Joining the club

Just heard in DoggyDNA that we have “family” here! Titan was adopted in April from a shelter, picked up as a stray. Estimated one year old, was underweight, thin fur, itchy skin, ear and respiratory infections, he’s had a glow up over the past 6 weeks and gained 8 pounds, fur is coming in nicely, infections cleared.

He’s submissive and “melts” into you or goes belly up, about the height and now weight of our husky who desperately needs to shed, is obsessed with playing ball/fetch, chewing sticks, and hanging out in the baby pool. He snores like crazy, has a deep bark when he uses it (rare), is a contortionist when he relaxes or sleeps, and is a Velcro dog. Potty trained, not crate needed, non destructive, trustworthy alone or with our husky, and smart with puzzles, treat dispensers.

Shelter, vet, and random strangers all guessed at least some Golden Retriever. I expected some pit and joked he’d be a supermutt.

Supermutt breeds listed- staffordshire terroir, collie, chow, lab, and Australian shepherd.

Newly Adopted Fluffy Pit!

Hi! This is my sweet 5 month old Tetra! I just got her a month ago.

We just got our embark results back and we were SHOCKED! The rescue told us border collie/poodle/spaniel mix and that she would be about 25th a full grown.

Haha well- the results led us here to Fluffy Pitts! We love pitties and we were surprised to land here, but we are glad we are!

Scroll for results! Embark also says she’ll be 56 lbs! 😂

choose your player… Zelda!

This is our glorious 5 year old, 35 pound pittie, gsd, Pyrenees and chihuahua mix with her full length, natural Mohawk, mutton chops and beard. She is an absolute tank who needs to put down the scissors. The pyr shed is is unreal.

Edit: found baby photos and added them to comments. 😭 never did I once know how she would end up finally looking as an adult and now she is just our smart and bossy splotchy blonde sheep

A lil background… she is the younger non related sibling of our other foster fail back during the pandemic. Our first girl, Olive was only about a month old and needed more energy from doggy friends to learn to socialize, as the other 2 dogs we had were geriatric at the time. (16yo and 18yo). Both pups were found alone, weeks apart, and we took them in at about a month old each. They grew up together and it was great to see them learn the world.

Zelda is definitely a bit less social and more rigid when it comes to other dogs due to her guardian genetics, and has shown signs of possessiveness and resource guarding, which has caused some conflict recently. But she is much better off in her own independence with me, and both girls still live happy lives together.

She is sooo smart and her personality is definitely reflective of her German shepherd background, but she is also loyal and energetic and a lover like a pittie. She can be timid, but Ball is life. She definitely is unlike any other dog I’ve known and I’m so glad she is my girl to fill the spot of my late senior who passed away st 19 💕

DNA results are in!

I rescued my dog a few months ago and just got her results! She’s about 2yo and about 45lbs. I’m not sure what I expected but it wasn’t this 😂

Foster dog!!!

This is my awesome foster dog Otto! He is the coolest dude. He’s had 0 interest and I have no idea why. He’s so fun to foster and literally just wants snuggles, dog friends, and toys to play with. If anyone is looking for a new addition, please please please consider Otto. I love him and want nothing more than for him to find his forever home. More info on him here (or visit Recycled Best Friends Dog Rescue in Knoxville, TN to apply):

Summer

So, my girl is over 51% standard poodle. And she does have the poodle fluff to prove it.. but she also has a double coat. She sheds pretty bad. Her hair isn’t dense or thick like your typical standard poodle. It’s not even wiry… it’s actually more wispy?

That said, would it be recommended to have her hair cut? When we first adopted her, someone at some point prior to us had taken her to have a hair cut. It’s not even 80 degrees F out today, and she was panting like crazy during our walk.

Additionally, does anyone have any booty recommendations? Something that would work well for an almost 50lb dog and they stay on. With summer coming, there’s really no way to walk her with the ground getting hot (I’m in the US MIDWEST for reference). And she NEEDS at minimum a walk a day. I try to do two.. so by the end of the day she walks almost 3 miles with me between my lunch break and when I’m off work. She has so much energy, though 🫠

Pic for attention

I thought their dynamic looked familiar

My two fluffy pits. Although, I do think Aughra (the gray one) is actually mainly bulldog. Harlow was an Aussie mix for 9 years of her life and it turns out she’s mainly pittie and NO Aussie!!

P.s. Aughra is a rescue who is on a weight loss plan! Down 4 pounds since she’s been in my care 🕺
