Criticism of the moderation on the main GuildWars3 subreddit

Has anybody else noticed that every post on main 'GuildWars3' subreddit has to be approved by a single moderator? It's a problem that the mod over there refuses to address.

Not only is official news late because it needs preapproval, but a single moderator is controlling the narrative, meaning any posts they don't like or disagree with could be removed without anyone's knowledge. You can't have community growth or true discussion when a single moderator debilitates a subreddit in this way.

I've engaged with this moderator one to one, and they actively shut down any discussion or criticism regarding changing their rules. Their behavior has been constructively criticised by multiple people over at the 'GuildWars3' subreddit (as well as on the 'mmorpg' subreddit), but you'll see that most of their comments simply dodge the question: why does every post on the main 'GuildWars3' subreddit need preapproval?

It's gotten to the point that fringe subreddits such as 'gw3sub' are becoming more popular as the moderator of 'GuildWars3' is actively hamstringing their own comminity from growth and genuine discussion.

Permission to Repost. Let's Think About This Guild Wars Community.

(Reposting to avoid Reddit violation as I forgot to erase some information.)

The community should seriously think about what happened over there.

A Guild Wars 3 post from the founder of this sub was removed from a very large sub. I’m not going to name the sub to avoid Reddit violations and for us to be on the safe side. But the bigger issue is what happens when a small group of moderators gets so much control over what an entire community is allowed to discuss.

When moderators can simply decide what stays up and what disappears, it can start feeling less like community moderation and more like an overlord system where the people running the subreddit decide what the “acceptable” conversation is.

This is exactly why I think building new Guild Wars 3 communities is important. We shouldn’t wait for someone else to give us permission to talk about the game. We can build our own spaces.

I actually created r/GuildWarsDrama for this reason. If discussions about moderation, controversies, community disputes, removed posts, or other issues aren't welcome over other subs, then there’s a place where those topics can be discussed openly.

The point is about having alternatives. Let's not put the entire Guild Wars community discussion in the hands of Reddit Moderators. They should listen to the community and not the other way around. Let us build, participate, and create our own spaces.
