[For Hire] Fiction, Fantasy, Game Content - Atmospheric Writer with a Background in Psychology ($0.10/word)

The song played low on the radio. The crackling sound a sweet companion to the blacktop ahead. The sun was a brilliant orange upon that blue horizon. Through a kaleidoscope window where the horizon stretched endless we drove on.

Hey, y'all. I am AshfallWrites!

I am a fiction and fantasy writer, specializing in the architecture of the surreal. My work focuses on giving characters meanings, on letting the plot breathe, letting the agenda build naturally as the story progresses. Unreliable narrators, existential dread, surreal loops of fiction, a love story that inhibits a world that feels like the town five miles down that dirt road at the end of the lane – I love creating worlds that people fall in love with. That people can curl up with, beside the hearth of a dying fire.

Portfolio & Past Work (along with ToS)here

THE OFFERS

  • Academia based Insights: As a researcher in life with a background in Psychology, I bring a clinical level of detail to mental states, trauma narratives, and characters that feel organic, real.
  • Atmospheric Prose: I prioritize mood and sensory world-building. I do not just write plots; but craft environments to linger in the subliminal.
  • Surrealist Edge with a Touch of Romance: Because let's be real, who does not yearn to immerse themselves in reality-bending concepts, where characters break time in order to save their chosen one, or even incur the pleasures of the flesh upon a moonlit edge of the Abyss.
  • Game Content (Quest & Lore): Wanna see your world expanded like Elden Ring, want players to be fully enthralled by a questline akin to the Baron's questline. Or maybe you're creating something truly unique and you want a writer who understands the importance great characters can have that translates your world into something grander (cought Silksong, Expedition 33 cough). Whatever the reason, however the need, I am there to help you!
  • World Bible: Want to see your world taking shape? I design intuitive and sprawling world bibles which would expand the rules of the universe you imagined! This includes aspects of the foundation of the story, such as: Core Mythos & Lore, the Sandbox (setting of the world), Factions and System Mechanics, and many more, all packaged into one highly accesible format.
  • Literary Pleasure Reading: Writing pieces of content that makes a reader blush pretty red on a train ride, or make them sigh in pleasure beside a fireside in a log cabin, I consider to be one of the most accomplished sentiments of mine as an author. Be it straight or LGBTQ+, I write for all.

PRICING

  • Short Stories (Fantasy/Fiction or Otherwise): $0.10/word (for a 1000 word story it would be $100).
  • Game Quest Design & Lore: Starting at $100.
  • Flash Fiction / Short Scenes: Starting at $20 (approx 400-500 words).
  • Deep-Dive World-Building Docs (1,500+ words): $150 / Inquire for custom project rates.
  • Custom: DM me if you have some custom requests or specific criteria you want in your stories.

(Note: Base rates include up to 1 round of major & 2 rounds of minor revisions).

Hit me up in my DMs or just comment in this post with what you're looking for!

Looking to hire: 2d side scrolling game art/assets

Hello!

I have created a 2d side scrolling psychological (not horror) rpg with some visual novel elements. The “waking world” aspect is cozy-esque. 2d painterly style is the best way to put it I guess. The dream worlds are more distorted (6 total dream worlds though the 6th is a distortion of the waking world).

Preferably I’d like to do a test run for one background or sprite or asset (paid, of course). If we mesh well, then I’d likely look to hire you to work in stages through each chapter of the game. I’d have to break it into chunks in order to budget appropriately.

I’m not sure what my actual overall budget is, but I think if I can get some responses with budgets etc I can lock that in better.

Happy to answer any questions and looking forward to working with one of you talented artists!

Looking for advice

Been working on this game for the past week and its starting to come together, but now I need an outside perspective on things.

Is there anything I could change/add to make my game more interesting? My plan for this game is a rage game that simulates a roguelike in a way. You get to the top as fast as you can with all your lives, if you lose them all, you lose. If you lose all your lives before you reach the top, you will still get a score based on how high you've gotten in that time.

This is my second ever project I've ever gotten this far in so please be nice ;-;

(PS. I'm also looking for a pixel artist. LMK if you are interested!)

[$1000+ Contract] Looking to hire 2D illustrator/pixel artist for vampire game. $40 Paid art Test

I’m the lead composer & indie game developer, and I’m looking to hire an illustrator or a 64x64 pixel artist, for a 2.5D vampire game that is to be used in marketing or prototype on itch.io which has placeholder assets.

I’m most interested in two art styles. The first one being detailed 64x64 art that is heavily inspired by Symphony of The Night. Or hand-drawn 2D art that captures the mood or fantasy of Animated Series Castlevania.

The budget is up to $1000+ for contract work on up to 5 characters/npcs, player design, one or two environments, but I’m looking for good art direction, professionalism, and communication.

No formal degree or prior industry experience required, your portfolio/professionalism is what matters

The first $40 paid art test assignment will be to design the right side of a character. (Later front and back). If drawn well, a contract will be provided for each asset needed in milestone payment.

Animation skills not needed, but if not able to animate must provide puppet/style or ready-to-rig assets to be used in 2D animation software like Spine 2D. The budget will be increased by $1000+ for good animation skills as well.

Fill the application form below. All DMs and other inquiries will be ignored except for questions regarding the project.

Milestone Outline: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1w8aGhROrl-NLU9qFPZAJ6szUjDwVRVn8/view?usp=sharing

Must sign in through google account for application. https://forms.gle/d4KiEfNSoymSNVHG9

I’m too close to my first game to tell if this trailer actually works

This is the new demo trailer for Slotbound, my first game that I’ve been working on for about 8 months.

It’s a roguelite defense game where you spin for units, absorb them to grow stronger, choose upgrades and cores, and try to survive enemy waves.

I’m trying to figure out if the trailer explains the game clearly enough without feeling too slow or overloaded.

I’d really appreciate honest feedback on the trailer

Thanks for reading!

[PAID] Looking for Steam Capsule art & Logo

Hi,

I am seeking an artist to work with to create Steam store page assets and a Logo.

Requirements:

  • Absolutely no AI
  • 4 Store Page assets to be made, alongside a Logo

Game:

The game is an 3D incremental golf sandbox game where you create insane physics-based contraptions to optimise the amount of golf balls scored. The game features bright, saturated clean visuals and the capsule art should follow this.

Style:

I am looking for clean digital illustration style. Be able to create a compelling capsule without including characters.

Budget: $300-550 Depending on experience and quality.

Bonus: I am from Australia (GMT+10 Timezone), if you are from a timezone that doesn't restrict our ability to communicate effectively, please tell me.

Please share your portfolios, thanks everyone.

Red Flags or Common Scams When Hiring an Artist for Your Game?

I’m completely new to making games and have basically zero art or UI design experience.

I’ve reached the point where I want to hire someone to help polish or redesign my main menu, create the gameplay HUD, and improve the overall UI of my game. I’ve never hired or paid an artist or designer before, so I honestly don’t know how the process usually works.

Any red flags or common scams I should look out for? If you got scammed, what was your story?

EDIT: For anyone interested, my game is a 2D arcade-style language-learning typing game!

[HIRING] Looking for Animator and Modeler for 3D Voxel Objects

Looking for a talented Voxel Artist / Animator to create clean, charming 3D voxel objects and character animations for an upcoming indie project.

What we need:

  • Stylish low-poly voxel models (characters, props, environment assets)
  • Smooth character animations (idle, walk, run, attack, emotes, etc.)
  • Consistent art style across the whole project
  • Ability to work iteratively with feedback

Compensation: Paid (rate based on experience & quality let’s discuss your rates)

If you're fast, reliable, and love voxels, send me:

  • Your portfolio (especially voxel/animation work)
  • 2–3 examples that show your style
  • Rough availability & rates

EDIT regarding the file formats:

- Models: MagicaVoxel .vox files. Characters are built as separate rigid parts (head, torso, arms, legs, etc.) one .vox per part

- Animation: rigid-part animation, no vertex skinning

- What I need per character: the .vox part files + a .glb with the animation clips (idle, walk, run, attack…), with part names matching bone names.

- What you never need to worry about: engine plugins, prefabs, materials, LODs, or FBX.

Looking for a Game Dev Partner

Hi! I`m a starting game artist and solo developer atm am want to produce games that are worthwhile and fun to play. I'm currently building and planning out a small co-op roguelike as a first project because I want to prioritize making a game over big long term dream projects. I`m not much of a programmer and I`m still learning in that part, the Art is good to go and I`m always exploring styles. I'm looking for a Partner/programmer who's interested in building multiple games together over the coming years, not just this one. I have zero funds to my name to pay but I hope to whoever is interested will work with me and create games that will soon eventually put money in the table. Thank you for your time reading through this ramble.
