I’m m planning to do spit circuit on 4 wheeler and have heard roads from kaza to Manali are really bad
Should i take my Audi q3 for the trip or rent a self drive car like a Scorpio in Chandigarh and then do the trip in that ?

Kalpa → Rakcham → Chitkul → Nako in late June / early July — how bad are the landslides really? Anyone been recently?

Planning a solo trip from Mumbai, roughly June 27 to July 4. Route is Chandigarh → Reckong Peo → Kalpa (2N) → Rakcham (1N) → Chitkul (1N) → Nako (1N) → back to Chandigarh.

What I genuinely want to understand is the landslide situation on this specific route during this window.

A few things I'd love to hear from people with recent experience:

  1. Chandigarh → Reckong Peo (overnight Volvo)** — how often is NH-5 blocked around Jeori / Nigulsari? Is it typically a few hours or are we talking full-day situations?

  2. Sangla–Chitkul road — I know there's no alternate route beyond Batseri. Has anyone been stuck there? How long did it take to clear?

  3. Chitkul → Nako leg — this seems like the sketchiest part of the return. How routine are the 4–12 hour closures that ai suggested me.

  4. General vibe— is late June / early July manageable if you're flexible with timing, or is it genuinely "don't go" territory?

Not looking to be talked out of it — just want real ground-level input before I finalise dates and figure out how much buffer to build into the return leg.

Thanks in advance 🙏

Kasauli: where pine silence meets golden sunsets

Kasauli is a quiet hill town in Himachal Pradesh known for its pine forests, colonial charm, and peaceful vibes. Visitors enjoy walks on Mall Road, views from Sunset Point, and trails like Gilbert Trail. The fresh mountain air, cozy cafés, and slow pace make it perfect for relaxation, especially for those seeking a calm escape from city chaos and noise.

Looking for best places. Locals, pls help.

We're a family of 3 adults and 1 kid (8 yr old) and are looking forward to a trip to Himachal. Which are some of the best must visit locations that are less touristy plus the ones that would let us experience snowfall?

Pls let me know the best spots. Thanks!

Travelling first time F22

I am planning a trip with one of my friends, and it will be our first trip to the mountains. We are confused between Bir and Jibhi/Shoja — which place would you suggest for first-timers?

We are also unsure whether we should join a travel group or plan everything on our own. Budget is not a major issue, but we do not want to spend extra money on things that are not worth it.

We know about two travel groups — and. Are they good options, or would you recommend planning the trip ourselves?

Please suggest:

Which destination would be better for us
Whether joining a travel group is worth it
Which travel group would be better if we choose one

Best authentic Tibetan dumplings/momos in Manali?

On a trip to Manali soon, being a foodie would like to explore good food options in Manali. I heard Siddu is something i should have but don’t know exactly where, same goes for momos, esp the mutton momos in hill stations are really good. Any suggestions are welcome.

Rented a scooty and accidentally found this in kasol🤍

Me and my boyfriend were on our way somewhere else in kasol when we randomly spotted this 😭

Ended up stopping here for so long we completely forgot about the actual destination. Some places just make time slow down a little.🏔️

Currently Stuck in Shimla — Looking for travel suggestions

Missed my Dharamshala bus from Delhi and accidentally spawned in Shimla instead 💀

Now my entire travel plan has collapsed and I’m trying to recover.

Shimla is pretty but feels too family-tourism coded for my mood right now. I wanna go somewhere colder, scenic, backpacker-heavy, youthful, café/hostel/social vibe type place.

Thinking about Kasol/Tosh/Bir/Jibhi but I have NO idea:
- how to get there from Shimla
- which one has the best crowd right now
- where solo travellers usually go
- which one is easiest without spending a fortune on taxis

Please help me redirect my life choices 🙏

Lost somewhere in Himachal’s endless valleys

Drive through winding mountain roads, discover hidden villages, sip chai beside rivers, and watch clouds slowly cover pine forests. In Himachal, time feels slower, mornings feel calmer, and even random roadside stops turn into unforgettable memories. Sometimes getting “lost” here becomes the best part of the journey.

Advice for Peaceful & Scenic Family Trip to Manali in late May

Hey everyone!

Me and my family (4 people total) are planning a trip to Manali from 28th–31st May, travelling from Delhi, and I wanted some advice from people who’ve explored the area properly.

We’re not really looking for crowded touristy spots. We prefer scenic, peaceful, slightly offbeat places with beautiful views and photo-worthy locations. We’re okay travelling around nearby areas as well, not just staying inside Manali town.

A few questions:

  1. Which areas around Manali would you recommend for a quieter and more scenic experience?
  2. Should we book our stay in Manali itself, or somewhere nearby like Old Manali, Vashisht, Naggar, Sethan, Sissu, etc.?
  3. What would be better for this trip, taking our own vehicle from Delhi or relying on public transport/local taxis?
  4. Any hidden gems, cafes, short hikes, viewpoints, or less-crowded places you’d strongly recommend?

Would really appreciate suggestions from people who’ve travelled there recently. Thanks!
