We lost our very good boy unexpectedly on Saturday evening to hemangiosarcoma. He was 10.

​While researching this devastating cancer, I came across the Flat-Coated Retriever. We always knew he was a mix, but we never knew his true heritage. Finding this community and seeing all of your gorgeous pups full of devotion, intelligence, and unconditional love has brought a small bit of comfort to this overwhelming grief. These guys are truly a blessing. Angus was, without a doubt, the best dog I ever had the pleasure of sharing life with.

Died far too soon aged 4 and a half

As I’ve posted here before, I lost my 4.5 month pup to renal dysplasia last year. Now they are thinking that it may be a genetic risk of the breed. Please consider submitting a DNA sample so they can properly research it (pic of my sweet girl for attention)

Was supposed to pick up a flat coated retriever from Patricia (https://www.jubileeflatcoatedretriever.com).
She pulled the rug 2 days before. Canceled. Said another family was better and offered her more money. We’re so disappointed. She had been sending pictures for weeks, we named our girl. We sent pictures of her bed and welcome gifts. Toys, treats, insurance, vet membership, puppy classes. Then without even an apology she called and said she won’t be letting us adopt, out of the blue. 2 days before. My toddler is devastated. Don’t trust this breeder.

Just arrived home with our boy Nico and he wanted to say hi to the community and other flat coats around the world 💙.
