Is a full face absolutely NEEDED for old school/ganguro make?

My skin is very dry and super sensitive to makeup, I haven’t found a single foundation or concealer that didn’t cause me to break out. I don’t really want to ruin my whole face just for a makeup look. Obviously. But if it’s absolutely necessary, I’ll just bite through it, could be worse. Still, it’s worth asking first before turning myself into a pizza face. I also added some reference pictures so y’all know what typa makeup I’m talking about.

First time trying a more dramatic gyaru make! Please give concrit!

I usually do a more toned-down style like Hime, so this is a bit new to me. Ik I should have lashes on, I just ran out today, which is why I just threw on some random small ones on top. So pls don't go too hard on me for being lashless :C

Also, if anyone has any bottom lash recs that'd be great bc my fav brand for bottom lashes just got discontinued!

Any advice on how I could pluck my eyebrows?

Please ignore my eye, there’s still leftover mascara.

So. I want to pluck my eyebrows, but I have no idea what shape would fit best. I’m going for an old school/ganguro look, so not super duper 2000s runway thin. I’m not very experienced with eyebrow shapes, so any advice would be appreciated! :)

If you can, saving my picture to your gallery and drawing the shape that would fit the vibe best over my eyebrow would be great! Obviously not a must, but it would really help me!

Help a baby gal! Which makeup products should I buy for a full face look?

I really want to reproduce the tutorials from magazines but I have no idea where to start besides foundation and concealer

ya/manba makeup examples I've collected + a small rant

basically all but two of the gals are from angeleek and I'm not sure of the identity of the last four gals!

i see all the time of things like "baby gals shouldn't use white in their droop" or "the droop should start from where the pupil is" and I think that tends to be a bit misleading, especially when there are examples of heisei era gals doing the exact opposite. what INSTEAD is important is mastering the basics before moving on to experimenting!!! because if you're not following any framework you're gonna end up with something that won't be identifiable as gyaru - you earn the freedom to create your own ya/manba look once you fully understand the fundamentals.

i also wanted to touch on the misconception that ya/manba make is supposed to look messy. no, it is not - look at all the references I've collected!! they all look clean and polished, sure the application may be messy but the end result is what matters and the end result isn't messy!

so to baby gals / those new to gyaru, you can absolutely try new things with your make just make sure to learn the basics first!

Are plucked/drawn on eyebrows a must?

Specifically for Ganguro. My brows aren’t really bushy or big, but I also don’t really wanna pluck them nor draw them on.

I’ve tried the glue stick + powder method multiple times a while ago, it always looked terrible in person…and I can’t draw eyebrows symmetrically.

I’m afraid of plucking, not because of the pain, more of the dark tiny hairs that will regrow. I have brown eyebrows, so they will be noticeable. I also can’t cover them with any makeup, since my skin is extremely dry and prone to breaking out when I apply foundation or concealer.

I haven’t seen anyone else ask this, so here we are.

question by a shiro gyaru (─‿‿─)

hey guyss!! 🩷 today i wanted to ask y’all something really important to me: are fake lashes required for gyaru makeup (as a shiro gyaru)? consider the fact that i already don’t wear lenses, but i have naturally long lashes and big eyes that can achieve a similar look with just mascara!! can i probably make a larger droop and with no lashes still be read as gyaru? tell me your opinions!! (⌒ω⌒)
