r/gandhinagar

Anyone else here from a tier 3 college trying to break into AI/data rn?

Because genuinely feels like everyone online either went to IIT/BITS or already has 5 internships somehow.

I’m currently in final year CSE and realised pretty late that my college syllabus alone is NOT getting me anywhere near industry-level AI skills. Started looking outside college for structured programs and came across the IIT Gandhinagar PGD in AI-ML & Agentic Engineering recently (it's close to my home)

But I don't know much about it from an existing student's pov. Anybody here went there? Or are these programs worth the investment?

Ahmedabad & Gandhinagar 2-Day Family Trip Suggestions Needed (with Kids)

Planning a 2-day trip to Ahmedabad & Gandhinagar with kids and looking for suggestions

Places we have shortlisted so far:

Ahmedabad : - Science City, Riverfront, Kankaria Lake, Manek Chowk (for street food)

Gandhinagar :- Adalaj Stepwell, Akshardham Temple, Indroda Nature Park

We heard Manek Chowk might be a bit overrated for street food, so if there are better local food places/ famous eateries, please suggest.

Also, considering the current heat, it would be great if someone could suggest a good itinerary/timing plan to avoid the afternoon heat as much as possible.

Kids also want to try go-karting, so recommendations for good places around Ahmedabad/Gandhinagar would be really helpful.

Ahmedabad vs Gandhinagar — which city makes more sense for a fresher outsider near GIFT City?

Greetings everyone! I've just moved here from Pune to study GIFT City, where I go to college 3 days a week, and I must admit that this city is slowly capturing my heart.

The people in this city are very kind-hearted. I have gotten lost a few times and random strangers have actually stopped to help me get on the right path—not just by saying "go straight" but by really going out of their way to help me! This kind of kindness does actually feel different as an outsider who is far away from their home.

The shopkeepers in my area are also very friendly; I have observed how the shopkeepers in my area talk to other customers and treat all of the customers. As an outsider, I have never felt that I am out of place or unwelcome. Although I am still not fluent in Gujarati, I have found that most people will switch to speaking Hindi without making a big deal about it, which I really appreciate.

I am currently trying to make a decision about where I would like to move to: Ahmedabad or Gandhinagar? I have recently made arrangements with my new roommate and now need to decide which city I would prefer to move into.

About Me:

- I just graduated and am not connected at all in this place.

-My college is located at GIFT City, so I only have class on 3 days and plenty of free time to look for a part-time job.

-I haven't been able to find any job opportunities, but I will continue trying until I do.

My Impressions of the Two Cities:

Ahmedabad - More alive and has more people and things happening, making me feel confident that I can find a job here if I work hard at it. The energy from other people in the city has really contributed to its warmth.

Gandhinagar - Very peaceful and clean; enjoyed my time there. I went on some nice night drives and experienced a completely different vibe from that of my previous city. I tried some of the food at Kudasan and Sector 6, and both places were worth eating at. The only downside is that transportation is a bit expensive and only until 7:30 PM the metro is running. Coming from Pune, where I primarily used the metro, this is going to be an adjustment and cause me to incur additional costs when travelling at night.

What I'm Looking For:

- Which city has more part-time jobs for new graduates or inexperienced workers?

- Where can I develop a network from the ground up?

- Where can I actually build a network from scratch?

- Which one is easier on the pocket for a student?

Would really love to hear from locals or anyone who’s been in a similar situation. Any advice on jobs, networking, or just surviving and thriving as an outsider here would be super helpful 🙏

Rejected a car twice for sports bikes… now I’m still on an Activa in 5th sem 💀 Need advice

I’m 19, 6’5, pursuing BTech CSE AI/ML from Gandhinagar and currently commuting to college on an Activa 3G 😭

Honestly this whole situation is mostly because of my own personality.

2 years back dad asked me to get a small preloved car like a Nissan Micra etc for daily commute. I rejected it.

Then around a year later he literally said:

“Okay then get a brand new car.”

And I STILL rejected it because at that time I was fully obsessed with sports bikes.

But dad has always been super strict about bike safety. The only bike he was okay with was a Royal Enfield Meteor, and I never wanted an RE. I liked Kawasaki/Benelli type bikes which was an instant no from him.

So now years later I’m still going to college on an Activa 3G while being 6’5 😂

The thing is, I have this weird all-in/all-out mindset.

Either:

stay super humble and so polite, use broken phone, dress simple, Go everywhere on Activa, act broke

OR

Suddenly go full “fck u mny” flex so damn hard i can't be competed

No in-between. Somehow☠️

Current situation:

Dad drives a 2016 i20 Magna with 201k kms and plans to upgrade to a Jeep Compass Model S O2 soon.

Now I’m considering for myself:

Hyundai Creta 2019 SX Optional Petrol Automatic 65k kms driven sliver

Or

Hyundai Elantra 2018-19 for maybe similar rate as of creta & blue color

My daily commute would be 50-60kms including 20km and 40km roundabout uni and fun iykyk😉

Also I’m about to enter 5th sem, so literally only 4 semesters are left in this uni — and probably in this country too if things go as planned later.

Mom says:

Better not buy u have gone to college and diploma in buses and activa prefer to go to activa for these years too it'll pass and my ego hurts tbh that time.

Like I survived most college life already on changing amts buses, to activa ☠️

Me and dad also have ego clashes constantly like literally every talk we have consists of my ego👹

so convincing would be hard asf

What would you guys advice me

Continue with Activa for the remaining college life or finally move to a cars?

2 years left of this uni and hopefully in this country too.

Hehee don't advice royal enfield i absolutely have nice words for anyone advicing me for re!👺

Please provide advice as if you're advicing your smaller bro (not in height)🤣 if any alternative choice feel free to let me know.🙏

Trying to be more social again after long relationship

Hey everyone,
After i (26M) coming out of a long-term relationship, I’ve realized that I’ve become pretty awkward and closed off when talking to girls. I’m naturally a bit introverted too, and because of that I’ve already ruined a couple of dates simply because I couldn’t communicate normally or open up properly.

So right now, I’m not really looking to jump straight into dating again. I feel like what I genuinely need first is a good female friend — someone kind, talkative, understanding, and a little extroverted maybe — who can help me get comfortable being myself again and improve my confidence in conversations.

I just want to become normal again socially, open up naturally, and stop overthinking every interaction. Maybe after that, I’ll actually be ready to date someone properly without messing it up.
