I can’t believe this CPU architecture is still taking names 10 years later!

I can’t believe this CPU architecture is still taking names 10 years later!

I’m running a 5700X3D and it’s killing it, and I don’t have to refinance the house for a DDR5 RAM upgrade. Has there ever been a more successful line of processors? I know AMD is profiting big time on “old” hardware but seriously kudos to them for giving gamers such an exciting value option.

Has the Arc B580 broken the used GPU market?

I just upgraded my power supply on my budget, second hand parts build. Now with an 850w PSU I have the headroom for a newer GPU.

I decided to use the B580 as a benchmark for the used GPU market. Brand new at $360 Canadian it lands somewhere between the RTX 4060 and 4060ti on benchmarks and has 12GB of VRAM, which makes it considerably more future proof. I'm looking to play Forza Horizon 6 at 1440p which needs the 12GB of VRAM at higher visual settings.

I am shocked by the used market and how overpriced it seems. People are asking $350 for used 4060s and 3060s. Slightly better cards like a 5060 or a 3070ti people are asking for $400 and $475 respectively. That seems like a big price jump for less than 10 extra FPS.

Are people sleeping on the B580, or am I missing something that would make a used 4060 worth just as much second hand?

3D printed a little diaper to hold the PSU and unblock airflow to the lower RTX 5090. Case is a Fractal North XL. Is Diapercore the next PC Gaming Aesthetic?

Gaming PC: RGB accents or no RGB at all?

Going for a clean, dark gaming PC setup with a few premium details instead of a cluttered look.

I wanted it to feel minimal and coordinated, while still having some personality when the RGB is on. The keyboard follows the same idea.... subtle, clean, and meant to blend into the build, not dominate it. Those are full metal keycaps with shine-through RGB.

Still deciding whether RGB accents make the build better or if a cleaner no-RGB look is stronger. What do you think? https://forms.gle/8c9Y9udbsrp1g2qd6

If you think RGB works here, would you go full set or just accent keys like WASD and arrows?

Is it stupid to keep this high end setup with these prices atm ?

Disclaimer: This is not the finished set up. New fans otw and cable management to be done.

I had this setup:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: RTX 2060 Super
Mainboard: Asus B450F
RAM: DDR4 2x 8GB
SSD: Samsung 970 Evo

And „upgraded“ basically built a completely new one with following specs:
CPU: AMD ryzen 7 9800x3d
GPU: rtx 5080 msi gaming oc
Mainboard: asus b850a
RAM: corsair vengeance rgb ddr5 32gb
SSD: 2tb t710 crucial
4k monitor from Samsung
All that cost me around 4k€ minus what I would get from my old pc and monitors let it be 400€ and birthday giftcards of 400€ which I used for the specs.

I do think it is amazing playing in 4k and all but I wonder is it too expensive for what it is especially with the ram and ssd prices or is it a decent investment into the future

Inherited gaming pc

i7 12700KF

32GB RAM

1TB storage

RTX 3070 Ti (8GB)

My best friend passed away a few months ago and his wife wanted me to take his gaming PC.

I love the idea of it but I'm having a hard time moving on and making it my own. I've always been a Mac/console person so help me out guys. Make my buddy happy I have his PC, give me some game recs or fun things to do with a powerful rig. Install Linux? Anything.

I already have a steam account but very limited games, mostly Bethesda but I'm open to all kinds of games. My buddy played the hell out of Satisfactory (2k hours on steam!) so that may be where I start.

Finally completed my dream setup (for now)

This has been a work in progress over the last several years though I did recently decide to upgrade a few components. As a kid I always dreamed of having a setup like this and I finally feel like there is nothing else I need to add 😅

Part list here
