Question about special ordering

I had some questions regarding special ordering books from the HPB website, I was wondering if any employees or people with experience could help me out. The website lists a $1.99 shipping price to have books sent to a nearby store for pickup. Obviously, some used books are in better shape than others, and since the website doesn't list the condition of each item, I'd like to be able to inspect the book I order before paying for it. So can I pay the shipping price, have it sent to a nearby store, inspect it, and then choose whether or not to buy it? I'm ok with potentially eating $1.99 for a damaged book, but not the full price. Also, if I have an item shipped this way and come pick it up during the Labor Day Sale, will I be able to purchase it for the sale price? Thanks!

How much?

Hello, I have about 100 mass market horror paperbacks ranging from the 70s, 80s, 90, 2000’s. I have a huge library and have to get rid of them. I know I’ll get more money by using EBAY, or just selling them on Bookstagram. But honestly, I don’t really want to deal with the hassle of all that and deal with people claiming they never got the books through media mail. If I brought them to a half priced books, what can I expect to get? And would they even take all of them?? I know I wouldn’t get much. But I’m just curious before I take a few totes of books over there.

Thank you in advance!

Half Price Books DVD buyback seems ridiculous to me

Here’s what’s funny about these DVDs. Some of the DVDs I’m trying to sell were actually purchased from Half Price Books in the first place. I have some that still have their original Half Price Books price stickers on them showing $49.99.

I also know they’re selling certain DVDs I gave them for $40 or $50, yet when I bring in a large collection, they want to offer me around $2 per DVD, and in some cases even less. Some maybe .25

I understand they have to make money, and I’m not expecting to get retail prices. But when you see them reselling some of the exact same types of DVDs for $40 or $50, getting offered pennies or a couple dollars feels pretty insulting.

Honestly, at this point, I’d rather give the DVDs away for free to someone who will actually enjoy them than sell them to an organization where I feel like they’re going to turn around and make a huge markup.
Am I being unreasonable here, or does the Half Price Books buyback system seem completely lopsided?

Don’t buy sims games here

I bought a sims 4 get to work pack from a half price books store in Ohio while on vacation only to realize when I got home that sims packs can only be used once because they require a code that can only be used on one account. I feel scammed because I spent money on something totally useless. What makes it worse is I saw so many more sims 3 expansion packs there that I assume will have the same problem.

Bulk Pokémon Cards

Has anyone tried selling their bulk Pokémon cards to any Half Price Books? I'm running out of storage and want to see if I can do it this way.

Thanks in advance!
