New to Harn

I'm an avid roleplayer and prefer grounded settings/games focused on resources, manpower, NPC interactions, etc.. Having been in the hobby for about 15 years as a GM and a player, I've found I just prefer 1-on-1 games.

I'd really love to experience Harn and thought I'd come here to note my interest for a GM. I'll include some info below, but feel free to PM me any questions or your Discord if you're interested.

About Me:

  • In my 30s
  • From the eastern US
  • Respectful of people's time
  • Working mic
  • Enjoy dialogue, strategy, planning, resource management, in-game projects

Some Systems I Already know:

  • Mythras/Runequest
  • Codex Integrum
  • Twilight 2000
  • Cepheus Engine (Traveler, Modern War, etc.)
  • D&D (5e, 5.5e, 3.5e)
  • Call of Cthulhu

On Psionics and their cultural implications

With magic being highly formalized in the ways of the Shek P’var I wonder if psionics are a bit underused in the world build. I would imagine a group like the PSI corp from Babylon 5 would form to protect Psionic Users and at least nobles would hire people to protect their thoughts against mental intrusions.

Thoughts and opinions please.

Rule wise I find psionics are integrated into the system quite elegantly.

Dead Weight (an alternative view)

The previous post discussing the Dead Weight "starter" adventure brought back fond memories of a campaign that I ran several years back. All of the players were new to Harn and only two of them had any previous TTRPG experience. I used Dead Weight as a means to bring a group of characters together that otherwise didn't have a whole lot in common. The campaign lasted about 3 years and I had a lot of fun embroiling the characters in the events of NW Harn (mostly Rethem).

Here are a couple links to PDFs of the running campaign narrative that I was trying to keep up with. The campaign lasted much longer than the narrative shows, but the other PDF (exported from a Powerpoint) gives an overview of what happened beyond the narrative.

Makes me nostalgic. :-)
