A question for anyone here that has installed a CNC mill in their home shop/garage

I’m really sorry if this isn’t the place to ask this question,

I just moved, I have a nice size shop on my property that I want to purchase a Mill for, something small like a Haas VF1.

My shop is older, has exposed wood studded walls. Would it be advisable to cover the wall in, for example, a steel or aluminum corrugated panel, for added protection from bumps and scrapes but also to hopefully avoid moisture getting on the wood and mold growing?

Replace or refurb existing garage

Hi!

We have a garage on our property that we want to use as an office/storage space. Basically 40% office, 60% storage. However, the garage is in really poor condition and we're unsure whether its better to just tear it down and replace with a timber structure with insulation, or refurb it by replacing the roof, doors, window, and adding insulation.

What are the pros and cons?

  • The garage is 24.5ft in length and 9ft wide.
  • The roof is made up of corrugated asbestos cement sheets (some plastic sheets have been adde for some unknown reason).
  • The walls are solid, and its using a metal framework for the structure/roof.
  • The floor is a solid concrete base.

I need to make sure whatever we do is good for use all year-round.

Our budget is around £10k, if we refurb, I would hope this will cover the roof, doors, and windows professionally and I can finish the internal insulation myself.

Thanks in advance.
