Having a go at a floor desk.

Trying out floor sitting - managed to sit for half a day before I needed to stand again. I chopped this desk down from a “normal” desk. It’s also light enough to stack on another desk to make a standing desk. Loving the flexibility (see what I did there).

my current floor setup

i've been with my floor setup since 2021. i'm 19, and its worth it for knees, but don't sit on the floor directly especially a ceramic floor so it doesn't affect back pain. :D

More affordable models of meditation bench?

I see the ikuko meditation bench mentioned here often but it’s $$$. Especially if you are still trying to adapt to a floor desk Has anyone tried the Vasoda meditation bench on Amazon? It’s legit half the cost and basically the same measurements. I don’t think it has the same tilt to the seat tho?

Also, anyone tried the Squat Seat? It’s crazy expensive for what it is…And not sure how it’d be as a seat?

Building a floor desk

Hey I am new to the floor desk community and wanted to build my own. I wil be using a 120x60 cm table top plate and these 8x8 cm wood pieces which I will be using as legs. What do you think of this and do you have any tips for me?

Edited: Which desk height would you recommend?

Buyer's remorse on regular sit/stand desk - how to elegantly integrate a floor sitting option?

I have been interested in floor living on and off several times over the last few years, but have only recently taken the plunge. I've made great progress in adapting my living space, but my work space is another matter.

Per the title, my employer very generously paid for a sit/stand desk for me to use at my remote office, which I purchased at a time when floor sitting was far from my mind. Now that I've made the switch at home, I'm bummed to not have the option at work, too.

I don't really have the space to buy a second, floor desk appropriate height, at least not without making the space look quite cluttered. And having another desk under my desk (as I've seen some people do) feels like a bit of a hassle because of just how perfectly everything is set up my sit/stand desk. Not to mention, I think the floor desk would be very in the way whenever I wanted to sit, unless I switch exclusively to floor sitting and standing at the desk.

I also don't want to sell my existing sit/stand desk because I do like it a lot and it's quite very heavy - it would be a real hassle to take apart and get out of the space.

Am I just being too picky? How might you approach problem solving in my situation?

Long Term Floor Sitting Effects

Can anyone share their experience with floor sitting long term (as in multiple years)? I am new to floor sitting for the whole work day and while the research I've read and effects I've noticed personally are mostly positive, I am struggling with feeling sure that this won't cause problems in my knees and hips long term. I am 30 years old and have Scheuermann's Disease, and after one week of floor sitting regularly I already notice that my back pain is better than when I would sit in a chair for the whole work day. But my lower body isn't used to it and I have very tight hips and knees, so sometimes I feel tension when getting up or shifting positions. Is this a normal part of the body adapting? How long did it take for your body to get used to these positions?

Lowdesk Max Wobble

Looking at getting a standing desk and found the Lowdesk guys. I like how it goes low enough were i can sit on the floor as well. The one problem i have is I'm a tall guy (6'5). I know that the higher the standing desks are the more they wobble. i also know 4 leg standing desks can help mitigate this. This is why i am leaning towards getting the max.

Does anyone know how much the Lowdesk Max wobbles at max height? I tried looking up videos for this but i could not find any. Any information helps.

Thanks!

Need a comfy chair I can sit upright

First post here. I am so close to a decent floor setup but I dont have a chair that keeps me upright and comfy for long periods of time. my laptop and monitor face parallell to my bed and leaning on my bed doesnt give enough leg room. Any links to good floor chairs. I like ergonomic and memory foam stuff.

Temporary working desk

After a trip to Japan, I decided to have a floor desk. I'm moving soon, so I sold my normal desk to have this experience. It looks like it works for me! 😁

Adjustable Floor(ish?) Sitting Desk in EUROPE (finally!!!)

Hello! This is my first ever Reddit post so forgive me if it's not very good :3

I've been looking for an adjustable floor desk in Europe for ages and I've seen other people on Reddit failing too. I've finally found something that's literally *almost* perfect.

https://poptop.shop/en/product/poptop-kids-desk-2

It's a pneumatic (so no electricity needed, woohoo) adjustable desk made with children in mind. It's goes from 43 cm to 86 cm. It's still a bit too high for my personal needs, but it's already a step in the right direction.

For standing, I think it could work well with an adjustable monitor mount and an adjustable keyboard tray (or whatever that little table you put on a table to raise the height thing is called). It's still more work than with a desk meant for floor-to-stand adjustment, but I still think it's a great discovery.

The design is minimalistic and they sell some interesting accessories too.

It's not as crazy expensive as the American desks I've seen too.

I've emailed them asking if it's possible to increase the height range and they responded with no, but they'll take what I said into account. It might just be polite talk, but I want to hope they would increase the range if enough people asked for it.

What do you guys think?
