Selling my tracker - Hope this is allowed

Sold! A nice young man swooped it up immediately! Godspeed, Tilly!

Located in central Missouri.

4k - Priced to sell. Would also trade for a nice zero turn lawn mower... Title in hand. I'll take more pics when I get off work.

This is my 4WD manual 93 tracker. It's in good condition. Just got a new radiator last year. Milage is 90,000 and two owners' total.

The only thing wrong with it, is the wire connection for the heat gauge is loose. But it just needs rewired. Minimal rusting on the bearings, body is in good condition. One broken light on the front side but I have a replacement.

I also have a set of replacement breaks.

Spare tire. Back hatch opens perfectly. Has original stickering & matching tires. Currently topless but comes with a soft white top.

Worked perfect when I parked it for the winter. Will be getting it out and ensuring nothing is wrong before scheduling test drives. Parked/stored under carport/tent so not exposed to the elements.

I am pregnant and haven't been able to drive it this summer. And it's not safe for a child. I won't have a lot of time to enjoy it for a while, so unfortunately, I am parting with it.

4wd not working

I have a manual 93 sidekick and went to test out the 4wd today and it seems like the transfer case is locked up. Locked front hubs, put it in 4h and the thing won’t budge. Tried 1st gear, reverse, nothing. It feels like it wants to but it’s like it’s bound. Tried rocking it and it felt the same as an automatic in park. I unlocked the front hubs and still the same problem only now it feels like only the rear wheels are in a bind. Jacked up the front end and spun the tires in free, locked the hubs and same issue, tire turns a tiny bit, hear the hubs engage and tires lock. I checked the transfer case fluid and it is full and was changed a couple years ago. Not sure where to go from here and could really use some help

2000 Chevy Tracker

I have the opportunity to buy this Tracker from a family friend who also happens to be a mechanic that has maintained her meticulously throughout her entire lifetime. There’s no rust, AC works, interior is mostly pristine, etc. He’s asking $3500 for her which I think is reasonable, considering that she has 92k miles. I have always, always wanted one of these and what makes it even better (for me anyway) is the fact that she’s a convertible and a 5 speed. He mentioned that she needs a new soft top, and that’s the reason for my post. How hard are they to find/take on and off..? Is it possible to get a hard top for it instead..? I’ve read conflicting things about this so figured I’d reach out to those who may know best. Do you all think $3500 is reasonable? I’m in Savannah, GA if that makes a difference.

Oil change question

I’m sorry if this question has been asked before. I have 1994 Geo Tracker 1.6L 8v that I just recently bought. No oil leaks that I have found, and seems to run pretty darn good. The only “big” fix I need to do is the exhaust, as currently the pipe between the cat and the muffler is busted, but the manifold and cat look in good condition. The odometer has rolled over and I’m pretty sure it’s at 207k miles.

My dad told me I should be putting 20w-30 or anything “20w” because it’s an old engine. Every thing I have read online is either 5w-30 or 10w-30/40. For additional context- I live in TX and it’s hot asf most of the year, and only goes below freezing like 10 days out of 365. What are y’all’s opinions and why?

“Yellow Bird” revival. (First Post)

1991 Geo Tracker that my Dad bought new for my Mom. Mom named her Yellow Bird. She spent a couple of years in Michigan then moved south to Georgia with my parents.

When my dad was ill, he said to me, “I know that you love that little car. Take it home with you when I’m gone..”

Because of that comment because my adult kids grew up riding around in it with Grampy and love it I feel compelled to keep it going. The transmission was shipped off to be rebuilt, it’s on its second engine, and I’ve lost count on the number of tops.

This is her second trip to the body shop in 10 years, both times due to someone hitting me and driving off…

Anyway, I’m excited to have her getting some cosmetic work done. She currently runs fine, but she definitely needs a little spa day at the body shop. I’ll post when she’s back home.

I’m excited about finding this group, I’ve read lots of good suggestions already!

Looking for an AC liquid line for an 04 chevy tracker

I just bought an 04 tracker 2.5L REAL cheap and the only thing that I need that isn't working is the AC.

I doubt this is the only issue, but the liquid line is missing, and I can't diagnose any other AC issues until I replace it.

I can't find one anywhere.

Yes, I have googled. Yes, I know the vitara has interchangeable parts. Yes, it's very easy to find the other AC lines.

But no, I cannot find the one I need.

Any assistance in this department would be greatly appreciated. I don't know a whole lot about working on cars so feel free to assume I'm an idiot in that regard. No solution that will get my car blowing cold air is too stupid for me.

Condensation leak - did I guess right?

My passenger floorboard is soaked after a half day drive with the a/c on. Am I right that it’s this tube that needs a diverter? Something else? Where do I find one..? I’ve been combing through the forums! It also had no cabin air filter.. I just bought it yesterday. Thanks all!!

Need new engine ideas

So I have a 93 chevy tracker that recently died (15 psi compression test :/) and since i cant get anymore than 300 dollars for it i want to swap the engine. Has anyone tried swapping anything fun into theirs? Ive seen the MANY posts about a tdi swap, ecoboost (which ill probably go with an ecoboost if i dont have any others), and swapping to a 8valve but i would like to try something really wonky like a k20/24. Has anyone done a swap that may be cool, other than a sidekick and/or something not mentioned before? Too add, I know i could probably get like 500-1k from it but ive already dropped roughly 5-8 thousand with almost a full months worth of working hours into the car and dont think selling it is worth. specifically looking to see if someone has swapped the aforementioned k24, or a sr20, or even a 1jz and would like you input.

Reasonably fitting 33s

Updating my findings from this previous post of the same name (hopeful same start starting photo), to help anyone interested in doing similar.

Extremely do able not overly complicated if your willing to do some mediocre cutting/fabricating. By no means a bolt in and trim fenders situation. Unless you want the turning radius of a 747 I guess.

Not gonna lie I was a little disappointed with the lack of insite any one had on this. It is understandable that any vehicle has groups of purist who are against going out side of the normal. ( to the fact ive seen someone either here or another tracker/sidekick page/sub going off on a kid, having a minor issue from a lift asking how people remedy it, about how they were designed perfect from the factory stop messing with it you won't have an issue).

I feel i was pretty forth coming about how this was the farthest thing from a museum peice and was only ment to be a sxs stand in and nearly any cutting is fair game. These were the questions I asked, these were (mostly) not the answers I received. I asked about 33s i already own not 31s so any info not about 33s is irrelevant its well know 31s fit easily. I mention i got it for $1000 and cant imaging spending the money people want for golf carts and sxs so I suggest a lift kit that will fit 33s but if I recall cost more then a golf cart or older well used sxs. One dude posted his budget build where he modded his contol arms the slightest bit on a 2" lift and it work. That guy was the mvp and the only thing I needed to see for me to realize this was extremely doable. The former opinions seems to be the go to additude as if bolting on a kit and slight trimming is the only answer to a problem anymore (leveling kit and wides is a build kind of energy), anyway enough ranting.

Where the fire wall/rocker in the way... absolutely

Was it a complex fix... the way I did it,sort of, but it could easily be simplified and be about as easy as replacing a rusted out floor panel, which people with no buisness doing are doing everyday. Basiclly your ditching plastic bumpers doing mini wheel tubs( if you want call them that) and trimming down the fender

And the best part it still has nearly the full turn radius it did before with no rub. I did have to give a slight turn in on the stoppers as the tires were just rubbing off my undercoat job as I failled to take into account the 2" suspension lift would slight move the wheel inward as it pushed the control arm down 🤷‍♂️

The 33x12.5 on rough country 15x10 -39 steel wheels are literally about the max you can go and do this with 2" suspension lift and 2" body lift Any more tire and the frame would be fully in the way and you would have to cut to much out of the doors hinge pillar to be reasonable with out changing the the steering geometry and the fire wall tubs would start to get ridiculous. Some one could probably squeeze 35" but I wanted full turn no rub while with reasonable suspension movement. 33s may rub if I give it a good bounce while im in it but who cares cvs will probably blow first.

Photos should show roughly the amount I had to cut. My rockers were shot so I ended up welding in a 2x6 while I was involved. Ultimately the outside of the rocker/ fender only has an inch or less cut off as the tire tucked behind it quite well and really only started to became an issue into the firewall/footwell area about 4-6" behind the fender this also ment i was pretty much able snip of a small amount of the wheel liner and keep that full intact by using xmas tree clips in to my piller patch panel.

Most of the work I had involved was patching the rotten floor. And bedlined it. All this starting right before June and I had it ready 4th of July for some fun. It was a long exhausting month but it paid off and I've and an alot of fun with it so far.

Obviously there are things left to do. I have a winch on hand for it but need to figure out bumpers and a patch plan for the areas under the tail lights. I will get new struts eventually and fix the camber issues and a few other thkngs here and there. Otherwise I could be happier for the amount I have invested, it does exactly what I want. 5th gear is useless but its not intended to driven on the highway anymore and 4 low in 1st will putt around/over obstacles without any gas peddle input. I have eyes out for a samurai front axle and maybe ill look into a regear down the road if that happens. Along with upgrading as issues arise.

If anyone has questions feel free to ask. Whether it be about the lift, body removal frame/fuel tank repair, body rust repair, what ever. I do collison repair professionally so if you have any questions regarding any body rust issues I and can give my best opinion on the little odd balls based off what I learned being so "intimate" with this particular vehicle.

Anyone done a 2" puck lift? I have a question or two (with pictures.

I got my Altered Ego (Zuki Nation) lift kit in the mail and I've been working on throwing it all together.

It the instructions for the front end of the vehicle there's a line that says "Re-install sway bar (optional)". Im not really sure what that means. I'd like to reinstall it but as you can see in the first picture the a-arm no longer sits horizontal after installing the pucks. It looks to me like I may need to get some kind of spacer for the sway bar. I'm thinkinf that maybe with the tires on and the truck on the ground I might be able to get the sway back connected to the a-arm but im concerned that hitting a bump or something would break it.

Also in the instructions it says that I need to adjust the "steering stop bolts" and I'm struggling to find where exactly they are. I'd call the company for clarification but I can only really work on this during the weekends and they're only open mon-friday so I thought I'd ask here. Thanks.

Tackled a rear fender today.

Well the rear fender went a little easier than the front fender yesterday. By the time #3 and #4 are done I’ll have this down.

1997 Geo Tracker

I have a 1997 Geo Tracker. 2door hard top. 4wheel drive. No rust. Original owner would even drive it on a muddy road. Me neither.
Wondering the value? And how to find buyer. 121K miles.

1995 Geo Tracker

Howdy everyone. I found this 95 Geo tracker on marketplace, 5sp Manual, 204k miles, carfax is clear of accidents or significant findings. I am test driving it on Sunday- i’ve read some of the previous posts and most people say to really look for any rust. Is there anything else I should look for specifically? Sounds like it has been in a garage the last few years but runs well according to seller. Also is the price good? I know it has a lot of miles, I’m looking for something fun to bop around town in. I can do most standard maintenance myself (oil, brakes, spark plugs, etc) and don’t mind small repairs but i am concerned about significant issues.

How would you rate the underside on this ‘95

Bad? Not so bad? Otherwise in good shape. AC even works

Started welding the fenders

Well I started welding the fenders despite how hot it was today. Lots more fluffing and buffing and then a little skim coat of Bondo before paint. 3.5 more to go 🤦🏼‍♂️ this sheet metal welds like Swiss cheese.

Still debating on cutting them on the outside and laying it a bit flatter or just wait until I lift the front more and see what it looks like.

1.8L fluid specifications (5 speed)

Owners manuals are expensive and this info seems hard to find. Hopefully this can help someone down the line.

Owners manual is from a 98 but I assume it would fit all 1.8l 5 speeds
