The Beatles - Hearty Heart/The Beach Boys - SMiLE
this hypothetical is fairly simple, what if smile and sgt peppers switched places?
in 1967, after a very complicated process of making the album, almost shelving it completely for a multitude of reasons, the beach boys release their long awaited follow up to pet sounds, smile. while not being popular immediately, it would soon be regarded as one of the best records of the 60s, and an early concept album.
however, things did not go so well for the beatles. during the sgt pepper sessions, john falls off the roof, injuring himself. after this they decide to shelve the album, but not before releasing its first single, strawberry fields forever/penny lane
later that year, the beatles released hearty heart, featuring some new tracks, the aforementioned single, and some very pared down tracks from the original sgt peppers.

if you haven’t already, you should check these out
the beatles: huge inspiration for tally hall, along with just a great band in general
weezer: another huge influence on the tallies, check it out if you like stuff like greener and two wuv
they might be giants: similar “weird” vibe as tally hall, another early band to do internet stuff, and just a really fun band imo. they were tally hall/lemon demon before tally hall/lemon demon
miracle musical: literally just tally hall minus andrew. no, i’m not joking. if you like concept albums and if you like joe’s songs PLEASE check this out
the lemon twigs: underrated band with a similar beatley sound as some tally hall songs. they also have a new album coming out soon
lemon demon: i know, cliche recommendation, but you might like it. imagine they might be giants and tally hall combined (with more keyboards)
