Did my converse George Harrison style :)

(Image 2)

Literally bought converse an hour ago and first thing I did was color the left shoe red!! I know he didn’t have red laces but that’s just a stylistic choice by me.

Not sure what flair to put for this. This subreddit should have an art flair 🤔

My attempt at making the ultimate George Harrison playlist🙏 It ended up over two hours long, and there are still amazing tracks I had to resist including - he really was that great! What would be on yours?

Is this worth anything?

I bought this first pressing release of ATMP on an online auction. It's still in it's original protective film.

How much do you guys estimate it is worth? Not looking to sell, just curious.

George Harrison was known for his lifelong friendship and regular musical collaborations with Ravi Shankar. I did a deep dive into Ravi Shankar's back catalogue and made a chronological playlist of highlights. George produced and features on a number of the tracks included. I hope you enjoy🙏

Living in the Material World — My 1 Slight Tweak to a Masterpiece

I’ve been listening to the album Living in the Material World a lot the past few days.

I think the album is a masterpiece. It’s a very different album from its predecessor. I think of ATMP as an A+ collection of songs on an abundant double album. But Living in the Material World achieves its masterpiece status differently.

It’s a very tight, cohesive, thematically unified album. To me, this album is almost like the George Harrison equivalent of either Ram or Plastic Ono Band — the tightest distillation of its creator’s aesthetic and thematic interests. In this formulation, ATMP is more like Imagine or Band on the Run — the more varied album that’s just full of wall to wall bangers.

Anyway, I think Living in the Material World is George’s second straight masterpiece to start his solo career, but there’s one slight thing that bothers me. I think the sequence could be slightly improved.

Side One is perfect:

  1. Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)
  2. Sue Me, Sue You Blues
  3. The Light That Has Lighted the World
  4. Don’t Let Me Wait Too Long
  5. Who Can See It
  6. Living in the Material World

Perfect. No notes. I think this is one of the best album sides of George’s career and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Side Two, though, has a fairly notable energy sag down the final stretch. But every song is wonderful. And I think it would be fixed with a simple swap:

  1. Be Here Now
  2. The Lord Loves the One
  3. Try Some Buy Some
  4. The Day the World Gets ‘Round
  5. That Is All

I feel like Be Here Now would have been the perfect song to start Side Two. It’s a very Within You Without You way to start Side Two: a cosmic, meditative, beautiful, transcendent song. Very still, after the energy and variety of Side One.

Then The Lord Loves the One, which is a good midtempo rocker, actually feels even more explosive coming after such a still track.

Then the rest of the album plays out as originally sequenced as a comedown and resolution.

In the current version, the only energetic track comes first, then a transcendent but extremely slow track. Then a bunch more slower paced tracks, and it gives the feeling of slogging a bit to the finish line.

Anyway, who am I to tell George how to improve his album? I think it’s a masterpiece either way, but I think this one little tweak would have made it PERFECT.

Hare Krishna!

A remix of "Brainwashed"?

Ive always wondered what George's true vision for the sound of Brainwashed would have been had Jeff Lynne had not ELO'd the shit out of it. George wanted it to sound like lo fi demos and I think that would have been fucking awesome!! It would be cool to hear a stripped down version of it.

What is your favourite aspect about George?

Anything from his music to characteristics. Something that I found so sweet was a quote from pattie boyd where she was meeting him before he died, it was a cold, windy day and there where little flowers in a crack in the pavement moving and George said that "theyre shivering". I find his view of the world incredibly refreshing and profound, another example is that yahoo interview he did where he told people to be "good little souls" jusf such a unique beautiful perspective. I could add a ton of other things but these are what ive been thinking about the most.

What does everyone think of this song?

I think instrumentally, it's quite nice and chill. The lyrics are generic though!
What about you guys?

ATMP Vinyl

Hey guys. Was able to find an ATMP vinyl on ebay for only 35$. Granted, this does not have the original poster and the box itself is less than perfect. Aside from the box, all vinyls are in great playing condition. Was this a solid find?
