Interesting model training artifact I found as a suggestion when entering “the” on Google Translate (Russian to English).

Rather disturbing and creepy translation detection glitch..

Has anyone else seen this with google translate?

I hit some kind of language detection glitch and instead of the usual detection to the Thai language, it detected another language (Afar). It started outputting completely unrelated profane and disturbing phrases that weren’t in the original text at all.

What was weird is it didn’t feel like a typical mistranslation .. the output looked almost corrupted or broken in some way and the repeated word patterns are a little concerning. Did someone programme it as a joke or is this just a coincidence?? I tested a few languages and the same words came up.

I already submitted feedback to Google!

I find this bug very annoying, it's the only reason I only use LLM AI for translation nowadays

The bug: your whole text must be in one language otherwise Google Translate just gives up

How do I stop sounding like a bot when using a translator?

English isn't my first language, so I often dictate my thoughts in my native tongue and use a translator for my posts. People keep calling me a bot or "GPT" because the translation comes out too formal.

How can I make my translated English sound more human and less "robotic" without being fluent yet?

Why is Translate explaining the translation, but in the language I don't know?

I don't have Spanish region, language pack, keyboard or anything installed in my phone. Why are the definitions given in the source language? There's no button to set my native English as the "known" language.

Garbage In, Poem out?

ok now i think GT lost its mind for sure. advanced mode gives like the most random answers when you spam randomly into it.
here, its quoting a sacred text, when all i typed was random characters.

Google Translate translates into the incorrect language.

I am a whole RED BLOODED American, who speaks English and nothing in my language preferences has changed. Yet, when I highlight a text, Google Translate decides I speak Spanish and it translates into that. I checked my language preferences, realized I had “add new languages“ on, deleted Spanish from my languages and I thought that fixed it. Nope! Nothing changed. What now??
