Making Corps more threatening

What do you do to make your players afraid/defiant of corporations ? I'm a rather nice GM and it is hard for me to play intimidation/threatening characters.

I'd like to find a way to make corporations feel more dangerous. But simply sending waves and waves of hitmen is not interesting : either the hitmen succeed and the characters arre dead (boring), or they fail and the characters will think they're just built different and won't be scared.

I think a part of the problem is that I've only played one shots so far, so I didn't really have the time to develop how dangerous corps can be. I'm also struggling to roleplay intimidating characters, so when my players meet with Mr Johnson or any corporate agent, they don't really see them as someone they should not mess with (although they are not openly disrespectful, except once but it was bad DMing on my part).

So what do you do to make corps feel more like a threat ? How would you play a corporate agent to make it seem like they are no joke ? And what would happen if the players get on a corporation's bad side (sending hitmen ? attack their loved ones ? Kidnapp them for interrogation ? Tickle them till they beg them to stop ?) ?

Opinions about Shadowrun Anarchy V2

I started playing SR with the 5th edition, and I was hooked by the setting, but less so by the system. So I tried Anarchy and it was pretty great, aside from the armor rules (which I changed) and the Anarchy points rules (which I don't use because I find it redundant with luck points).

But I see that there is a second edition of SRA and I might be interested. I'm assuling they updated the lore (which I mostly get from the Internet) but I also wanted to know what were the changes in terms of rules, and if buying the book was worth it.

If you tried SRA2, could you give me your feedback so I can decide wether I buy it or stick with SRA ?

Thanks omae

I don't mind Kabru so much that I watched the series at a moderate pace!

https://preview.redd.it/9ddkcd4bmz9h1.jpg?width=499&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=169b8955301af793b655d33ce225a212e5b966f2

I have watched Dungeon Meshi. I have read some of it. I don't mind the beginning. But each time, the moment this interesting but ultimatey flawed character shows up with the group of adventurers that seem to be friend with him, I just keep watching the episode befor going back to other activities. Seeing them makes me want to do nothing in particular. If I met them in real life, I would not really talk to them (which wouldn’t be difficult, since they don't have any reason to interact with me either). The author has managed to create a character I don't mind so much that it had no effect on my appreciation of the serie. Am I alone in this? Does Kabru’s existence not fill the rest of you with indifference?

Rêve de Dragon : des retours ?

Bonjour,

Hârn as a RP focused TTRPG

Hello,

So I got my hands on a Hârnworld pdf a while ago and I really like the idea of a TTRPG in a setting that's more medieval than fantasy. I think I would like to play in it, probably as a GM.

The only thing is : my table's style of game is more focused on roleplay, story-driven, with simple systems that allow for quick resolution of actions and conflicts. Meanwhile I feel like most of Hârn players like the realism, the logistics and the extreme attention to detail (let me know if I'm wrong).

Would it make sense for me to adapt a simple system to Hârn to play it as I would play, say, Dungeons and Dragons or another fantasy TTRPG ? Or do you think this would go against the very principle of Hârn ?

I was thinking of different systems, probably the Basic Roleplaying System (which I've heard is not far from Hârnmaster), the system used for Warhammer Fantasy (with a similar system for careers and combat casualties) or, if I want to keep it really simple, the system used for Barbarians of Lemuria (but that's a stretch maybe). Let me know if you ahve an opinion about what system I should use, but keep in mind that I aim for simplicity.

Thanks for your help !

Can Pathfinder 2e fix my marriage ?

So my (43M) wife (31F) just asked for a divorce because according to her I was spending too much time and money on D&D.

My salary does not cover my game expenses so I had to take some money from our joint account to buy a few D&D books (for a total of $426.14) and now she's pissed because "most of that money came from her income" and "was meant for emergencies".

Like I know she broke an arm falling down the stair and that we could use the money for the hospital bill, but I'm writing a campaign for when I find some players and I really need the books for inspiration. Also it is a JOINT account so whatever money there is is both for her and ME.

Anyway, I don't want to get a divorce because if I don't have that joint account I can say goodbye to D&D and that's just the worse that could happen. I was told that Pathfinder 2e fixes a lot of issues that D&D have so I was wandering if it could do something for my relationship, what books I need to buy and how much it would cost (there is still $50.96 in the joint account, half of that in mine and I'm willing to take a mortgage).

Thanks fo the help !

How long for Blackwater Creek

Hey, I wanted to play Blackwater Creek with my players but we probably won't havee much time. For those of you who played the scenario : how long did it take ? Were you able to do it in one session and how long was that session ?

I had ideas to make it shorter but I want to know if it is necessary or if the scenario is short enough already.

Edit: so what I get from this is that, although it's possible to run it quickly, it's better if you take your time and really explore it. My players are gonna go home for summer so I'll probably play a simple one-shot this time and keep the bigger scenaio for when they come back. Thanks for your help !

Advice about bluetooth headphones

Hello Reddit, my previous bluetooth headphones don't work anymore. They were not bad, but they were not very great either. I'd like to invest some money in a good, durable set of bluetooth headphones, and I wanted to know if you could recommand me a specific set.

What I need is a set that will last me and has noise reduction. My budget is 100-150 euros (I live in the EU, for americans it's about 120-180 dollars). I'm not looking for top-quality, but whatever is best within my budget.

I hope this is not out of topic for this sub. Thank you very much !
