Juego triples AAA, dead space remake, last of US, days gone bla bla podría nombrar mil juegos, single player AAA.

Rtx 3080, Ryzen 7 5800x for 34” monitor

Hello everyone I was wondering if my rtx 3080 10gb, Ryzen 7 5800x and 32gb ram will be able to perform good on a 3440x1440p 34” monitor. And how much fps I will lose. And about how much fps I will have in games like Battlefield 6, GTA V and god of war. I’m not really tryna play on the highest setting but maybe on medium settings. Thanks beforehand for the responses!

Upgrading from 1080p to 1440p/4K - Need monitor advice

Hey everyone,

I'm finally upgrading my monitor setup and could use some advice.

My current setup is:

  • Main monitor: AOC 27G1G4 (27", 1080p, 144Hz, 1500R curved)
  • Second monitor: Dell 24", 1920x1200, 60Hz

I recently upgraded my GPU to an RTX 5070 Ti, so 1440p gaming shouldn't be an issue, and I could probably even do some 4K gaming at around 60 FPS depending on the game.

My budget is around €170 per monitor (so roughly €340 total max).

Right now I'm debating between two options:

Option 1

  • 1x 27" 1440p high refresh rate monitor (for gaming)
  • 1x 27" 4K 60Hz monitor (for productivity, coding, watching movies/videos, etc.)

Option 2

  • 2x 27" 1440p high refresh rate monitors

Another thing I'm unsure about is curved vs. flat.

My current AOC is a 1500R curved monitor, and I've gotten used to it. I really like the immersion, but it seems like most curved 1440p monitors from well-known brands are outside my budget.

The curved monitors I can afford are mostly brands like KTC, Z-Edge, Amzfast, etc., and they're almost all VA panels.

On the other hand, for the same money I can get flat IPS monitors from brands like LG, MSI, Gigabyte, ASUS, Acer, or Dell.

So my questions are:

  • Is it worth getting a cheap curved VA monitor, or should I just go with a flat IPS from a more reputable brand?
  • Is switching from a curved monitor to a flat one difficult to get used to?
  • Would you rather have 2x 1440p high refresh monitors, or 1x 1440p high refresh + 1x 4K 60Hz for a mixed gaming/productivity setup?
  • Are there any specific monitors around €170 that you'd recommend?

I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Is 300Hz on Fast IPS a marketing gimmick?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently upgrading my setup, just swapped my old GTX 1660 Ti for a brand new RX 9070 XT, so my old 144Hz TN monitor definitely needs to go

While searching around, a 24.5" 1440p 300Hz Fast IPS monitor popped up, and it caught my eye because the price-to-performance ratio seemed absolutely insane on paper. But before buying it, I watched a technical review that kinda ruined it for me

The reviewer tested it and said that pushing a Fast IPS panel to 300Hz causes a lot of issues. On the normal settings, the pixels are too slow to actually hit 300Hz properly. But if you max out the settings to force it to match the speed, you get massive "inverse ghosting" and ugly trails on the screen. The reviewer literally said it becomes unplayable and advised just downclocking the monitor to 240Hz to get a clean image

This feels like a total marketing scam. It seems like these 300Hz monitors are actually just native 240Hz panels that are aggressively overclocked from the factory just to put a bigger number on the box, even though the pixels can't physically keep up. Why pay more for a "300Hz" sticker if it's just a problematic overclock?

At first, I really wanted a 27" monitor, but a 27" at 300Hz was way too expensive for me. But after seeing this review, I looked into native 240Hz monitors instead. It turns out that if I forget about the 300Hz hype, I can easily afford a 27" 1440p 240Hz Native panel for basically the same price

Just to be clear, I'm really not a tech guy and I don't know much about computers at all. I just learned these specs while researching for my upgrade, so maybe I'm getting fooled by the numbers here

What do you guys think about these 300Hz IPS panels? Are they really just 240Hz overclocks? Is it better to just skip the marketing hype and buy a stable, native 240Hz monitor instead?

5070ti for 1440p vs 4k

So i wanted to run a build that can handle any game at 1440p 60 fps reliably (including ray tracing). 5070ti came up as a good option that can last me a long time, but i also found out that it can also reliably run 4k dlss 60 fps with ray tracing (dont care about native 4k)…

so it made me reconsider my build as a 1440p one or 4k one, especially for the monitor… ik the monitor will be OLED but i dont know what resolution it should be.

Yes i have no problem downgrading resolution to 1440p to pump up fps for multiplayer, and im leaning towards a 32” monitor. Also i prefer to play with a controller.

Im open to a complete overhaul if i hear better suggestions.

Here is the build for full context:

Case
Thermaltake Tower 300

CPU
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

CPU Cooler
Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB

GPU
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB

Motherboard
Gigabyte B850M Eagle WiFi (Micro-ATX)

RAM
32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 RGB
(TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB or G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB)

Storage
2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD

Power Supply
850W 80+ Gold ATX 3.1
(Montech Century II 850W or Corsair RM850x)

Case Fans
3× 140mm ARGB PWM fans

Rust 4k 240fps Build

Built my dream PC during this hellish wasteland of a market. I'll detail the the price & rational of the components to serve as a time capsule or guide for those who stumble across this in the future. These boxes sat on shelving next to my bed for months, as I saved & set aside components waiting for my build to be complete.

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D ~$420 from Amazon - Purchased in May 2026. Chose this over the 9850x3d to prioritize temperatures & performance seemed largely equal. I went super deep in the weeds looking into electromigration, very happy with the 9800X3D as it runs at 50c-60c under load.

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master MA824 ~$160 from Amazon - Purchased this discontinued model in March 2026; new condition old stock. Chosen due to it's massive 8 heat pipes & ram clearance. I despise AIO/liquid cooling. While I'm sure there were easier options, brand familiarity made me feel more comfortable. The only thing I dislike is the middle fan not being easily removable.

GPU: Zotac 5090 Solid OC ~$3,100 from Micro Center - Purchased in April 2026, and prices have increased once again since. One of, if not the best 5090 card ever produced. Go watch northwestrepair's videos, it has additional fuses meant to protect the board in the event of an electrical surge. Very well built, stays at 55c-60c under load, it's substance exceeds many "premium" options.

Ram: Corsair Vengeance 2x 48gb 5600MTs ~$250 from Amazon - Purchased in January 2025 before the AI apocalypse for a small form factor build. I repurposed this kit, and it has performed beautifully. I got extremely lucky with timing.

Primary SSD: WD SN850X 4TB ~$600 from Bestbuy - Purchased in May 2026 from Bestbuy, I wanted a primary drive to be gen4 for thermal reasons & have dram. I've heard Samsung has had issues previously & this was the most cost effective option with high capacity in mind. Anything further like 8tb just got outrageous.

Secondary SSD: PNY CS2150 2tb ~$180 - Purchased in January of 2025 for that small form factor build. I intend to take a lot of clips & record, therefore I wanted to repurpose this SSD to save my primary one of the wear & tear. I've hear it's a cooler gen 5 model which is relieving.

Motherboard: MSI Tomahawk X870e ~$250 - Purchased in May of 2026. I wanted zero PCIE lane sharing, and liked it's eight fan headers. I was unwilling to consider ASUS or ASROCK due to their voltage X3D incidents. I'm happy with the purchase, but hate how MSI hides the CMOS battery. At least it's replaceable on the Tomahawk unlike the Edge TI. I like how Gigabyte does their CMOS battery, but they don't have non-sharing PCIE lanes at this price point & have a weird X3D feature which turns off CPU threads.

Powersupply: ASROCK TC-1300T ~$320 - Purchased in April of 2026. I saw this model as necessary for my build due to its built in temperature sensor in the 12V-2x6 cable. Great power supply, 1300W was perfect for head room & transient spikes. Very happy with my purchase, the peace of mind is tangible.

Case: Fractal North XL Mesh ~$200 - Purchased in May of 2026 simply because I wanted a mesh case. I prioritize thermals & airflow. The only thing I want to look at is the temperature readings & FPS counter, not the components.

Fans: PHANTEK T30-140MM ~$210 - Purchased six of these for $210 total in May of 2026. I wanted thick fans that would move a lot of air quickly. I don't understand the obsession with noise over temperature, but these sound great even with my aggressive fan curve. They have dual ball bearings & a physical switch on the fan to set it's standard RPM. Love these things. The 30mm width did prevent my front panel from attaching though, so be careful. I'll figure something out lol, worthwhile for the cold temperatures.

Monitors: Samsung Neo Odyssey G8 MINI LED 4k 240hrtz for ~650 in April of 2026 as the main monitor. I love this curved display without worrying about burn in, and the brightness & dimming look so close to OLED I can't tell. It's a shame this model is being discontinued but I highly recommend it. My secondary monitor is a Dell U3023E I got in April 2025 for $500 after falling in love with the 16x10 aspect ratio. Good luck finding this thing, it's a mythical creature for some reason.

All in all, was about seven thousand. All to run Rust at 4k 240fps, and it does :)

4K or OLED monitor?

Hey all, Im in the market for a new monitor. I currently use a 32" MSI Curved monitor, 144hz, 1ms, 1440p. It has been greated and served me well however im looking for an upgrade with all of the 4th of july sales going on. I game on an xbox series x, and I also have a pretty capable pc (6950xt, ryzen 9). I play games like GTA, Valorant, 2k, ect. My budget is the $350 range ( 320-380 is fine). Upon research, I see theres a few 1440 OLED monitors, and also a few 4k LED monitors in said budget(both in one monitor is out of my price range i believe). My main question is what route should I go, will I notice a bigger difference going 4k, or getting an OLED at the same resolution. Any comments, recommendations on a specific monitor, or other advice is all greatly appreciated, thanks!

IPS or OLED guidance and wich options, coming from TN

Budget: -800€

Actual monitor: Benq XL2420T (1080p 120hz 24" TN)

Region of buying: Spain (So Amazon, PCComponentes, etc)

Uses: Adobe products (Basic-medium quality, Photoshop and illustrator mainly but also Premiere), CLIP STUDIO PAINT, Handbrake and tons of web browsing

And gaming of all kinds (Music, dark games, single indie to AAA quality games), just non competitive

Yes, tons of statics for hours

PC:

Be Quiet! DARK BASE PRO 901 + 1 rear Noctua NF-14x25 G2 CB + front Noctua NF-14x25 G2 CB Sx2 PP

MB: GIGABYTE X870E AORUS PRO X3D
CPU: 9800X3D + Noctua NH-D15 G2 CB
RAM: Crucial 2x16GB DDR5 6200mhz
GPU: Nvidia GIGABYTE RTX 4070 Super GAMING OC
PSU: CORSAIR HX1200i SHIFT 2025
2 SSDs

I want to get rid of my monitor due to some screen defects and because i want better colours.

Screen defects can be seen here (from center to center-right you can notice somoe white/brighter trails) , specially the white and black screenshots https://imgchest.com/p/na7kg9x8k48

So i was looking for a new monitor with the following specs:

-27" max
-1440p max (4K would make me downgrade graphics in certain games and i'd like to take full advantage in a balanced way)
-Maximum 240hz (Anything past 240hz would be non noticeable, and if a monitor goes past 240hz i'd reduce it back to a proper one if a game looks weird on +240hz)

I've been looking with the last monitors but been having mixed thoughts:

-Xiaomi G Pro 27qi 2026: The Delta 8 uniformity on colours makes it impossible to focus on drawing correctly

-ASUS XG27ACMES: Checks most of the options, even tho it's IPS, people says "Blacks looks grey" but aren't TN monitors looking kinda grey, too?...Sure, there might be IPS glow lotter, but the monitor, from a reviewer, has the most lowest Delta uniformity on whites and colours.

However, people says OLED models have become better over the years with Tandem and all, but i've also seen that even Tandem have text fringing? and vertical banding,.. But OLEDs have the whole burn-in IN DUE TIME (Oh yeah, they take longer now, but...They burn in the end) and i kinda don't like baby sitting my monitor (I am using a LG C3 TV but that's another topic. We're talking PC here, main monitor, not using a 2nd monitor while still keeping my TN)

So i would like to know your suggestions in both IPS and OLED monitors and the why for each. Don't say "Just buy an OLED and forget", noooonononono... Be reasonable

What CPU/GPU combo to be a reasonable upgrade from my laptop's performance?

My laptop is the Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 with the i5-13450hx and 4060 8GB mobile GPU with the 230w power brick and 32gb DDR5. Got it last year for 800 brand new. Im looking to build my first PC. What are some budget combos that would give it the edge over my laptop as to not get worse performance than I get now. Just want advice from real life people who already are into destop hardware and not just bechmark results. I can manage the rest of the parts.

Which budget graphic card is better?

I wanna build a pc for 1080p gaming and I'm confused between the rtx 5060 ti 8gb and rx9060xt 16gb. Both of these cards are nearly the same price. I've never built a pc so Idk which one is better, saw many people saying that nvidia has better performance and the upscaling and ray tracing and all is better and the amd one has more vram. Can someone who used both in the past or present or just the people who know about these cards tell which one is better? How much better is the nvidia card in terms of the performance, ray tracing and upscaling, etc...
