Genuinely asking, especially to people from Gandhinagar or those who have rented here.

I’m a working professional and spend most of my waking hours at the office. I usually have lunch and dinner at work, so I’m barely even at home. I’m not looking to throw parties, create noise, or cause any inconvenience to neighbours.

All I want is a decent place to live near my office — Kudasan, Sargasan, Randesan, etc. I’m ready to pay the rent. I’m not asking for a discount or any special treatment.

But somehow, the process keeps following the same pattern.

You talk to the owner.

You visit the flat.

You like it.

You agree on the rent.

Everything seems finalized.

Then they ask for your full name.

And suddenly: “Oh, actually, it’s already been given to someone else.”

Or the conversation just quietly dies.

After this happening repeatedly, it becomes pretty difficult to believe that every single time is just a coincidence.

What frustrates me is the contradiction. Gandhinagar has excellent infrastructure, planned development, beautiful roads, and a standard of living that people proudly compare with cities abroad.

But what’s the point of having modern infrastructure if people are still being judged by their religion before they’re even given a fair chance to rent a home?

I’m not asking anyone to change their beliefs. I’m asking for basic fairness.

Judge me by whether I pay my rent on time.

Judge me by whether I maintain the property.

Judge me by whether I’m a responsible tenant.

Not by my religion or my name.

A city can be modern in its infrastructure and still be painfully outdated in its mindset.

And honestly, that’s the part that needs to change.

Would genuinely like to hear from other people who have experienced something similar in Gandhinagar — regardless of religion. Is this actually common here, or have I just been extremely unlucky with landlords?

I usually drive my own car, but sometimes I need a driver for late-night travel, family functions or outstation trips. Finding someone reliable at short notice is always a headache.

Do other car owners face this too? How do you manage?
