I’m hopeful going around Australia/ New Zealand early next year and just unaware is there anywhere worth going between Sydney and Brisbane or should I just fly directly from Sydney into Brisbane.

Gay American pharmacist with HIV considering backpacking through Europe to rebuild my life — advice?

Hello all, I’m a 39-year-old gay man from the US, and I feel like I’m finally stepping off a life path that was chosen for me years ago. I went straight from high school into university and eventually became a pharmacist/pharmacy manager. Most of my adult life has been structured around responsibility, stability, and taking care of others. Over the years I moved for work, for love, and for family. In the last few years, I lost both my parents and the person I thought I would spend my life with. It forced me to realize that I don’t really know who I am outside of the roles I’ve always filled. So now I’m considering something that feels both exciting and terrifying: backpacking through Europe for a while and intentionally rebuilding my life from scratch. Part of me wants solitude and self-discovery. Another part of me wants connection — hostels, international friends, queer spaces, conversations with strangers, and experiences outside the very controlled life I’ve always lived. A few practical details: I’m American I’m HIV positive (stable/on treatment) I’m exploring possible Polish/EU citizenship through ancestry I have enough savings to make this possible for a while I’ve traveled before, but never in this kind of open-ended way I know this probably sounds cliché, but I genuinely feel like I need a hard reset before I wake up at 50 still living a life that doesn’t feel like mine. For those who have done long-term travel, queer travel, solo backpacking, or major life reinventions: What do you wish you knew beforehand? What mistakes should I avoid? How realistic is this emotionally vs. romantically idealized? Any HIV-specific travel/medication advice in Europe? Any countries/cities that were especially good for healing, community, or self-growth? I’d appreciate honesty, even if it’s difficult to hear.

40- something guy looking for a solo travel destination

I'll be heading from the US to Sweden in early September and was looking for another European destination to visit along the way. Looking good beer and food, and maybe a guy or two along the way. Open to new experiences.

puerto vallarta in june?

30 y.o gay guy Looking to take some time off of work (2-3 weeks) and want to spend it chilling in a gay mecca. I love PV and have a good routine there. Really only need to chill, beach, gym, and have people to talk to. I know the “scene” slows down, but are there still guys there? Don’t need the full party scene but having an option or two to go out on a weekend would be nice. If not PV … where?

Nude/clothing-optional sailing

My partner and I are interested in booking a gay sailing trip for 2027, either clothing optional or (preferably) nude. Some of the gay travel sites give info about the various companies (GaySail, Sailor Dudes, Salty Boys, Bare Waves, and Everything to Sea, among others), but it mostly just looks like marketing info from the companies. I haven’t found any reviews from men who have actually been on the trips.

So I’m asking if any of you have sailed with any of these companies. Where did you go, how was the crew, what was the vibe? Any info people could share would be great.

Gay Europe

Hi everyone! I have about one week in Europe where I just want to relax, unwind, get some inspiration and meet some nice fun people.

What are some recommendations of slow cities in Europe that is a good mix of relaxation, a decent gay population and something that’s not too expensive? (Ideally coastal if possible)

I have looked into Sitges but that looks a bit expensive.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Best Hostels for LGBT

Hey everyone,

I'm going on a mini solo trip to Frankfurt in September and was wondering what hostel would be the best choice.

I'm looking for something not too expensive, but clean and a generally safe area (close to or in the gay area preferentially).

Is there any you'd recommend?

Traveling Photographer?

Wasn’t really sure about how to go about this, so thought I would start here.

Organize and operate a gay travel group. We’re interested in getting a photographer to travel with us to take pictures and video for content creation and advertising. If this is something you’d be willing to in to explore, or know someone who would, DM me. Prefer someone US based, but others can be considered.

Where to travel to with a high end budget?

Mid-30s American. Fortunate to have money at this point in my life for high end travel but don't go on long distance holidays that often.

Where would you go if you had a big budget for a week long trip in Europe if money wasn't an issue? I guess Mykonos in August comes to mind.

Hotels

I want to do a lot of traveling solely to hook up with cute boys. Are guys going to come to my hotel room if I invite them or are people nervous about hotel hookups?

I’ve met quite a few queer travelers in Hanoi recently and it’s kinda changed my perspective

I’ve met quite a few LGBTQ+ travelers around Hanoi and Hai Phong recently and honestly it’s been really interesting hearing perspectives from people with completely different backgrounds and cultures.
As a local university student, I feel like many travelers only experience the “tourist Vietnam” version of places like Hanoi, but some of the best moments here are actually the quieter and more random ones like hidden cafés, old apartment buildings, late-night food spots, train rides, random conversations by the lake, things like that.
Vietnam still has a pretty complicated relationship with queerness socially, especially depending on the generation and the city, but younger people in places like Hanoi and Hai Phong definitely seem much more open-minded and relaxed compared to the past.
I'm a 20 years old Uni student, if you ever come to Hanoi or Planning it, maybe I can help you to discover this area with a diferent view from some traditional tours. Also, I have a question for travelers who’ve visited Vietnam before, what surprised you the most about your experience here?

Torremolinos alone (today)

Are there some bars of nice gay places that one can visit alone? I don't want to end up in a loud bar with groups of people. Any places you can recommend to go alone?

What did 'traveling for real' teach you about gayness that you didn't know before?

If we assume that, unlike a tourist, a traveler tries to adapt to their destination, doesn't mind stepping out of their comfort zone, and interacts; what would you say you have learned, or what unknown perspective on gayness has it given you, that would have been harder to access if you didn't travel?

Planning trip in July

I’m a 40 year old single gay man from Los Angeles and I wanna go somewhere sexy in July. I plan on going solo. I only really care about three things when I travel :

  1. beaches - I’m a California boy, born and raised. I love to body surf and swim in the ocean and lay out and people watch allllllllll damn day if I can.
  2. food - I wanna eat well. Don’t need gourmet or Michelin guide. I just wanna eat flavorful, authentic food. Taste the culture. And access to a lil fast food is always nice. I am an American after all lol
  3. men - again, i wanna taste the culture 😏 a place with a more established gay scene (im sober. So I won’t be hanging out in bars or clubs all that much if at all) but I still like access to them as they are the hub in a sense.

I was thinking
A) Honolulu/waikiki, Hawaii - (easy. Expensive tho)
B) Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (no brainer. Just concerned about the rain and I hate, I mean absolutely LOATHE all inclusive type resorts. So many restrictions. Hard to host)
C) Cartagena, Colombia - (playa Hollywood keeps popping up, I don’t wanna judge a place I’ve never been, but the beach looks a lil crowded and kinda gray. Kinda want something a lil more blue? That make sense? Are there pretty beaches close to there?)
D) Santo Domingo, DR - (zona colonial sounds hot. I’m a generous man, so there is that. But again, what beaches are near there?)

I’m open to all recs and tips.
Thank you!!
