Starting In person training for QA tomorrow... is there anything I should know before going in that they didn't teach me in the video training?

(Should I be concerned that they had to include 'cleaning needles in the bathroom'? in the video training?

Also how much of the 'open door' is accurate and how much is more just 'pr' stuff?

Closing front end

Give me your routine. Check list. Tips and tricks. As we know training is non existent in food lion and I’m sick of being put on closing with bare minimum training.

Was it acceptable for Assistant SM to leave? (Further context below)

I bet those of you that have probably seen my previous posts here are taken aback by the state of my store, well it's happened again.

Today a older gentleman came to my store, clearly under the influence of something and hobbled around aimlessly near the peanut butter section. A female customer was trying to get my attention on him and I turned my attention to the gentleman, who then was suddenly undressing and had both his pants and undergarments down mid-thigh in public. The ASM was notified and the female customer even notified him as well, but this is where it gets crazy. The ASM then left for the day, leaving our female evening manager to escort the pervert out.

Alot of us that witnessed it think our ASM was wrong to just dip out and leave and have a woman deal with a drugged up perv.

Religious Drama

My manager has been talking about his church a lot lately. I don't mean just here and there, I mean like almost everyday. I feel like he's trying to recruit some of us. Really, it's getting to the point where some of us at my store feel like we're gonna be fired if we don't go to it. One associate reported it on behalf of the store, but, come to find out, one of our HR people attends the same church, as does our asset prevention guy. This is honestly starting to feel like a cult type of thing. Our to go person came from another store and she said her deli manager was also in this church when she heard our store manager talking about it.

TLDR: Our manager talks non-stop about his church, and we're starting to feel like our jobs are threatened if we speak up about it.

Interview

I have an interview at my local food lion this week. What should I wear? And what questions will they likely ask me? I believe it’s a front end position.

Applied on 5/24, job is still listed on career site. Talked to hiring manager already, been over a week, still nothing.

I applied for PT evening cashier on 5/24. Went by the store that same week on a Tues, was told the hiring manager was on vacation, an employee at customer service said she will be back Sunday, and to call that morning. Called Sunday, spoke with her on the phone, told her my name, when I applied and what for. She asked what days I am available to work, I told her. And she said when she gets the interviews together, she will call me. Fast forward a week later, I go by on a Sat, and she is on lunch, I give the employee my updated resume and she takes down my name, what I applied for, my phone number, and says she will give this informational to her.

What is taking so long?

Should I just wait until she calls me?

Or go by there in person or call and keep being persistent?

do we have any emergency assistance for employees?

after losing my sons father, things have been extremely hard. i’m down to one income with my one year old. i struggle getting around to food banks due to my schedule & now, lack of transportation.

i don’t qualify for food stamps. i just need help getting some food & basic necessities in the house. do we have any emergency assistance or employee fund or anything like that?

i’ve been with the company for nearly four years.

Quitting and 401k

Just out of curiosity or if anyone has any experience - I started at Food Lion in August 2024. Started my 401k in May 2025. I have about 4k in it right now. I’m going on maternity leave in a few weeks and am not sure on if I’m going to return to work afterwards. If not, what happens with that money?? Will it get paid out? Am I even fully vested at this point? Can I roll it over? If anyone knows about Food Lion’s policy please let me know. Thanks!

Could this mean I’m fired?

I was recently hired by foodlion as maintenance worker and started at PT. I told my food lion ASM I would have a study abroad trip and be gone for 10 days in few weeks before heading to my destination. He said thanks for letting me know itll be fine since he doesn’t make schudule. I’ve also check that I wasn’t on schudule the upcoming week so they already know that I have a trip coming. I call the store number since my lead never provided a number to call them directly for whatever reason, and my ASM didnt recognize who I was and told me I should’ve told the lead about it before hand, yet he said I could come in at Monday to talk more details of the situation. I don’t know if this means firing or he realize it was misunderstanding to allow me to go and was being too nice from start? If it’s firing then I’ll have no interest in wasting my time to go.

How do you call out?

I'll delete this once it's answered because it's probably a silly question, but I'm new (not planning on calling out at all or anything) and was never told, do you call the store? Are you supposed to do it on the ukg app (which I was also never shown)?

Just curious: what item can your customers never find?

Not due to lack of availability. And not counting the holidays. Otherwise, what is the number one item you get asked "what aisle is the ______ on?"

For me, it's always peanut butter or honey.

What level of store chain is DSD on?

I’m a Dsd Receiver for my store and was basically wondering if I’m on the same level of a department head/Manager? I have store keys and a password to alarm, But it was never explained to me what level it puts me on. Sorry if this sounds dumb lol.

Is there somewhere online I can look at this also?

CSM

CSM , when making the FE schedule does everyone use the “ coverage “ ( scheduling how many it calls for at that certain hour ) or do y’all just schedule the amount of hours you get ?

Interview Went Bad I Think…

Guys I’m literally so embarrassed 😭 I had an interview for my local FL today and when she was interviewing me she pulled out a math problem, which I admit was simple but I was soooo nervous and just blanked and couldn’t do it :( I just got nervous, like I should’ve been able to do it but I panicked. I told her that I could work any day/weekends/mornings everything else, and she said she’d let me know by Wednesday if I got it. What are they chances they say no I’m so scared

Has it been me or customers getting dumber.

Reason I say this is because of customer keep asking about big watermelons, and where they are. They are located in the front of the store, and they keep reporting me that I am telling them that I am basically telling them to leave the store....... My brain cells.

FL2go

I would like to say good luck to all of us out there in Food Dog land. The picky idiots ..I mean high valued customers are ordering more and more and expecting what ever they put into a virtual cart to be better than what the store actually has.We aren't miracle workers Food lion Management expects us to do everything including helping up at front to cashier or bag.or get carts but also run through the orders on a time limit now they want us to be looking in the back of the store for items that are not on the shelf or chasing down the midday grocery person. We don't get paid enough for this lol

Pouring one out for the fellow 2go shoppers.

Advice

So, I’m currently a part time office person (or Customer Service Leader) up front and I have been for a little less than 2 months. I like it, I wanted to do office for a while and finally got it but like, it didn’t solve my main problem. I really want more of a consistent schedule and would like to be full time. We are very short on FLTG people and so for most days, I’m literally doing FLTG and I close maybe like once a week. I’ve been getting over 34 hours consistently for months.

But I still want full time, I’d like the benefits of full time hours.

And so recently a position opened up at a store like 15 minutes away from me for FLTG Lead. And I’ve been considering applying for it.

My main problem right now is, like, is it weird that I feel bad having just became office and then just transferring to another store?

Maybe it’s not.

But I feel like I should do what’s best for me , no?

And for any FLTG Leads out there or CSMs, what’s the job like? At my store, my lead is just a glorified shopper. Is that the same everywhere?

Policy about turning back on tobacco items.

One of my cashiers turned their back on two cartons to grab two black and milds the customers requested. When the cashier turned around the customer snatched the cartons and walked out. Where in the CBTS or SPTA does it talk about not leaving items like that unattended?
