New Formex Essence 39 Changes Coming Next Week

Lifted straight from the Formex Facebook page since their PR team doesn’t post here:

The Essence 39 is about to receive the upgrades many of you have probably seen coming:
- a screw-down crown compatible with the Case Suspension System
- a Sellita SW200-2 Power+ movement with the extended 65-hour power reserve
- an updated stainless steel bracelet with 3 mm and 6 mm on-the-fly micro-adjustment

All three first came together in the Essence 39 Black Pearl and will now carry over into the signature Essence 39 collection.

Next week, we’ll introduce the first three dial choices with these upgrades. We’re not revealing them just yet, but none of the dials currently in-stock on our website will be among them!

That makes this a particularly good time to pick up one of the remaining references at the current price, before we make a slight adjustment to account for the upgraded movement cost.

Among the remaining choices are a few rare pieces we deliberately held back until now, including an Aventurine edition created with Scottish Watches and one of the very popular Space Ghost dials. These are the very last pieces in our stock.

Discover the remaining selection through the links below. If the website says sold out, it’s gone:

A different suggested variant for Formex Bespoke: Watch crystals with 'Cyclops' window

Up front, I'll say this: I have no idea how this suggestion will land, and am happy to receive attaboys and brickbats either way.

But hear me out: the most useless 'feature' of my otherwise well-loved Essence Space Ghost is the date window. I have to take my glasses off, and peer closely under the right lighting, to make out the number.

A 'cyclops' window would improve on that.

It's a different manufacturing cost consideration than adding gems to a bezel or dial-face, but arguably a simpler and cheaper one, amortized over time. (Engineered once, batch-manufactured 100 at a time...?) And a chargeable extra at "Bespoke" pricing, at least until the initial investment is paid off?

Formex Essence Black Pearl

I’ve been on the fence for years and finally pulled the trigger on the 39mm Black Pearl. Had it for 5 days and I’m smiling every time I look at my wrist. Freaking awesome! The pearl effect is subtle but very pleasing from different angles.

Formex Bespoke

Well, that kinda came outta nowhere -- it answers a question that I'm guessing not too many *current* Formex customers have actually asked of them.

But it also suggests an indirect response to the question of whether Formex will develop a dress watch, in the near-term. Apparent answer: not directly; instead, Formex will follow various mid-luxe Swiss target brands (Tudor, Longines, Tag Heuer, etc), and provide opportunities to overlay precious stones onto established designs.

And, true confession here, it's not as if there's no such market:

That was a recent gift to my wife for our wedding anniversary (shown on my wrist, just before I gave it to her).

Which Reef as my One Watch

Hey Guys, 40th birthday coming up and I've decided a Formex Reef 39.5 is the watch to celebrate with. My intention is to pretty much only wear that after turning 40. The question is which one?!

I'm immediately drawn to the blue, but I love blue watches, and I'm trying to have this as the GADA watch, where blue doesn't really go with everything, if I'm wearing black or green clothing that day for example.

So I'm looking at the grey dial, which doesn't seem as gorgeous as the blue, but, it does suit every strap and bezel combination, and it still has all the other features I love about the Reef.

Then I've noticed the Radiant Bronze is now on pre-order, it looks amazing on the black strap and bezel, but I think it looks cool on the blue nylon with blue bezel. It's a really unique and striking watch, but can you get away with a gold coloured dial every day for all occasions?

Sorry for the waffle, any input or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

First Formex! (Strap / Bracelet question)

My Formex Forged Carbon Reef 39.5mm came in today. Absolutely in love.

The authorized dealer I purchased this from only had it available on the rubber strap and not the bracelet. Unfortunately, the bracelet is sold out online at the moment.

Curious what are everybody’s thoughts on the bracelet who owns one, and if anyone else has tried their other straps?

2 mins and 40 seconds gained each day over 7 days.

This is wild. I recently matched my watch to my iPhone.

8/2 - Iphone 12:24pm, watch set to match.

8/9 - IPhone 3:57pm
Watch: 4:14pm

17min / 7 days - 2.42 mins a day gain

Reef GMT purchased 3/27/2026.

Never dropped, no kind of shock (only ever walking) and has never been in water. It really doesn’t have much wear time due to my work schedule.

I know this is WAY off COSC, has anyone else had this much of an extreme? Very disappointing.

Edit: No clue how it could have gotten magnetized. Either way I’ll be reaching out to Formex this morning. Thanks for all the replies.

[Formex Reef] Question regarding sizing...

Hi all,
Been looking at this watch for quite some time. Got to try these on recently in SF at a cool watch shop called Clicky Bezel near Union Square, going to pick one up for sure in white. I am having trouble deciding between the 42mm (green) or 39.5mm (blue). What do y'all think? Curious to hear your thoughts on these in general as well. For reference my wrist is right around 6.75 - 7 inches.

New to me! Need Strap Suggestions

Just received this Leggera 41 today and absolutely love it. Still searching for a purple and a grey if anyone has leads.

That being said, sadly, the rubber strap is sold out on the website and everywhere I look. I didn't realize that they also don't offer a white nylon strap for it either.

So, does anyone have any good suggestions for a nylon strap that has curved lugs to fit nicely against the case?

Why is this link longer?

Is this normal? This is the new Formex 39 with the micro-adjust bracelet.
