake + fries is easily £25+ at FG. I’m thinking that instead of spending that every week, what if I just work there and do 1 or 2 shifts a week to get free foods and drinks?

Good or bad idea? I have 2 jobs already and work on average a combined 50-55hours per week. So the main issue is if FG will let me have a flexible schedule and allow maybe 10 hours a week of part time work.

Fry station driving me crazy

Curious what other stores are doing and if you’ve experienced the same thing. Recently we changed our policy on mobile orders and delivery to cook the fries BEFORE the customer/driver arrives. That way, the order is ready and people don’t have to wait anymore. If the fries sit on the heated shelf for more than 15 minutes you’re supposed to toss them and make new. Before this we would always get complaints and bad reviews about wait time for pickups and angry delivery drivers so part of me was glad for the change. But now we constantly get complaints about poor quality fries, ”undercooked”, cold or soggy fries. Unfortunately the reality is with hand cut potatos free of any chemicals or preservatives they’re only really good if served right away. They go bad so fast. As a shift leader who works fries almost every day this is driving me insane. It’s so frustrating when a customer shows up 20 minutes after the promised time for their order then complains about the fries not being the freshest. I think the point of carry out is to save time in the restaurant and avoid waiting but the trade off is your food might sit for a little bit and people don’t seem to understand that we’re not a fast food restauran. When I get those orders that sit for around 15 minutes (also it‘s not really possible to keep track of all the times if it’s busy) I’m in a tough spot, do I serve the 15 minute old fries and risk a complaint? Or do I make new fries. But then I get the other problem “What? my orders not ready? How? I ordered 30 minutes ago” I just don‘t have much sympathy for these people. If you simply showed up at least somewhat close to the time your order was promised to be ready the fries will be great. My GM is pissed and I just don’t know what to do.

Question for employees, how do you make the Cajun fries?

What’s the whole process from start to finish. I’m trying to imitate it. As much detail as possible would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏻

Assessment day

I got invited to a 2 hour five guys assessment day after my application and I’m not too sure what to expect. Does anyone have any tips?

I always appreciate this combo!

I got this amazing bacon cheeseburger burger with large fries and milkshake in Heathrow airport, London, and it tasted amazing!

I loved this milkshake mix-ins: biscoff, Reese's, Oreo cookies and vanilla!😝

How many drinks?

So we use Five Guys before cinema a couple of times a month, always getting unlimited soda. As we're there a while we get anything from 3 to 6 refills.

I know its sold as unlimited, but how many refills do YOU get? And how many are deemed acceptable before it's taking the mick?

Edit:emphasis

Has the expectation for how the fries are supposed to be served changed over time?

I just got the limpest, soggiest fries from my local 5 Guys and I voiced my disappointment since they were the worst I'd ever got from any 5 Guys. They said that's how they are supposed to be made and if you want crispy then you have to ask for it. Very polite and professional and dropped a new batch immediately but had me confused since we've gone to the chain since they were new to the area and it's one of my wife's favorite burgers.

People I talk to always complain about soggy fries and until the last couple times I just thought it was just them taking it home or ordering delivery where it steams in the bag. We got these and ate there so it was not that.

Can you wear nails?

Hi I will be starting my new job at five guys in two weeks, I enjoy wearing press on nails. I was wondering if I could still wear them at work? I’ve seen other women at fast food restaurants wear them. So I was wondering if I could as well. I have no problem if I can’t wear them. I would just like to if I can if possible!
