Fallout 3 is Unplayable on Windows 11…

This is really just a rant post but actually fuck my life at this point…

I have done everything, LITERALLY EVERYTHING! And alas, nothing. I am too stupid to figure out how to use TOTW and I just want to enjoy the base game as I adore Fallout 3 and am actually moving to the D.C area this year hopefully.

I can’t unwind and play a goddamn video games all because Windsdick 11 is a god awful operating system that goes scorched earth on old hardware and is so user unfriendly it’s not even funny.

If you ask what I have done to make it work I have tried. Nexus mods fix, changing the graphics cards data in the game’s files. Everything.

Is there a way I can just pay someone to fix this for me? Im at my wits end…

Thank you for listening to the journaling of a mad man.

I am broken.

Edit: Im running a ASUS Laptop with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU

SECOND EDIT: HOLY SHIT I don’t know HOW I DID IT BUT IT WORKS!! Only problem is that I cannot load my save directly from the start menu

How did these dirty mfs wash their clothes?

Capital wasteland is nothing but a dirty ass river and some creeks. How are they washing their clothes out there?? Or did they wear the same rank wasteland settler outfit for months at a time?

Is there any way to play FO3 on pc?

*Yes I already checked the user guide and did not find anything useful.

I did several things to try to play the game without it crashing; I reset something within the game files, re-downloaded it, purchased the CDKEYS and GOG versions, tried to do something with how the graphics load, and reset my computer, yet absolutely nothing worked. I have a Lenovo Yoga computer and wanted to mod it as I finished it on Xbox, but have had absolutely no luck. Is there any way I can play this game on computer? Please let me know!!

So I've reach the ending and... that's it ? Really ?

So I'm playing the " Take it Back " mission, loving it, then we reach the purifier, gotta turn it on so I do it and... boom death and ending. Aaannd that's it ?? Ending already ? I mean I'm not complaining about the ending itself, I really like it. But I'm just level 16 with 25 hours of play time, I really didn't expect to finish the game that soon. It feels like I've barely done anything. And even for like " in-game character story " it doesn't feel like a lot has happened. The game didn't even made me explore the top right of the map. And no I did not just follow the main quest the entiere time. I did quite a bunch of optional point of interest and few side quest. Sooooo did I got like an early ending or should I just have done more by myself and it's just the story being pretty short ?

Going from FO3 to FNV

So I think I'm done playing FO3 for a little while after I finish this current playthrough. I just picked up a hard copy of FNV (Ultimate Edition Xbox 360) off eBay. I know FNV has its own Sub, but I was curious if any veteran FO3 players have any do's or don't tips for playing FNV, particularly what not to do in FNV because it worked in FO3. Or what to definitely do in FNV because it works in FO3. I guess what I'm asking is if it can be played with the same or similar playstyle as in FO3, or is there enough of a difference between the two games that new and different strategies should be adopted. Just from watching a couple of YT videos, I can tell that the weapons are very different.

Point Lookout's Questline Is Weird

I'm doing another TTW playthrough and just finished Point Lookout. I'm not sure why, but this go around it really dawned on me that you really have no reason at all to be doing anything there

>Go to the big manor

>A ghoul is mean to you

>Help him anyway

>Join a fruit cult

>Continue helping the ghoul or help a brain you talked to once

>Ghoul House blows up

>Kill the ghoul or the funny brain man

It feels like it's lacking a real hook or reason that you'd be doing any of it in the first place. I mean, none of the characters even like you, the reward isn't specified and you end up receiving very little for your efforts

The main questline feels like it could be condensed into a side quest that cuts the tribals out completely. The best part of the DLC, in my opinion, is the Dunwich side quest. I think the DLC would've been far more compelling if the main quest revolved around Obadiah Blackhall and his connection to the occult rather than a feud between a ghoul and a brain that ultimately has no far reaching effect, clear motive for the player, or world building. The entire tribal arc would've still worked and honestly been more interesting if they were followers of Obadiah

Just my unsolicited opinion after freshly finishing it again. Still think it's better than Operation Anchorage, on par with Zeta, but the weakest in terms of a plot hook that gives the player a clear motive behind what they're doing

Anybody felt sorry for Gob? I know I did. Guy was just looking for honest work.

When Colin's bar goes to him if anything happens to that snake.

I was genuinely happy for Gob.

From the moment I first looked at his face. Instantly knew Moriarty was a snake that couldn't be trusted.

I mean most other people in the Wasteland at least tries to hide their "deceitful nature".

But not this guy.

I'm stuck inside the scariest area and my last save is an hour

I've got myself stuck inside a crevice where I can't jump out because there's invisible walls blocking me and I can only jump at the bottom and I get onto this rebar and can't jump or move out - anyway to force myself out without going back half an hour to my previous save I'm quite new to this genre of constantly saving the game all advice appereciated. If there's really no option I'll force myself to load the previous

-Edit : I'm on console PS3 so I can't do any commands sorry for that

New locations in the remasters.

Something that I’ve been thinking about lately is how will Bethesda treat the actual world map for the remasters for FO3 and New Vegas. In real life, the DC suburbs have gone through massive suburbanization; even since 2008 when 3 was originally released. I know the Fallout universe diverges from our own around the 1940s but I think it would still be interesting to “expand the horizon” in terms of adding new locations like neighborhoods, and real life locations that didn’t make it to the final game for whatever reason. I’m essentially saying areas that weren’t cut for “lore reasons” and more so because of limitations would be a great addition. One area I personally think has a lot of room is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue… I mean the developers even said back then they wanted to make the White House but just ran out of time and justified it as “that would probably be one of the first places to go.” That’s not a crazy assertion but this remaster is a great chance to put in one of the most notable areas in real life DC with quests/ and lore building opportunities like crazy. I think this can all be done with out causing major lore issues and be simply viewed as just improvements upon an already great classic.

FO3 PS3 slim child Vault escape update

LATEST UPDATE: Ladies and gentlemen… we got him.

As of writing this I have escaped Vault 101 as a ten year old on the PS3. Mission complete.

The method involves knocking Stanley into the Vault door room, knocking him unconscious and then dragging his body against the Vault door. To the right works best, but I’ll post a video. You then enter VATS as he’s getting up, attack him with a bat , and end up on the other side of the door.

———-///

Quick update to this post. Back on tonight and made it past the switch area by hitting stanley, then progressively guiding him down to the switch location. Used VATS to glitch through the sealed-off wall. simple. Theoretically, you could perhaps knock him unconscious on the other side of the wall, as he does phase through himself, end up there with him through trial & error and repeat at the vault door, but I’m just searching for a easy way to glitch into the exit tunnel now. Shouldn’t be hard.

No matter how seemingly secure Arefu currently is. Its literally on top of a collapsing highway.

Don't you guys agree?

They're going to have to abandon it completely one day.

I Bombed the Citadel, and, Oh Boy!

>!I admit, I wasn't expecting that kind of reaction. It's not that it's unrealistic, it's that I thought we'd land back at the ruined Citadel and the BoS would say something stupid like, "Somebody destroyed the Citadel. What do we do now?" And then the DLC would end....LOL I like that they're my new enemy though and learned that they die pretty easily. I guess that explains why they die relatively quickly to the Raiders in the Library without my help.!<
