Maybe new to me

Hi, I'm a car fan and had few Jag long time ago. XKR 2007 and XJ40 3.6l from the 90s.

I currently own an Aston Martin V8 Vantage from 2011 that I love but that, as a daily driver, is not the best. I do mainly long drives (200km +) and considering replacing my Vantage by an F-Type V8 R from 2018.

Before to decide, I would like to know what are your comments on this switch ? Are there any specific maintenance I need to plan in advance because of it's 75kkm mileage ?

Few comments from me fist :

- Why a V8 and not a V6s : I'm not a sport driver, i love to cruise and for me the sound is quite important. I love my Vantage for its raw sound, it's bestial and each time I give some rev, i've a big smile.

- Why to change : The Vantage doesn't have the ZF8 and in place, has an old Sportshift manual robotic gearbox with paddleshift. It's fun and works well but in traffic jam and cities, it's really not that good. In addition, maintenance is super expensive as soon as you have something to change. It's an old car tech, and spare parts are just super dupper expensive, same goes for the man hour price. In addition, as I drive all year around, I had some bad adventure last winter when the road was covered with snow and ice. It cost me few 1000€ to fix some stuff I broke after having slide on a round about.

- Why an F-Type : I'm looking for a 2 seats car, just for pleasure. But it's also my daily driver so I want a better suitable car for drive everyday. If I have something to do in cities, i want to be able to do it without hesitating because of the gearbox and the "precious" aspect of the Aston Martin

- The model I'm currently hesitating on is an 2018 F-Type R V8 550ch, AWD, with 75000km. It's a white model with black interior, panoramic sun roof, Méridian sound system.

Thanks a lot

2018 Ftype apple carplay issues

Good afternoon all. My name is Rian. I have a 2018 Jaguar F-type and it is my favorite car I have ever owned. In my opinion, its only drawback is the infotainment system, more specifically, the lack on apple carplay. Now, I did some research on the matter and most people on the forums have went with some sort of piggyback add-on unit that fits to either a Bosch or Harmon head unit. My car being an 18' with the updated screen graphics, I thought that it was a Harmon unit. So I ordered a Harmon Carplay receiver. Much to my surprise, when I pulled the rear console cover off of my F-type coupe to inspect, I found that head unit does not look like a Bosch nor Harmon. Upon further investigation there was a small "switchover "window that where some cars received a newer headunit but with the crappy, older/smaller screen. I understand that the 2019 cars got a larger screen with Apple Carplay capabilities.

So here's where things get dicey. From what I have researched, my car is eligible the OEM larger screen and it will work with the current electronics but it is not as "plug and play" as it sounds. Apparently, in order for the screen to be swapped, some trimming needs to happen to fit as well as a new bracket, bezel and upper aluminum trim piece that works with the larger 10.2 inch screen. Not to mention, once the screen is installed, then it has to be programmed by JLR to the newer graphics. I really would prefer NOT to go down the route of the newer screen as I do not want to cut, trim and program. Is there any other method that will work for the "NON BOSCH/ HARMON" (later INTOUCH pro) radio that I do not have to jump through those hoops. Hell, I wouldnt mind one of those android screen units if it would work with my current head unit. I would really appreciate the help yall. Im at my wits end here. Below is a picture of the radio and screen.

10 years of ownership and still not bored of looking at it.

My wife has had her F-Type for 10 years next month (from new), and every drive in it is still a bit special.
It’s been bloody freezing in the U.K. this spring so the spring deep clean has been later than usual this year.
Ian Callum’s masterpiece still looks absolutely marvellous to my eyes at least.

Stage 2 not worth it?

I recently installed a stage 2 tune by Viezu (lower pulley) on my 2015 Jaguar ftype v6s.

i ran 60-130 tests as identically as possible (same weather, tires, gas tank, temperature)

after stage 2 tune I only gained like .4 second faster.

stock: 60-130: 14.38

tune: 60-130: 13.97

is this normal? is something wrong with my tune or car? seeking advice on what to do.

if you have a stage 2 tune by vap or someone else, what are your 60-130 numbers?

Need opinions, had a ceramic heat film installed and saw this knick in the leather after the install. The car is mint otherwise. Is it worth bringing up to the installer? Will it get worse? What can they do to fix it?

Oil leak F Type V8, mistake of Shop?

Any mechanic specialists here or maybe someone had the same issue already?
I have an oil leak somewhere on the right side of my F Type V8 engine. The valve cover seal was replaced just like 300km ago, I hope the shop did it right. The marked spot on the picture shows where I saw oil dropping onto, so it must be above the silver rail (fuel rail?). As you can see, it spashes out so that it even gets onto the engine cover.
Picture follows.

Battery Management System?

Replaced the battery with an Interstate AGM H8 after a couple weird occurrences that could potentially be related to a low voltage. Flicker steering wheel backlights, intermittent non responsive paddle shifters, and a “manual shift disabled” message. New battery, all of those issues seem to have gone away but now everytime I turn the car off, or unlock the doors after it sits for a couple hours, I get the “low battery voltage” warning. Car fires right up, no issue, is the fix to have the car programmed to the new battery?
