What is that thing on this groundhog?

Hi y’all. I just saw this groundhog and I’m wondering what that disk is at the back of its neck. Any guesses?

Giving them water?

I live next to an open field, and there are many groundhogs that’s live there. I occasionally go out and give them some food. I realize that they don’t actually drink water but where I am this week it’s 42+ degrees everyday and thought they might actually need some.

Usually they don’t run from me, but I put some water bowls down & they seem to be scared of it, what’s with that?

hi does anyone know what could possibly be wrong with this little guy? besides the patchiness he seems to be struggling to walk a little, wobbling back and forth. Is this just old age? anything i can do? I don’t know anything about groundhogs other than they are really cute.

Meet pat he just moved in

I watch him nap at the opening of his home. He is a cutie. Hopefully he won't get into things. I don't want to rehome him.

Our groundhog passed away and I am devastated.

I found out tonight the groundhog in our backyard passed away. My husband was talking to our next door neighbor who said they found a dead groundhog in their yard and think their dog got it. Our groundhog made a pretty large home for himself behind our shed next to their yard and I haven’t seen him in a few days. I checked his home tonight and he wasn’t in there.

We moved to this house 5 months ago and he has been the only thing I have liked about our new house. Moving has been extremely difficult for me and he was the one thing bringing me joy.

I would check out my window 20 times a day looking for him, watching him, learning his routine and I cant fathom that that is all gone now. I have been crying all night for a little guy I grew so attached to in such a short amount of time. He deserved so much more and its hard thinking about what his last moments were like. I know not many people are happy about a rodent in their yard so I figured this is the best place to get my feelings out in a place where others understand.

He has a large stick house and its going to be so hard seeing it knowing hes not there. I loved my little groundhog. 💔

Find the groundhogs

Terrible pic but you get the point! No clue how they got on the roof of my shed. When I went out onto my back deck to get a better view they ran off the other side and another one came jumping out of my peach tree! I had no idea they were climbers!
