I just got my first hamster and she seemed to like me at first. I gave her time to get acclimated to her enclosure and everything.

Today I tried to bond with her by giving her fruits and vegetables to snack on like freshly cut apples, blueberries, and carrots. She seemed to love them. However shortly after eating she bit my finger and went to the corner of the clean empty room that I let her roam in. She seemed stressed so I let her calm down before moving her back onto her enclosure.

Any advice on how to make my hamster more comfortable?

Ik heb een tijdje terug een post gemaakt over een ongepland nestje omdat mijn hamster was ontsnapt, nu heb ik nog 2 dames over uit het nestje die dringend een huisje zoeken.
Het gaat om 2 bruine Syrische hamster vrouwtjes (hamsters leven alleen en horen in een verblijf van minimaal 100x50x50) maar groter is altijd beter gezien vrouwtjes eerder gestrest raken. Ze zijn handtam en geboren op 30 mei 2026

Kan jij een goed huisje bieden en heb je je goed ingelezen over welke zorg en aandacht ze nodig hebben? Graag een berichtje sturen

Hi hammy lovers! Meet my new hamster, Provolone Cheese (or Cheese for short). When I first got her, the previous owner had her in those "optimal" cages for hamsters sold at pet stores. I've seen TikTok videos in the past of cage tours for other's hamsters and learned they need lots of space. Thankfully, Cheese was given to me just as my paycheck hit. You know what that means! Spending about $200 on the best things I could get for her. Everything was purchased on Amazon. I felt so bad that she was living in that small cage, especially without a wheel! Unfortunately I underestimated the size of the wheel online and I'm pretty sure it's too big. If not, please tell me otherwise! When I was putting her cage together I thought I put enough bedding but I figured out I didn't way after I put in all the accessories. I wanted to move her ASAP, so I just put Cheese in there and plan on giving her more bedding tomorrow. I haven't had a hamster since I was little, so I'm really excited to take care of this adorable baby.

Just posting pics of my hamster that passed a bit ago. I’m on college and miss him every day. I went to a ER to put him down after he started having respiratory distress at ~3 years. He was my emotional support animal during hard times and I miss him.
